Hello Dancers,  

  Let's have some summer fun at the SAFARI & ANIMAL PRINTS Dance Party this Thursday night July 20th at Eastlake Shores, 2050 Lakeshore Drive, Chula Vista.  There'll be prizes for best attire, lots of dancing, fun, food and beverages.  It's a "private party" and this is your invitation.  Dancers are welcome to bring a dish of food to share.  The fabulous DJ Bing Villafuerte will play for line dancing 6pm-7pm, and mixed ballroom & line dances until 10pm.  

DIRECTIONS: Take H Street east to Eastlake Drive.  Go right one block, then turn right onto Lakeshore Drive. Then, turn left immediately into the parking lot of 2050 Lakeshore Drive.  The Eastlake Shores Clubhouse is behind the gated fence.

THURSDAY JULY 13, 2017, BIRTHDAY DANCE PARTY at Eastlake:

FOOD LINE.  Above, Nina gave a blessing for the food. Here's a "Thank You", and some credits. Nick & Eden brought chili and buns. Beth brought watermelon.  DJ Mel brought lots of paella. Ralph brought chicken. Nedy brought halo halo making equipment and ingredients. Nene brought cochinta. Rudy brought cheesecake. And, there was more. Nick's visiting sister Lety was sitting in the photo above.

LINE DANCING was non-stop from 6 to 7pm, and off & on the rest of the night.  Above, dancing to "Sugar Sugar", a new bachata line dance for Thursday night, it was Maria, Nedy, DJ Mel and Eden in the front line, more or less. 

BALLROOM DANCING.  We guys preferred the ballroom dances.  Above, Nick and Eden dancing to "Luna", a rumba.

RUMBA. Above, Nene and Jake danced to another rumba, the beautiful "No Matter What".

NO MATTER WHAT.  Above, also dancing to "No Matter What", it was Neriza and Lito.

LADIES BY THE LAKE.  Above, taking a break from dancing to pose by Eastlake, it was Nedy and Elma.

SELFIES were in abundance as usual.  You can see many of them on Nedy's Facebook, including this one of Geraldine, Romi and Nedy. 

HAPPY BIRTHDAY. While Eva held a Happy Birthday carrot cake, Suzanne (with roses) and DJ Mel, the only two July birthday people in attendance, were honored by others including Edith and Nedy singing "Happy Birthday".

LINE DANCING was non-stop from 6 to 7pm, and off & on the rest of the night.  Above, dancing to "Hayra" line dance, it was Edith, Myrna and Nene in the front line.

BELLA ITALIA.  A while later, line dancers enjoyed "Bella Italia", a relatively new line dance at Eastlake.  Above, Edith, Beth and Nedy were in the front line.

FOOD LINE.  Above, Nina gave a blessing for the food. Here's a "Thank You", and some credits. Nick & Eden brought sinigang and rice. Beth brought spaghetti.  DJ Mel brought lots of Chinese food. Ralph brought pancit.  Gino & Edith R brought pancit.  Royce & Maria brought kettlecorn popcorn.  Vanessa brought banana raisin cupcakes. And, there was more.

FOUR BY THE LAKE.  Above, taking a break from dancing to pose by Eastlake, it was Nina, Nedy, Jake and Vanessa.

THE SINGER & DANCER. Giovanni sang for the dancers again. Above, he danced with Mona to "How Will I Know". 

WELCOME BACK.  We welcomed Maria and Royce back to Thursday night dancing, after an extended absence.  Above, they too were dancing to "How Will I Know".

BALLROOM DANCING.  We guys preferred the ballroom dances.  Above, Elma was dancing with first-timer Florencio to the tango "El Choclo".  Florencio is a very skilled dancer.

GINO & EDITH R were also back after much traveling, and they too were dancing to "El Choclo".

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Susie, who was admiring a Happy Birthday carrot cake held by husband DJ Mel in the photo above.

Cindy & Chito brought leche flan.  Elma brought chicken & watermelon. Beth brought cooked bananas.  Mel (not the DJ, but the other Mel) brought pancit canton.  Nene brought pan de sal & cheese.  Ruben brought sweet rolls. And, there was more.

THE SINGER & DANCER. Giovanni brought some of his recordings.  Above, he danced with Mona to a merengue he recorded called "Cómo Dios Te Ama". 

RCS SINGERS.  Above, special guests, the Ryan Cayabyab Singers came to Eastlake on a night off they had during their American Tour. Above, they were singing acapella (i.e., with no instrumental background) a beautiful medley of popular songs written by Burt Bacharach. After their concert, this Sunday afternoon at 4pm at Sycuan Casino east of El Cajon, they go to Las Vegas before going back to the Philippines.

LINE DANCING was non-stop from 6 to 7pm, and off & on the rest of the night.  Above, dancing to "Electric Slide" line dance, it was Mona, Vanessa and Geraldine more-or-less in the front line.

SELFIES - Hundreds were taken.  Above, Nedy was taking a selfie with Susie and DJ Mel while they danced to "Family Affair".

BALLROOM DANCING.  We guys preferred the ballroom dances.  Above, I got to dance with Gigi to the swing "What A Feeling".

Ryan Cayabyab Singers to be at Eastlake This Thursday June 29th

Hello Dancers,

  Besides RED WHITE & BLUE NIGHT Dance Party, the Ryan Cayabyab Singers are to be at the party, according to Susan at Filipino Press.  Come to Eastlake, 2050 Lakeshore Drive, Chula Vista, this Thursday evening, sometime between 6 - 10pm, so you should not miss their visit.  The Singers are on tour from the Philippines, and they have a concert at the Sycuan Casino just east of El Cajon on Sunday July 2nd, per the poster copied below.

And, prizes for best attire. It's a "private party" and this is your invitation.  Dancers are welcome to bring a dish of food to share.  The spectaculer DJ Bing Villafuerte will play for line dancing 6pm-7pm, and mixed ballroom & line dances until 10pm.

CONGRATULATIONS to newlyweds Nick and Eden, on their second week back at Eastlake after Nick's recovery from a broken arm. 

THE RING. Well, I don't know if it is "THE" ring, but I spotted Eden's hand later in the night and snapped this photo.

  It's a fun dance party most every Thursday night with line dances and ballroom dances like swing including Manila Swing (also known as 4-count hustle or Philippine swing or Filipino swing), cha cha, night club 2-step, rumba and much much more.

Other Notes: (1) These are really fun ballroom and line dance parties.  This is Thursday night dancing in San Diego.  While the dancing and music are non-stop, there are dancers who are happy to give free dance one-on-one lessons during the dances, in case you don't know the steps of a particular dance.  Hmmm - I bet the simultaneous instructions while others are dancing make these, for example, the best Thursday night salsa dance lessons in San Diego.
