"Patricia" and "Right Thing" Waltz Were Favorites Last Week

Hello Dancers,
Dancers at Lucky Star and Point Point March 23rd and 24th liked "Right Thing We Do" waltz line dance as well as "Patricia" cha cha.  More details below.

TUESDAY NIGHT LINE DANCING - At the Point Point Joint line dancing this past Tuesday (March 22nd) there were 13 line dancers.  First-timer Maribelle joined us.  Line dances new to the group, "Fly Me To The Moon", "Come Dance With Me", "Baby Likes to Rock It (Choo Choo Train)", "Besame Mucho", and "Under The Sun", were practiced.  Older line dances "Todo Todo Todo" and "Riverdance Tango" were practiced, in part due to forgetting them the previous week at Lucky Star.
THIS COMING TUESDAY (March 29th) you can join the fun at Point Point, 916 E. 8th Street, National City, 6:30-9:00.  With Nina away for the week, Jun will lead us through fun line dances.  $5.

WEDNESDAY FILIPINO NIGHT at Lucky Star Restaurant on March 23rd had about 25 joyful dancers, plus about 20 diners.  "Patricia" cha cha got 18 dancers on the floor, and many other songs like "Right Thing That We Do" waltz, "San Fernando" cumbia, and "Todo Todo Todo" line dance got about 15 folks up to dance.
"Filipino Night" once again will be this coming Wednesday March 30th with DJ Eric at the LUCKY STAR RESTAURANT, 54th Street & University Avenue, San Diego. 6:30-9:30PM.  $6 plus one drink minimum.

THURSDAY NIGHT (Mar 24) DANCING AT POINT POINT again featured Cindy and Chito giving some FREE West Coast Swing instruction around 7:30, and DJ Leo played the great dance music.  As the evening went on, nearly 40 dancers showed up.  Surprisingly near the end of the night, the waltz line dance, "Right Thing That We Do", got 14 couples (28 dancers) on the floor.  Earlier, line dances "Come Dance With Me" and "Baby Likes To Rock It (Choo Choo Train)" each got about 25 dancers.
This coming Thursday March 31st, we hope to dance again at Point Point, 916 E. 8th Street, National City.  Party dancing:  6:30-10 PM.  The only admission cost is $10 which gets you a 2-entree buffet dinner, 2 soft drinks, and all the dancing you can handle.

Attendance Up Last Week

Hello Dancers,
Attendance was up all last week, especially at Point Point, maybe to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.  "Locomotion" was a favorite.  More details below.

TUESDAY NIGHT LINE DANCING - At the Point Point Joint line dancing this past Tuesday (March 15th) there were 17 line dancers, the most since early December.  First-timer Pressy joined us, and Lee, Nitz & Norma joined us again after many weeks. "Fly Me To The Moon" was practiced intensely, but there was less dancing this week while the ladies spent a half hour discussing "Fly Me To the Moon" (recorded by Scooter Lee), "Come Dance With Me" (record by Nancy Hays), "Choo Choo Train" (recorded by Tractors), and the only non-country new line dance of the 4, "Under The Sun" (recorded by Tim Tim).  When they learn the first 3, they can join the country line dancers at In Cahoots. Anyway, the dancers also did nine other line dances.
The Baguio Dinner-Dance is just 6 days away (Saturday, March 26th), and Edith has tickets that she would like you to get. (reference:  Upcoming Events)
THIS COMING TUESDAY (March 22nd) you can join the fun at Point Point, 916 E. 8th Street, National City, 6:30-9:00, when Nina will again lead us through fun line dances.  $5.

WEDNESDAY FILIPINO NIGHT at Lucky Star Restaurant on March 16th was enjoyed by a nice crowd of about 30 dancers, plus about 20 diners.  Once again, we guys were kept busy dancing with the ladies.  Most dances had close to 20 dancers on the floor, and a salsa apparently called "Morena Coo Coo" had 22.  So did one of the few line dances, "Todo Todo Todo".
"Filipino Night" once again will be this coming Wednesday March 23rd with DJ Eric at the LUCKY STAR RESTAURANT, 54th Street & University Avenue, San Diego. 6:30-9:30PM.  $6 plus one drink minimum.

