Yes Dancers!
It'll be a MEXICAN NIGHT DANCE PARTY at Eastlake this Thursday night May 4th, the day before Cinco De Mayo, at Eastlake Shores, 2050 Lakeshore Drive, Chula Vista. There'll be prizes for Best Attire, lots of fun, and snacks. It's a "private party" and this is your invitation. Dancers are welcome to bring a dish of food to share. The marvellous DJ Bing Villafuerte will play for line dancing 6pm-7pm, and mixed ballroom & line dances until 10pm.
DIRECTIONS: Take the H Street east to Eastlake Drive. Go right one block, then right onto Lakeshore Drive. Then, turn left immediately into parking lot of 2050 Lakeshore Drive. The Eastlake Shores Clubhouse is behind the gated fence.
Last Thursday (April 27th) at Eastlake, thanks in part to 4 first-timers, 25 dancers had a great time to music provided by DJ Mel Zaragoza, as you can see in the 5 photos below, plus last year's winners. LADIES BY THE LAKE. It was just after sunset when Edith, Becky, Nedy, Nora, and Nina came out to the railing for a photo by Eastlake.
FOOD LINE. Folks lined up to get some food. Nina gave the blessing and a prayer for Nick Enriquez who is recovering from a broken arm and complications in a convalescent home. Here's a "Thank You", and some credits. Becky & Aniel brought lasagna. Elma & Fred brought spring rolled sandwiches. Nina brought fried rice. Bert Alota & Suzanne brought papaya. There was pizza and more.
LINE DANCING. Above, dancing to "Bambola Italiana", a relatively new one for Thursday night, Edith and Nora were in the front line.
DJ MEL danced with Elma to the boogie, "Long Tall Sally".
BALLROOM DANCING is what we guys prefer. Above, Daisy danced with Fred to the boogie, "Long Tall Sally".

Thanks in part to first-timers and some of Marie's Prime Ladies of San Diego, there were 35 happy dancers who enjoyed dancing to DJ Bing's music. Here's a "Thank You", and some credits. Beth brought mixed fruit. Rei and Belen brought rellenos bangs and maja blanca and fruit. Nedy brought tuna casserole. Mel (not the DJ, but the other Mel) brought pancit. Joe brought pizza. Estrelle brought sandwiches. Rosa brought banana fritters. Hermie brought watermelon. And, there was more.
LINE DANCING was non-stop from 6 to 7pm, and off & on the rest of the night. Above, Edith, Rei and Nora were in the front line for "Colors Of The Wind", a relatively new line dance for Thursday night dancers.
HANG ON TIGHT as Joe dipped Nedy while dancing to the "Endless Love bachata", of all things.
DISCO ATTIRE WINNERS, too many to name, lined up for photos. Multi-colored Estrelle, towards the right, was a grand prize winner. DJ Mel was the guy's grand prize winner. See him in other photos.
BALLROOM DANCING. We guys preferred the ballroom dances. Above, I got to dance with Rose to the disco classic, "First, Last, Everything".
DJ BING SANG ala karaoke to a cute disco-tempo song called "Bikining Itim", while DJ Mel and Elma danced to it. Bing has a very good voice.

Here's a "Thank You", and some credits. Beth brought sandwiches. Rei and Belen brought 4 pizzas! For a change, there was still pizza left at quitting time. Mel (not the DJ, but the other Mel) brought pancit canton. Ralph brought baked chicken. Medy brought a lot of pancit. Dolores brought stewed beef and bibingka. Nene brought puto. Jake brought leche flan. Mike brought meatballs and sauce. Ruben brought Peruvian carapulcra. Romy and Marilyn (from Fallbrook) brought chips & guacamole dip. And, there was more.
LEDY, MEDY & NEDY, together again, in the photo above. Yes, these 3 ladies were at a Thursday night dance together about 3 years ago.
LINE DANCING was non-stop from 6 to 7pm, and off & on the rest of the night. Above, Edith and Rei were more-or-less in the front line dancing to "Open Book".
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DOLORES. Dolores got the roses and balloons as the only April birthday celebrant at the dance. Above, Rei was dancing some sort of birthday celebration dance with Dolores.
AYALA LAND representatives dropped in to the dance during a U.S. tour. Above, Charisse, who is a niece of Eden, Luisa, and Archie, all 3 from Ayala Land, posed with me and Edith. The visitors, who have their offices in Makati City, Philippines, talked to dancers who were interested in investing in properties in the Philippines.

Let's Celebrate, Dancers!
The Eastlake Dance Party this Thursday night April 6th features roses for birthday ladies and balloons for guys, for people with April birthdays. And, it's a 1-year anniversary celebration of dancing at Eastlake Shores, 2050 Lakeshore Drive, Chula Vista. There'll be lots of dancing and snacks and beverages. LINE DANCING was non-stop from 6 to 7pm, and off & on the rest of the night. Above, Edith, Rei and Medy were in the front line dancing to a long-running favorite, "Carinito".
SUSIE & MEL BY THE LAGOON. Taking a break from line dancing, Susie and DJ Mel (who had the night off from DJ duties) looked very nice by the Eastlake Beach Lagoon. They later won the 1st prize for black & white attire.

BLACK & WHITE NIGHT BEST ATTIRE WINNERS. Winners, all looked great. There were prizes for Best Couples and Best Individuals. Nina and Edith were judges.
