Let's Dance this Thursday April 3, 2014 at Point Point

Hi Again Dancers,

This is your invitation to another merry good Dance Time Party this Thursday (April 3rd) at Point Point Joint Restaurant.  DJ Mel Zaragoza will be playing swing, cha cha, cumbia, tango, and many more - and of course - LINE DANCING!  Point Point will offer us dancers their delightful-nutritious $10 dinner special which includes a soft drink.  (More details below.)

35 dance-party people showed up last Thursday (March 27th) - and we had fun - details & eight photos are below.

Photos from the March 27th Dance Party:    (Note: If the following photos do not appear when you look at this email, click the words at the top of this email that say something like "Show images which are still blocked to protect your privacy" - I already know who you are):

Suzanne was enjoying one of my favorite merengues, "Me Miras", with Bert Alota.

Edith & Gino R were having fun dancing, too.

Lots of line dances, of course.  Here the ladies are dancing one of their newer favorites, "Bachata Risma".

I got to sit with Cecile and Mark most of the night.  Here they are dancing a night club two-step.

OK, I hope you know the two ladies in front here, joyously dancing to another relatively new line dance, "Tonight".

The dancing seemed to get more energetic the closer we got to closing time.  Here Ruben and Rima were happy dancing to a cumbia.

And then someone - Who was it?  Rima? - brought in a big birthday cake.  OK, maybe that's why everyone stayed past closing time.

Birthday celebrants Romy and Vilma were joined by Marilyn and Frank for photos and singing "Happy Birthday".

It's a fun dance party most every Thursday night at Point Point with line dances and ballroom dances like swing like Manila Swing (also known as 4-count hustle or Philippine swing or Filipino swing), cha cha, night club 2-step, tango and much much more.  For this weeks' Dance Party on Thursday (April 3rd), Point Point Joint Restaurant, 916 E. 8th Street, National City, as usual offers their special price of $10 for 2-entree dinner plus drink for Thursday Night dancers.

Here's the plan for the next few weeks at Point Point:

Thursday  April 3rd,    6-10pm, DJ Mel

Thursday  April 10th,   6-10pm, DJ Mel

Thursday  April 17th,   NO DANCING in honor of Holy Thursday

See you on the dance floor,

Dance and Party this Thursday March 27th at Point Point

Hello Dancers,
You're invited to another festive Dance Party this Thursday (March 27th) at Point Point Joint Restaurant.  DJ Mel Zaragoza will be playing swing, cha cha, cumbia, tango, and many more - and of course - LINE DANCING!  Point Point will offer us dancers their delicious-nutritious $10 dinner special which includes a soft drink.  (More details below.)

With 35 dance-party people in attendance, last Thursday (March 20th) was a line dancers dream party - Marie, who is leader of the Prime Lady dancers of San Diego and half of M&B Entertainment, came to Point Point and demonstrated two nice line dances.

Photos from the March 20th Dance Party:    (Note: If the following photos do not appear when you look at this email, click the words at the top of this email that say something like "Show images which are still blocked to protect your privacy" - I already know who you are):

Here we see Marie showing the steps to a merengue line dance called "Mamita".

A few minutes later Marie showed how to dance "Let's Mambo Together" also known as "Strepitoso Mambo".  That's Bert #1 getting it together there.

A while later I spotted Marie and Nina talking about line dances, or whatever women talk about these days - pink iPhones? I don't know.

Well, here it looks like the dancers are watching Edith.  The line dance was "Almost Jamaica".  At some point in the night the ladies also danced "Beguine Per Sognare", a line dance taught to Nina's dancers on Tuesday night by Dante, president of the South Bay Terraces Seniors Association

Bert Alota and Suzanne were livening up the party dancing a night club two-step.

The always-happy Florita and Lita were dancing to "Let's Groove Tonight" here.

DJ Mel Zaragoza continues to be the mainstay of the Thursday night dance parties.  And, he knows all the dances.  Here he's dancing a night club two-step with Susie.

Let's Dance Thursday March 20th at Point Point

Hi Folks,
We'll have another fabulous fun Dance Party this Thursday (March 20th) at Point Point Joint Restaurant, and you are invited.  DJ Mel Zaragoza will be playing swing, cha cha, cumbia, tango, and many more - and of course - LINE DANCING!  Point Point will offer us dancers their yummy $10 dinner special which includes a soft drink.  (More details below.)

Last Thursday (March 13th) was the big St. Patrick's Dance Party with nearly 40 dancers many in green having a wonderful time dancing to the music of DJ Mel Zaragoza.

Lots of Good Photos from the March 13th St. Patrick's Dance Party:    (Note: If the following photos do not appear when you look at this email, click the words at the top of this email that say something like "Show images which are still blocked to protect your privacy" - I already know who you are):

First of all, I can't overlook Tuesday March 11th.  Wow!  I counted 17 dancers, including first-timers Jessica and Edna - as many or more than ever for a Tuesday.  Eva made one of her rare appearances.  Here we see many of them dancing "Asi Asi".  Tuesday night line dancing is on Point Point Joint's upper level.

Seventeen Tuesday night line dancers posed.  Can you spot Nedy's twin sister Geni?

OK.  Now on to the Thursday night St. Patrick's Dance Party.  Lots of line dancing - here they're doing the still-very-popular "Caballero".  Thursday night dance parties are on Point Point's main lower level.

Here we see Lou and Nickie having fun dancing a cumbia.

Nedy and the venerable Bert Andrade were also dancing the cumbia.

And, across the floor, Liz and Boyet were also dancing the same cumbia.

A few minutes later it was a night club 2-step.  Romy and Marilyn were dancing it.

Across the dance floor, I saw two glamorous dancers, Lolita and Jake.

The next song was the popular line dance "Almost Jamaica", but when Romy brought in a big box of avocados the women forgot the dance and scrambled for the avocados.  Nina (on the microphone) pleaded for calmness and "just take 3" - nevertheless the box was emptied in 60 seconds - there was still time to finish "Almost Jamaica"

About mid-way through the night, DJ Mel played one of my favorite songs, the rumba "Esta Noche".  Here we see Rima and Jake dancing it.

And, soon after that, it was time for the Best Attire Contest.  The 3 judges selected Royce & Maria with their green hats, mugs, ties and more.  Nina awarded their prize - a Point Point gift certificate.

DJ Mel Zaragoza has been the Thursday night dance party DJ for many weeks now.  Occasionally he has time to dance.  Here he's dancing a bachata with Susie - the same way I like to dance bachata - real close.

Next to them, Suzanne and Bert Alota were also enjoying that bachata.

I was at Mark and Lolita's table most of the night.  Here they are dancing a tango.  Lolita was enjoying her second Thursday night dance at Point Point - I hope she keeps coming.

A few minutes later Rima and Ruben were dancing a merengue.

And joyously dancing right next to them were Florita and Lita.

Across the floor, Dante and Marilyn were also dancing the merengue.

Getting near closing time I spotted Nickie and Edith dancing in their St. Patrick's Party green.

I spotted Nedy and Jake dancing a night club two-step.

Bert Alota, king of dip dancing, danced "Calma Bachata" with Suzanne.

DJ Mel saved one of the best dances for near closing time, "Bop To Be" boogie, and Ruben and Florita didn't miss a step.

New YouTube Video - My camera worked, and the ladies very cheerfully danced "It's My Soul" line dance for YouTube.  You've got to see it.  Suzanne & Nedy & Lydia were among those on the front line. Click here