THURSDAY NIGHT DANCING AT POINT POINT again featured Cindy and Chito giving  a FREE West Coast Swing lesson 6:30-7:30 (March 17th).  I was AWOL, so Edith filled me in.  She said the place was packed with about 50 dancers, and DJ Leo played a mixture of ballroom and line dances.  Reportedly, "Locomotion" line dance again packed the floor with nearly 40 dancing.  Celebrating St. Patrick's Day, many folks had green clothing.
This coming Thursday March 24th, we hope to dance again at Point Point, 916 E. 8th Street, National City.  Party dancing:  6:30-10 PM.  The only admission cost is $10 which gets you a 2-entree buffet dinner, 2 soft drinks, and all the dancing you can handle.

TITA'S II?  It reportedly did not meet its March 17th opening date.  So, I don't know the opening date.

PHOTOS:
First of all, from Wednesday March 16th's Filipino Night at Lucky Star, we see Josie and Joe enjoying a disco swing dance.

Then, at Point Point Thursday night, March 17th, we see Nitz dancing with Tony.

"Locomotion" Continues as Top Track

Hello Dancers,
"Locomotion" continued its reign as the dancers' favorite; Cindy & Chito gave another FREE West Coast Swing lesson; and, wear GREEN this Thursday.  More details below.

TUESDAY NIGHT LINE DANCING - At the Point Point Joint line dancing this past Tuesday (March 8th) there were 13 line dancers.  "Fly Me To The Moon" was played briefly March 1st, and the Point Point dancers began trying to dance it this past week.  Other relatively recent dances for the Point Point crowd were danced  a lot: "Besame Mucho", "Locomotion", "If You Wanna Be Happy", "Rock Around The Clock", and "Tennessee Waltz".  A dozen other songs were danced. For part of the night we welcomed Cora, a regular at the 32nd Street Dancers.
The Baguio Dinner-Dance is 2 weeks away (Saturday, March 26th), and Edith has tickets that she would like you to get. (reference:  Upcoming Events)
THIS COMING TUESDAY (March 15th) you can join the fun at Point Point, 916 E. 8th Street, National City, 6:30-9:00, when Nina will again lead us through fun line dances.  $5.

WEDNESDAY FILIPINO NIGHT at Lucky Star Restaurant on March 9th was again enjoyed by 20 dancers, plus about a dozen diners, so once again we had plenty of floor space.  Seven of us guys danced more or less continuously with the thirteen ladies, and I heard no complaints.  Various swing dances got a lot of dancers on the floor, and "Simplemente", "Sex Bomb" and "Chilly Cha Cha" did very well.
"Filipino Night" once again will be this coming Wednesday March 16th with DJ Eric at the LUCKY STAR RESTAURANT, 54th Street & University Avenue, San Diego. 6:30-9:30PM.  $6 plus one drink minimum.

THURSDAY NIGHT DANCING AT POINT POINT again featured Cindy and Chito giving us a FREE West Coast Swing lesson 6:30-7:30 (March 10th).  Sugar Push, the Bump and more advanced steps were covered.  More free lessons are anticipated.  Inspiring the crowd of about 35 dancers, DJ Leo played a mixture of ballroom and line dances.  The West Coast Swing song "The Way You Make me Feel" by Michael Jackson got most folks dancing.  Nevertheless, once again the "Locomotion" line dance packed the floor with nearly everybody dancing, 30 dancers by my count.  Swing, cha cha, and merengue were other favorites.
This coming Thursday March 17th, we hope to dance again at Point Point, 916 E. 8th Street, National City.  March 17th is St. Patrick's Day, so wear some green.  Party dancing:  6:30-10 PM.  The only admission cost is $10 which gets you a 2-entree buffet dinner, 2 soft drinks, and all the dancing you can handle.

