NEW YEAR MASQUERADE DANCE PARTY at Eastlake Thursday December 29, 2022

Hello Dancers, 

   Merry Christmas.!!!  You are invited to a NEW YEAR MASQUERADE DANCE PARTY this Thursday December 29, 2022, at Eastlake Shores, 2050 Lakeshore Drive, Chula Vista. There'll be lots of dancing, fun, food, and beverages, and prizes for selected best attire winners.  PLUS, each of the 3 weeks after that will be special with:  a COWBOY & WESTERN NIGHT, the JANUARY BIRTHDAYS PARTY, and a CHINESE NEW YEAR PARTY. It's a "private party" and this is your invitation.  Dancers are welcome to bring a dish of food to share.  The marvelous DJ Bing Villafuerte will play for line dancing 6pm-7pm, and mixed ballroom & line dances until 10pm.

  MASKS required?  Well, the homeowners association still has a "masks recommended" sign on the door.  In order to have a healthy dance, please do not come in if you have a fever, a bad cough, or other serious cold or flu symptoms.  Anyone can wear a mask who chooses. Everyone should bring a mask, just in case the requirements change at the last minute.

DIRECTIONS: Take H Street east to Eastlake Drive.  Go right one block, then turn right onto Lakeshore Drive. Then, turn left immediately into the parking lot of 2050 Lakeshore Drive.  The Eastlake Shores Clubhouse is behind the gated fence.

A CHRISTMAS DANCE PARTY was at Eastlake last Thursday, December 22nd, with DJ Nick Bascos and 55 dancers, thanks in part to 8 first-timers, and some returning since before the pandemic.  Here are some photos:

 

 

 BEFORE EATING, dancers posed for the photo above. Nedy gave a blessing for the food, and for Christmas.

 

 

 

LINE DANCING was non-stop from 6 to 7pm.  In the photo above, one of Nedy's 160 selfies on Facebook, Lou, Sue and Janet were more or less closest to the camera. 

 

 

 SPECIAL PERFORMANCE by dancers led by Mayet and Delia entertained everyone with hip-hop steps to several songs including "Uptown Funk" ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Et72TNDWzPM ).

 

 

 

 BALLROOM DANCING continued, and Letty & Dan Sullivan came with Beth from the 32nd Street dancers, and Nedy got a selfie of Letty and Dan dancing.

 THE MERRY CHRISTMAS CAKE.  Myra (Veronica) brought another delicious cake for the dancers.  In the photo above, Myra was about to cut the first pieces of cake.

 BALLROOM DANCING was frequent.  In the selfie photo above, Nedy snapped Cindy and birthday celebrant Chito enjoying a west coast swing, probably, such as "Roadrunner" ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7VGf0u-xOYU ),  which was played.

 

 

 

 THE BIRTHDAY CAKE.  Once again, Myra (Veronica) baked a fabulous birthday cake for the celebrants and dancers.  Besides the elaborate decorations, the cake featured a layer of strawberries and peaches and cream.

 

 

 

 BIRTHDAY CELEBRANTS with birthdays in December were singing along to Happy Birthday in the photo above.  They were Vangie, Araceli, Nida, Chito, Estrelle and Edna.

 

 

 

NIDA BY THE TREE.  In the photo above, birthday celebrant Nida posed in front of the Christmas tree.  I assume the Eastlake association brought in the tree, lights and several poinsettia potted plants. The tree was next to the DJ's table.

FLASHBACK TO 2021 DECEMBER BIRTHDAYS PARTY:

 

 

The 2021 DECEMBER BIRTHDAY CAKE.  Well there actually were 2 cakes. The cake in the photo above was baked and decorated by Myra (Veronica).  Besides tasting fabulous, it was a layered cake, with chocolate mousse filling between the layers, and it featured Christmas-themed frosting and decorations.

A STRIPES NIGHT DANCE PARTY was at Eastlake last Thursday, November 17th, with DJ Nickie Bascos, and 46 dancers, thanks in part to five 1st-timers. Here are some photos:

STRIPES NIGHT DANCE PARTY at Eastlake Thursday November 17, 2022

Hello Dancers, 

  There will be STRIPES NIGHT DANCE PARTY on Thursday November 17th, at Eastlake Shores, 2050 Lakeshore Drive, Chula Vista. There'll be lots of dancing, fun, food, beverages, and prizes for best Stripes Night attire. It's a "private party" and this is your invitation.  Dancers are welcome to bring a dish of food to share. The spectacular DJ Nice Bascos will play for line dancing 6pm-7pm, and mixed ballroom & line dances until 10pm.

  MASKS required?  Well, the homeowners association still has a "masks recommended" sign on the door.  In order to have a healthy dance, please do not come in if you have a fever, a bad cough, or other serious cold or flu symptoms.  Anyone can wear a mask who chooses. Everyone should bring a mask, just in case the requirements change at the last minute.

