Hawaiian Night at Point Point this Thursday July 31, 2014

Hi Again Dancers,
Dig out your Hawaiian shirts and hula skirts.  It's HAWAIIAN NIGHT this Thursday night at Point Point Joint, July 31, 2014.  It will be another fun-filled dance party with Best Attire prize(s) and complementary snacks.  This is your invitation to join the great revelry this coming Thursday.  The incredible DJ Mel Zaragoza will be playing swing, cha cha, cumbia, tango, and many more - and of course - LINE DANCING!  Point Point will offer us dancers their fabulous $10 dinner special which includes a soft drink.  (More details below.).  So come on over - Party time:  from 6pm until 10pm at Point Point Joint, 916 E. 8th Street, National City.

Last Thursday July 24, 2014, nearly 40 dancers partied.  The seven photos below tell part of the story.         (Note: If the following photos do not appear when you look at this email, click the words at the top of this email that say something like "Show images which are still blocked to protect your privacy" - I already know who you are):

THURSDAY NIGHT AT POINT POINT JOINT (JULY 24, 2014):

I counted 28 line dances during the night, with 14 of them non-stop in the 6pm - 7pm period.  Besides more familiar ones like "Carinito" and "Cowboy Cumbia", the surprise favorite of the night was "It's So Easy" - relatively new to Point Point.  Above you see Mona and Edith R in front on "It's So Easy".

Here Gloria and Tito were enjoying a night club 2-step.

At the same time, Medy and Nickie were enjoying the night club 2-step.  I think it was Medy's first time to be at Thursday night at Point Point Joint.

The big event of the night was a celebration of Lydia's birthday.  We thanked Lydia, who is holding flowers next to her friends and relatives in the photo above, for allowing our dance parties for several years now.

Nickie and Penny had fun dancing to the boogie "Bop To Be".

Florita and Ruben were also dancing to "Bop To Be".

Cora Anderson was there, too.  After she invited us to the Fil-Am Unity Group's dance party, I got to dance with her.

It's a fun dance party most every Thursday night at Point Point Joint with line dances and ballroom dances like swing including Manila Swing (also known as 4-count hustle or Philippine swing or Filipino swing), cha cha, night club 2-step, tango and much much more.  For this weeks' HAWAIIAN NIGHT Dance Party on Thursday (July 31, 2014), Point Point Joint Restaurant, 916 E. 8th Street, National City, as usual offers their special price of $10 for 2-entree dinner plus drink for Thursday Night dancers.

Here's the plan for the next few weeks at Point Point:

Thursday  July 31, 2014   6-10pm, HAWAIIAN NIGHT, DJ Mel Zaragoza

Thursday  August 7, 2014  6-10pm, DJ Mel Zaragoza, 619-947-9049

Dance Party at Point Point this Thursday July 24, 2014

Hello Dance Party Lovers,

Last Thursday July 17, 2014, about 40 dancers partied - including several from South Bay Terraces Senior Assn (aka Tooma Park Seniors).  People were coming and going all night - the six photos below tell part of the story.         (Note: If the following photos do not appear when you look at this email, click the words at the top of this email that say something like "Show images which are still blocked to protect your privacy" - I already know who you are):

THURSDAY NIGHT AT POINT POINT JOINT (JULY 17, 2014):

It was pretty much non-stop line dancing from 6 until 7pm.  During the party, I got to hear my favorites singers, the Sparx, as both their "Carinito" and "Bajo La Luna" were played twice.  The photo above shows Penny and my Edith in front on "Let's Groove Tonight"

Suzanne led a solemn remembrance and prayer for the nearly 300 victims of Malaysia Airlines flight #17 who were enroute from Amsterdam, Netherlands, to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.  That plane had been tragically shot down earlier Thursday by Russians in a Ukrainian border town.

Here Estrelle danced with Romy Maraya - I think it was a samba.  Romy is San Diego's Fil-Am Elvis impersonator.

A little later Solly was dancing a night club 2-step with Bert Alota.

Then I saw Jake enjoying dancing a cumbia with Nene.

Susie and DJ Mel seemed happy and refreshed after their "vacation". Mel graciously took on the DJ job last Thursday.  Here they were dancing to the boogie "Bop To Be"

Last Thursday July 10, 2014, about 40 dancers partied.  Thanks to many people I had not met before including several from South Bay Terraces Senior Assn, friends of Cora Anderson, president of Fil-Am Unity Group of CA, and Florita's friends.  It was a warm and wonderful night - the photos below tell part of the story.         (Note: If the following photos do not appear when you look at this email, click the words at the top of this email that say something like "Show images which are still blocked to protect your privacy" - I already know who you are):

THURSDAY NIGHT AT POINT POINT JOINT (JULY 10, 2014):

Eva and Dwayne above were dancing the great cumbia "Desvelado".

Again, we had non-stop line dancing from 6 until 7pm.  During the party, "Carinito", "Let's Groove Tonight" and "Aguardiente" were each played twice.  Here, with Celi, Suzanne and Nina in front, they danced to "Bequine Per Sognare".

And, Suzanne had a birthday.  I guess her 21st.  Here Bert Alota and Nina give their birthday greetings and flowers.

Here Ruben and Florita were dancing salsa to "La Vida Es Un Carnival".

Tito and Gloria enjoyed dancing to the same salsa.

And so did Nickie & Ly.

Nene and lucky Mark danced to the rumba "Esta Noche."

And, I got to dance with Edith's granddaughter Jazmen who dropped in with her friends to celebrate Jazmen's birthday.  Jazmen is a sergeant in the Marine Corps, an Afghan War veteran, and she's a great dancer!

THURSDAY NIGHT AT POINT POINT JOINT (JULY 3, 2014):

It was non-stop line dancing from 6 until 7pm.  Nina and Nedy are in front on "Mambo Italiano" in this photo.

Lots of Red White & Blue outfits and many winners.  Two were Eva and Dwayne.  Eva's earrings blinked.   Here they were dancing a cha cha.

Kelly Medina is always well dressed.  He was a winner in a Continental Army uniform.

Nedy had a red white & blue flag blouse.  Edith awarded Nedy with a prize.

Edith R and Gino R were also winners.

Nickie & Rima danced to "Jamaican Love" while line dancers danced the line dance steps.  (Among line dances, the spectacular Sparx were the most popular singers with "Carinito" and "Bajo La Luna".)

Ruben and Solly here danced the beautiful night club 2-step, "Tal Vez Quizas".  Solly and her friend Nene both deserve awards for their ELEVEN straight Thursday nights at Point Point Joint!!  Few can claim that.

Nene was totally red, white & blue.  And, she was busy dancing, too.  Here she was dancing the cha cha "Porque Te Quiero" at closing time with Kelly Medina

Next to them, Ly and Ruben both in Red were dancing to that cha cha. too.
