Keep on Dancing this Thursday at Point Point Joint (Sept 3, 2015)

Yes Dancers - Point Point Lives On,
And, another "end-is-near" prediction went wrong (details below).  Dance again this Thursday September 3, 2015 at Point Point Joint.  This is your invitation to join the fun & frolic from 6pm until 10pm.  The weather forecast is for eight degrees cooler this week.  The phenomenal DJ Nickie Bascos, Jr., will be playing swing, cha cha, rumba, and much more - and of course - LINE DANCING - which has been non-stop from 6-7pm lately.  The place: Point Point Joint, 916 E. 8th Street, National City.

Last Thursday August 27, 2015, was Caribbean Night and hat contest, and thanks to many dancers returning to what was billed as the "last dance", 65 dancers enjoyed the music of DJ Bing in a hot & packed Joint. Fabulous complementary food:  fruit salad from Romy & Marilyn, caramel popcorn from Tito & Gloria, leche flan from Jake, puto leche from Nene, and snacks from Edith.  The twelve photos below tell part of the story.           (Note: If the following photos do not appear when you look at this email, click the words at the top of this email that say something like "Show images which are still blocked to protect your privacy" - I already know who you are):

CARIBBEAN NIGHT AT POINT POINT JOINT (THURSDAY AUGUST 27, 2015):

There were lots of line dances, again non-stop from 6 to 7pm.  "Almost Jamaica", with Myrna, Nedy and Fred in front, was a Caribbean Night theme song.

We guys preferred the ballroom dances.  Above, Heidi and Ruben enjoyed dancing.  Ruben donated $100 in dinner gift prizes that were courtesy of Dr. I. Daramola at the Caring Hearts Medical Clinic.

Edith wore Caribbean beach attire while dancing with Robert.

The one-eyed pirate Carlos tried to dance a salsa with Dolores, but she successfully fended him off.

Still a favorite line dance, "Bachata Risma" is seen above, with Lito, Rima and Lou in front.

The Hat Contest.  Most people had heard previous announcements of a Caribbean Hat Contest (I missed it).  At 9PM it was line-up time for the judges to see.  Marilyn, fourth from left & behind Dolores, was named the main winner, if I remember right.

The Point Point Hat Parade.  We & judges watched the Hat Parade.  All the hat ladies were winners, either getting a gift bag or a $10 dinner gift prize that Ruben awarded.

Eva dropped in as the Hat Contest ended.  I think she got a consolation prize.

Joy let me dance with her to the west coast swing "Ooh Poo Pah Doo".

Above, it was "La Muchachita" with Joy, Suzanne and Nedy in front.

Lydia's Retirement.  Above, Lydia listens to Nina give praise & thanks & gift to Lydia for letting us have five years of fun at Point Point Joint. If I got the story right, Point Point's lease now extends halfway through September, but Lydia is leaving early (more info below).

Last Tuesday Night Line Dance at Point Point Joint, Aug. 25th .  Well, Nina's Tuesday night line dancing at Point Point Joint does not survive Lydia's retirement.  The last Tuesday dancers, pictured above, were Eden, Gigi, Rei, Nedy, Beth, Lydia, Nick, Nina, Edith and Robert, and DJ Bing (who held the camera).  Way back in 2010, Nina's Tuesday night line dancing switched to Point Point Joint when its previous home, the Jestoni Bistro Club, closed.  However, Nina and Friends recently started and will continue with Wednesday night line dancing at the Cora Anderson Dance Studio,  8990 Miramar Road, from 7:30pm until 9:30pm, for $7 a person.  Nina's #: 619-342-6774.

Anyway, it'll be another fun dance party again this Thursday night (September 3rd, and probably again on September 10th) at Point Point Joint with line dances and ballroom dances like swing including Manila Swing (also known as 4-count hustle or Philippine swing or Filipino swing), cha cha, night club 2-step, tango and much much more.  For this week's Dance Party on Thursday (September 3, 2015), Point Point Joint Restaurant, 916 E. 8th Street, National City, as usual will offer their special price of $10 for 2-entree dinner plus drink for Thursday Night dancers.

Here's the revised dance plan for Point Point Joint:

Thursday  September 3, 2015  6-10pm, DJ Nickie Bascos, Jr., 858-775-0139.

Thursday  September 10, 2015  6-10pm, DJ Bing Villafuerte.

Late September & on - Some of us are looking for a suitable place for mid-week night-time ballroom & line dancing.  More details next week.

See you on the dance floor,
Bert & Edith

P.S. Other Notes: (1) It'll be another fun (and cooler this week) ballroom and line dance party this is Thursday night September 3, 2015, in Point Point Joint Restaurant, a mere four miles from downtown San Diego.  While the dancing is continuous, there are dancers who are happy to give free one-on-one dance lessons during the dances, in case you don't know the steps of a particular dance.

There were lots of line dances, including non-stop from 6 to 7pm, as usual.    Above, line dancers enjoyed a new one, "Fly Like A Bird", with Nora and Edith in front.

We guys preferred the ballroom dances.  Robert and Gloria enjoyed dancing the rumba "Ballerina Girl"

Above, a few minutes later Ruben (who was one of the very energetic guy-dancers of the night) enjoyed dancing with Dolores to the rumba-tempo "As Long As You Love Me".