DIRECTIONS: Take H Street east to Eastlake Drive.  Go right one block, then turn right onto Lakeshore Drive. Then, turn left immediately into the parking lot of 2050 Lakeshore Drive.  The Eastlake Shores Clubhouse is behind the gated fence.

  Sorry.  No dance at Eastlake this Thursday night, November 10th.  Another group reserved the Clubhouse.  But, it will be STRIPES NIGHT a week later on Thursday November 17th, and I hope to see you then.  The "Visitation" Service for Carmen Weber will be this Thursday, November 10th, from 5pm - 9pm at Glen Abbey Memorial, 3838 Bonita Road.

 BY THE LAKE AT SUNSET, in the last week of Daylight Saving Time, seven dancers posed for the photo above, before the dance at sunset by Eastlake.  Annie, Nora, Rei, Lolit, Edith, Estrelle, and Janet.  Daylight Saving Time will return in March.

 

 

  LINE DANCING was non-stop from 6pm - 7pm.  In the photo above, in the front line, more or less, were Belen, Jasmine and Geraldine, dancing to the relatively new one, "Open Arms" ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4id91BBGjE ).  Line dancing alternated with ballroom dances until 10pm.

 THE CAKE.  Once again Veronica (Myra) brought a beautiful delicious birthday cake.  This one was a chocolate layer cake with colorful frosting.

Carmen Weber Visitation will be on November 10, 2022

Carmen Weber (Carmelita Madla Weber), who came to Eastlake dances often passed away on October 10, 2022, saddening all of us who knew her.  Services for Carmen, cited on the Glen Abbey website, are Visitation 5pm - 9pm, Thursday Nov. 10, 2022 at Glen Abbey, 3838 Bonita Road, followed by a funeral mass 10am - 11am on Friday, Nov. 11th at the St. Charles Catholic Church, 990 Saturn Blvd, San Diego, followed by committal service 11:30am - noon, back at Glen Abbey Memorial Park. Carmen's husband Fred and her son Fred, Jr., recently kindly came to an Eastlake dance, and provided some history of Carmen's life.  We knew Carmen for the bountiful delicious food she prepared, and for her dancing and singing. Fred said Carmen was born in Calumpit, Bulacan province, Philippines in 1949.  Fred met Carmen in 1968 and they married in 1971.  They have 3 children, Fred, Jr., Jonathan and Jacqueline (Jackie), and 3 grandchildren.  Besides being active in church, Carmen was well known in many Filipino-American groups, such as the Eastlake Thursday dancers.

A HALLOWEEN DANCE PARTY was at Eastlake last Thursday, October 27th, with DJ Bing Villafuerte, and 53 dancers, thanks in part to three 1st-timers, and some returning dancers. Here are some photos: 

 

 

 BY THE LAKE AT SUNSET, in fabulous HALLOWEEN costumes, five dancers posed for the photo above, before the dance at sunset by Eastlake.  Melba, Liz, Nora, Rei and Janette.  This week will be the last of Daylight Saving Time until next March.

 

 

 

 CHA CHA and LINE DANCING.  Robert and Janette danced a cha cha cha while others did line dancing.  Line dancing was non-stop from 6 to 7pm, alternating with ballroom dances until 10pm.

 

 

 

SUPERMAN can handle a devilish-looking Janet in the photo above.  DJ Bing and Janet were winners later in the Best Attired Couples category.

 LINE DANCING CONTINUED off and on until 10pm.  The colorful Halloween celebrants enjoyed line dancing in the photo above.  The front line was Eva, Roland, Irish and Nida.

 

 

 

 BALLROOM DANCING was frequent.  In the photo above, Roland and Rosanna were enjoying dancing the bachata.

 

 

 

 WINNING COUPLES in Halloween costumes in the photo above were Roland & Irish, Nora & Joe, Chito & Cindy, Romi & Geraldine, Faye & John, Houda & Sami, and Nida & Charlie.  Winners DJ Bing and Janet were not in the photo above. 

 

 

 

 WINNING LADIES in Halloween costumes were too numerous to get in one photo, so they were divided into two groups.  In the first group above they were Estrelle, Annie, Connie, Liz, Grace, Mayeth, Lou, Rosanna, Lolit, Sheila and Eva.  With Judge Edith out on a sick day, I made mistakes in recognizing all the winners, and who was in which group. Lydia and Rei were the Judges of the night.

 

 

WINNING LADIES & GUYS, HALLOWEEN BEST ATTIRE, GROUP #2.  Well, we mixed the guys into the WINNERS - Group #2, in the photo above.  Posing for a photo of Group #2 they were Robert, Grace, Sue, Victoria, Hector, May, Eden, Edwin, Edna, Janet, Kris and Beth.  At least two other winners were not in the photo above, Melba and Janette.