TITA'S II to Open This Week?  "The Speir family is proud to open their second restaurant Tita's II on March 17th", quoting an ad in the Mar. 4 - 10 issue of the Philippine Mabuhay News.

PHOTOS:
First of all, from Wednesday March 9th's Filipino Night at Lucky Star, we see the Penny and Vivian in front of line dancers dancing to "Sex Bomb"

Then, at Point Point Thursday night, March 10th, we see first-timer Kuniko enjoying a merengue dance with Ping.

test 3-6-11

Hello Dancers,
Cindy & Chito gave a FREE West Coast Swing lesson March 3rd, and "Locomotion" continued to reign as the line dance favorite. More details below.

West Coast Swing Lesson was at Point Point Thursday March 3rd

Hello Dancers,
Cindy & Chito gave a FREE West Coast Swing lesson March 3rd, and "Locomotion" continued to reign as the line dance favorite.  More details below.

TUESDAY NIGHT LINE DANCING - At the Point Point Joint line dancing this past Tuesday (March 1st) there were 16 line dancers, the most since late December.  "Besame Mucho" line dance continued to get the most attention.  The dancers enjoyed several other line dances, including relatively new favorites "Locomotion" and "If You Wanna Be Happy".
The Baguio Dinner-Dance is 3 weeks away (Saturday, March 26th), and Edith has tickets that she would like you to get. (reference:  Upcoming Events)
THIS COMING TUESDAY (March 8th) you can join the fun at Point Point, 916 E. 8th Street, National City, 6:30-9:00, when Nina will again lead us through fun line dances.  $5.

WEDNESDAY FILIPINO NIGHT at Lucky Star Restaurant on March 2nd was enjoyed by 20 dancers, plus about a dozen diners, so once again we had plenty of floor space.  Although ladies outnumbered guys by almost 2:1, the ladies did not mind because the guys including even DJ Eric danced with them on every dance and several ladies did not want to dance.  Nevertheless, the line dances got the most dancers on the floor, with "Cumbia Semana" bringing up 16 dancers, and "S'mera" and "Chilly Cha Cha" not far behind.  Tango and meringue were ballroom dance favorites.
"Filipino Night" once again will be this coming Wednesday March 9th with DJ Eric at the LUCKY STAR RESTAURANT, 54th Street & University Avenue, San Diego. 6:30-9:30PM.  $6 plus one drink minimum.

THURSDAY NIGHT DANCING AT POINT POINT featured Cindy and Chito giving us a FREE West Coast Swing lesson early in the night (March 3rd).  Basic steps included the Sugar Push. They went on to more elaborate steps like the Bump.  More free lessons are anticipated. After the lesson as the night went on, the crowd peaked out with about 45 dancers, with DJ Leo playing a mixture of ballroom and line dances.  While several ballroom dances like "The Right Thing That We Do" waltz got over 20 dancers on the floor, once again the "Locomotion" line dance packed the floor with about 30 dancers.  Swing, 2-step, tango, cha cha, and bolero were other favorites.
This coming Thursday March 10th, we hope to dance again at Point Point, 916 E. 8th Street, National City.  Party dancing:  6:30-10 PM.  The only admission cost is $10 which gets you a 2-entree buffet dinner, 2 soft drinks, and all the dancing you can handle.

TITA'S II to Open Soon?  Rumors abound that Tita's II will open in one week.  Well, that's progress.  Last May the renovation was estimated to last four weeks.  Meanwhile, Gapo II, a retail store subsidiary of the well-know restaurant, has quietly opened across the parking lot from Tita's II.

PHOTOS:
First of all, from Wednesday March 2nd's Filipino Night at Lucky Star, we see the Charlene enjoying the disco hustle "Souvenirs" with DJ Eric

Then, at Point Point Thursday night, March 3rd, I surprised Nitz who was dancing in the back corner with Leo.

I put those two plus 22 other photos from the past week in the Forever Young Group Photos section into the '2011 March' folder.  For those of you who prefer the features of Google's Picasa Web Albums, and you who are non-Yahoo members, the March photos are also posted at
