Hello Dance Party People,
There'll be prizes, complimentary snacks and Mardi Gras beads at the Mardi Gras Dance Party this coming Thursday night Feb. 7, 2016, at Point Point Joint, 916 E. 8th Street, National City.  Join the fun!!  Wear some colorful trinkets and clothing and you might win a prize.  $8 to enter. The dinner buffet line food is from $5, and it includes a soda or a water bottle.  This is your invitation for non-stop line dancing from 6pm - 7pm, and from 7pm - 10pm it will be mixed ballroom (swing, cha cha, rumba, salsa, etc., etc.), plus line dancing.  The wonderful DJ Bing will play, and the weather forecast looks OK.

Last Thursday, about 20 dancers had fun to the music of DJ Bing Villafuerte.  Five photos below tell part of the fun story.

LAST THURSDAY NIGHT AT POINT POINT JOINT (JANUARY 28, 2016):

LINE DANCING was non-stop from 6pm to 7pm.  After that it was mostly ballroom dances, with line dances like "MOJO MAMBO" above, with Eden front and center.

BALLROOM DANCES.  We guys prefer the ballroom dances, and DJ Mel Zaragoza and Elma were dancing to one of them above.

MIXED ballroom and line dancing was common.  Above, Medy and Tito danced to the samba "Balla Con La Luna", while line dancers were behind them.

I KNEW THIS ONE:  "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" line dance with Ruben and Dolores also in the front line.

BACHATA RISMA, the "borracho y loco" line dance, had . . . well, Elma was in front, and Edith, Medy and Beth were sort of in the second line.

FLASHBACK  -  4 YEARS AGO, FEBRUARY 2, 2012:

FLASHBACK.  Above, it was a line dance in the Joint on Thursday February 2, 2012, with Nina, Zeny and Peter in the front line.

It's a really fun dance party most every Thursday night at Point Point Joint with line dances and ballroom dances like swing including Manila Swing (also known as 4-count hustle or Philippine swing or Filipino swing), cha cha, night club 2-step, tango and much much more.

Here's the plan for the next few weeks at Point Point:

Thursday  Feb. 4, 2016  6-10pm, MARDI GRAS DANCE, DJ Bing Villafuerte

Thursday  Feb. 11, 2016  6-10pm, VALENTINES PARTY, DJ Bing Villafuerte

Thursday  Feb. 18, 2016  6-10pm, DJ Bing Villafuerte

Thursday  Feb. 25, 2016  6-10pm, DJ Bing Villafuerte

Hoping to see you on the dance floor this coming Thursday,
Bert & Edith

P.S. Other Notes: (1) These are considered private parties, and this is your invitation to members of the email group to enjoy dancing in Point Point Joint Restaurant, 916 E. 8th Street, National City, a mere four miles from downtown San Diego.  While the dancing is continuous at these dances, in case you do not know the easy steps used for a particular dance, ask me & I'll get someone to give you a free dance lesson while the music plays.  Hmmm - I bet the simultaneous instructions while others dance make these, for example, the best merengue dance lessons in San Diego.

OK Dance Lovers,
The dancing fun continues this coming Thursday night Jan. 28, 2016, at Point Point Joint, 916 E. 8th Street, National City.  $8 to enter. The dinner deal was sweetened - now the buffet line food from $5 includes a soda or a water bottle.  This is your invitation for non-stop line dancing from 6pm - 7pm, and from 7pm - 10pm it will be mixed ballroom (swing, cha cha, rumba, salsa, etc., etc.), plus line dancing.  The incredible DJ Bing is back, and the weather looks good again this week.

Last Thursday, DJ Bing Villafuerte was back from the Philippines.  Thanks in part to Marie and 5 of her Prime Ladies of San Diego, there were 35 happy dancers in the Joint.  The eight photos below tell part of the fun story.

(Note: If the following photos do not appear when you look at this email, click the words at the top of this email that say something like "Show images which are still blocked to protect your privacy" - I already know who you are):

LAST THURSDAY NIGHT AT POINT POINT JOINT (JANUARY 21, 2016):

LINE DANCING non-stop from 6pm to 7pm included the cute-sounding "Africa Bum Bum", that DJ Mel introduced.  Above, early birds, including Edith in front, learned "Africa Bum Bum"

BALLROOM DANCES.  Well, you know we guys prefer the ballroom dances.  Above, it was Elma and DJ Mel - who has been skipping his trip to Italy for weeks now.

BORRACHO Y LOCO once again got us singing.  Above, Manolo, Patty, Edith and Heidi were in the front line dancing to "Bachata Risma".

SAN DIEGO FOREVER LIONS.  Several members of San Diego Forever Lions dropped in for a few minutes to say "Hi", after one of their meetings where they planned their upcoming "medical mission" to the Philippines.

DANCE WITH THE DJ.  Both Lou and DJ Bing, dancing above, were welcomed back after multi-week absences.  Bing went to the Philippines, and Lou cruised the Mexican Riviera.