We welcomed Sally back to Thursday night at Point Point Joint.  She'd been away for most of a year. Above, she was dancing to the salsa "Acabo De Llegar" with another very energetic dancer, Joe

And, Joy was there.  I cannot remember how long since she'd been to Point Point.  Above she was dancing with Mel to the bachata or cha cha "Cuando Me Enamoro".

Above, I got to dance with the cheerful Edith R to a great salsa, "Mi Bom Bon".

Line dancers looked good till the end of the night.  Above Medy and my Edith were in front on "Uptown Funk".

And, Rima managed to coax her rarely-seen hubby Joel onto the dance floor for the last dance, "Goodnight Sweetheart Goodnight".

Very late, 21 dancers got together for a group photo.

It'll be one last fun dance party again this Thursday night at Point Point Joint with line dances and ballroom dances like swing including Manila Swing (also known as 4-count hustle or Philippine swing or Filipino swing), cha cha, night club 2-step, tango and much much more.  For this week's CARIBBEAN NIGHT Dance Party on Thursday (August 27, 2015), Point Point Joint Restaurant, 916 E. 8th Street, National City, as usual will offer their special price of $10 for 2-entree dinner plus drink for Thursday Night dancers, plus there will be complimentary snacks.

This will probably be the LAST THURSDAY NIGHT AT POINT POINT DANCE.  There will be prizes for best attire and (in addition to Point Point's $10 dinner special) lots of complimentary snacks and food.  Wear cool clothing because it'll be hot.

THURSDAY NIGHT AT POINT POINT JOINT (AUGUST 13, 2015):

There were lots of line dances, including non-stop from 6 to 7pm, as usual.  It was the warmest Thursday night of the year so far.  Nevertheless, line dancers enjoyed dances like the long-running favorite above, "Blurred Lines", with Nora and Elsie in front.

We guys preferred the ballroom dances.  Marcela was back, dancing above with Ruben to a rumba.

Above, dancing to the salsa "Ave Maria Lola", it was Robert with his wife Marylou.

Elsie and Ping enjoyed dancing to the boogie "Jailhouse Rock" in the photo above.

"Bachata Risma" seems to have been the favorite line dance lately.  Above, Edith and Gloria were in front dancing to it.

Ping brought several friends in for their first-time at Thursday night at Point Point Joint.  In the photo above, those friends surround him, while line dancers enjoyed "Runaway"

Line dancers looked good till the end of the night.  Above Eden and Elsie were in front on "More Than A Woman", one of the relatively new Thursday night line dances.

It's a fun dance party again this Thursday night at Point Point Joint with line dances and ballroom dances like swing including Manila Swing (also known as 4-count hustle or Philippine swing or Filipino swing), cha cha, night club 2-step, tango and much much more.  For this week's Dance Party on Thursday (August 20, 2015), Point Point Joint Restaurant, 916 E. 8th Street, National City, as usual will offer their special price of $10 for 2-entree dinner plus drink for Thursday Night dancers.

THURSDAY NIGHT AT POINT POINT JOINT (AUGUST 6, 2015):

There were plenty of line dances, including non-stop from 6 to 7pm.  Above, energetic early birds danced to a relatively new one, "Ballo Con La Luna" with Nora and Elsie in front.

We guys preferred the ballroom dances, like one of my favorites, "You  Never Can Tell" boogie.  Above, Dolores and Tito danced to it.

At the same time, there was a rare sight:  Nina was a ballroom DI showing first-timer Robert how to boogie.

Around 9pm "Uptown Funk" line dance packed the floor, with Elsie and Suzanne in front.

"Bachata Risma" line dance always packs the floor.  I saw Dolores, Gloria, Medy and Lou dancing it in the photo above.

A few minutes later I saw Suzanne enjoying dancing the rumba "Cada Vez" with Bert Alota.

Everyone was energetically enthusiastic through the very last dance.  In the photo above, Nina, Gloria and Dolores were in front making a turn while dancing to "Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel" just past 10pm.

THURSDAY NIGHT AT POINT POINT JOINT (JULY 30, 2015):

As usual, there were plenty of line dances, including non-stop from 6 to 7pm.  Above, it was the delightful "Somethin Stupid" with Nora and Marie in front.

Of course, we guys preferred the ballroom dances.  We gave a big "welcome back to Point Point" greeting to Mel (not the DJ, but the lady), whose previous Thursday night at Point Point was over a year ago.  Above, she was dancing with Gino to the hustle "TSOP".

And, Rima and Ruben enjoyed dancing to the merengue "Linda Eh".

A highlight of the night was a birthday party for Tito.  Above he's blowing out the candles on the birthday cake while he was surrounded by some of his admirers.

A little later Elsie and Ping looked very happy dancing to the bachata "Calma - No Me Entendio".

And, then Ly and the busy Ruben shared the floor with line dancers, while they enjoyed dancing the hustle or Manila Swing to "Uptown Funk".

Speaking of line dancers, the longtime favorite "Cupid Shuffle" had the dancers dancing even at closing time.  Ly, Edith and Elsie were in front on the photo above.

It's a fun dance party most every Thursday night at Point Point Joint with line dances and ballroom dances like swing including Manila Swing (also known as 4-count hustle or Philippine swing or Filipino swing), cha cha, night club 2-step, tango and much much more.  For this week's Dance Party on Thursday (August 6, 2015), Point Point Joint Restaurant, 916 E. 8th Street, National City, as usual will offer their special price of $10 for 2-entree dinner plus drink for Thursday Night dancers.