PRIME LADIES OF SAN DIEGO demonstrated "And Let's Get It On".  Marie, in the purple vest between Beth, Nedy, Estrelle and Baby, choreographed this new line dance and has posted a video of her group dancing it on YouTube.  Marie's line dance group dances from 6pm-9pm on Thursdays at a church in the Bonita area of San Diego.

HEIDI was at the Joint again, dancing above with Nick to the rumba "Lo So Che Finirà."  Heidi is President of the Aklan Association of San Diego County which is organizing the ATI-ATIHAN Festival and Dance Party in San Diego to be held Saturday Jan. 30th in the Cora Anderson Dance Studio, 8990 Miramar Road, San Diego.

NERIZA - I got to dance with Neriza - to the rumba "Carino Mio", I think.

It's a really fun dance party most every Thursday night at Point Point Joint with line dances and ballroom dances like swing including Manila Swing (also known as 4-count hustle or Philippine swing or Filipino swing), cha cha, night club 2-step, tango and much much more.

Happy New Year Everyone!
Let's welcome 2016 this coming Thursday night Jan. 7, 2016, at Point Point Joint, 916 E. 8th Street, National City, with complimentary snacks, buffet line food from $5, and $10 to enter.  This is your invitation to the party:  Non-stop line dancing from 6pm - 7pm, and mixed ballroom (swing, cha cha, rumba, salsa, etc., etc.), plus line dancing from 7pm - 10pm.  The weather may be cool & moist, but the dance will be fun.

2015 Highlights (2nd half).  Here are 13 photos from July - December 2015 that show some of the fun & frolic at different places on Thursday nights.           (Note: If the following photos do not appear when you look at this email, click the words at the top of this email that say something like "Show images which are still blocked to protect your privacy" - I already know who you are):

2015 Highlights (2nd half of year):

'Bakit Pa' Singers.  I loved it. The ladies' enthusiasm was at full volume as they sang along to the he-did-her-wrong song "Bakit Pa" on HAWAIIAN NIGHT, July 23, 2015, in Point Point Joint.

WINNER!  Esther won a Hawaiian Night raffle Grand Prize of a MINI REFRIGERATOR donated by Nick Enriquez and Eden.  Earlier, Celi had won a microwave oven, also donated by Eden and Nick.

Ballroom Dancing is what the guys liked.  Above it was Elsie dancing a bachata with Ping on July 30, 2015, in Point Point Joint.

HAT NIGHT.  Above, on August 27, 2015, it was Hat Night at Point Point Joint, and most of the glamorous hat ladies lined up.  Lots got prizes.

LINE DANCES were non-stop from 6pm - 7pm on Thursday nights.  Above, Edith R was in the front line dancing one of the year's favorites, "Blurred Lines".  This photo was on Oct. 22, 2015, after we began dancing at Four Points by Sheraton on Aero Drive.  Point Point Joint underwent a management change in September.

Above, Eva & Dwayne enjoyed dancing on the wooden floor at Four Points on Oct. 22, 2015.

HALLOWEEN COSTUME DANCE PARTY was Oct. 29, 2015, at Four Points.  This cell phone photo captured only a little of the flavor of the great costumes.

FOOD AT FOUR POINTS.  Above, Nina, Rei and Belen enjoyed some of the appetizers that Nick and Eden provided for dancers on Thursday nights.  This photo was taken Oct. 29th.

DANCING AT MIRA MESA.  When we worried that Thursday night dancing would be a thing of the past, suddenly 3 places began Thursday night dancing catering to the Fil-Am dancers in San Diego.  Above, on Nov. 5, 2015, on the 1st night of "Dance The Night Away" at the Mira Mesa Senior Center, Esta and Lou were in the front line dancing to the waltz line dance.

GROUP PHOTO.  Back in Four Point's Skies Lounge on Nov. 12, 2015, dancers gathered for a group photo, with Dwayne, Rei and Nina seated in front.

BACK IN THE JOINT.  We got to return to dancing in the re-decorated Point Point Joint on Dec. 10th.  Above, it was the Christmas Dance Party attire winners on Dec. 17, 2015. Left to right:  Heidi, Esther, Eva, Dwayne, Evelyn and Rei

BORRACHO Y LOCO.  Romy, Mr. Avocado, above in the light green shirt dancing to the year's favorite line dance, "Bachata Risma", taught us some lyrics to that line dance.

CHRISTMAS PARTY DANCERS - well, many of them - lined up for a group photo near closing time on Dec 17, 2015.  Hmmm.  OK, 2 weeks ago I named the guys in the front row.  Who's in the 2nd row?  Left to right: Bernie, Neriza, Evelyn, Heidi, Nene, Eva, Nina, Eden, Rei and Beth.  Way in back is manager Tessie.

Hoping to see you on the dance floor this coming Thursday,
Bert & Edith
