Dance Party at Point Point This Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015

Hi Party Dancers!

It's going to be more fun & frolic on the Point Point dance floor this Thursday Feb. 5, 2015.  This is YOUR INVITATION to join the party.  I'll play swing, cha cha, cumbia, tango, and many more - and of course - LINE DANCING!  Point Point will offer us dancers their delicious $10 dinner special which includes a soft drink.  (More details below.).   So come on over - Party time:  from 6pm until 10pm at Point Point Joint, 916 E. 8th Street, National City.

Last Thursday about 50 dancers had a good time at "Animal Prints Night" and the 4th Anniversary Celebration of Thursday Night at Point Point Joint, featuring DJ Leo.  Ladies brought in lots of complementary food.  The following 11 photos tell part of the story.          (Note: If the following photos do not appear when you look at this email, click the words at the top of this email that say something like "Show images which are still blocked to protect your privacy" - I already know who you are):

"ANIMAL PRINTS" THURSDAY NIGHT AT POINT POINT JOINT (JAN. 29, 2015):

Here were some of the ladies who brought in extra food: Nene, Lydia, Nora, Nina, Rei and Merci.

Above it was Gloria and Nickie dancing to a night club 2-step.

Next to them, Medy and Florita were dancing.  Were they zebras or leopards?  I can't tell.

Josie and Romy (San Diego's Filipino Elvis) were also dancing the night club 2-step.

Lou danced in a leopard skin dress.  Above Lou was dancing with Tito to the same night club 2-step.

And, next to them it were Lito & Daisy.  Wow!  That's a night club 2-step move I'd like to learn.

DJ Leo, DJ Bing and DJ Mel who have DJ'd at Point Point for past 4 years prepared to blow out the Anniversary Cake candles.  (The guys were exempted from wearing Animal Prints.  DJ Mel & Susie had just returned from a visit to Italy.)

We welcomed Larry and Divine who had not been to Thursday night at Point Point Joint in a long time.  Above they were dancing to a salsa.

Nedy and Art (a relative new-comer to Thursday nights at Point Point) were also dancing to the salsa.

As usual there were plenty of line dances.  However, the most unusual one of the night was several of the guys "dancing" Jumbo Hot Dog.

It was well past closing time but the cameras just could not stop.  So, the late-nighters lined up for a group photo.

It's a fun dance party most every Thursday night at Point Point Joint with line dances and ballroom dances like swing including Manila Swing (also known as 4-count hustle or Philippine swing or Filipino swing), cha cha, night club 2-step, tango and much much more.  For this week's dance party on Thursday (February 5, 2015), Point Point Joint Restaurant, 916 E. 8th Street, National City, as usual will offer their special price of $10 for 2-entree dinner plus drink for Thursday Night dancers.

Here's the plan for the next few weeks at Point Point:

Thursday  February 5, 2015   6-10pm, DJ Bert

Thursday  February 12, 2015  6-10pm, Valentines Dance Party with DJ Bing Villafuerte, 858-610-7514

Thursday  February 19, 2015  6-10pm, DJ Bing Villafuerte, 858-610-7514

Thursday  February 26, 2015  6-10pm, DJ TBD

See you on the dance floor,
Bert & Edith

P.S. Other Notes: (1) These are really fun ballroom and line dance parties.  This is dancing in San Diego on Thursday nights - they are private parties, and this is your invitation to members of the email group to enjoy dancing in Point Point Joint Restaurant, a mere four miles from downtown San Diego.  While the dancing is continuous, there are dancers who are happy to give free dance one-on-one lessons during the dances, in case you don't know the steps of a particular dance.  Hmmm - I bet the simultaneous instructions while others dance make these, for example, great swing dancing lessons in San Diego.

Hi Wild Ones!

Ladies - You can wear those wild prints on the Point Point dance floor this Thursday Jan. 29, 2015.  This is YOUR INVITATION to join the party.  Lots of extra food will be on the tables for a "4th Anniversary" celebration.  The incredible DJ Leo will play swing, cha cha, cumbia, tango, and many more - and of course - LINE DANCING!  Point Point will offer us dancers their delicious $10 dinner special which includes a soft drink.  (More details below.).   So come on over - Party time:  from 6pm until 10pm at Point Point Joint, 916 E. 8th Street, National City.

There were 30 dancers at last Thursday's Dance Party for a fun night of exuberance and dancing to the music of DJ Bing.  The following 6 photos tell part of the story.          (Note: If the following photos do not appear when you look at this email, click the words at the top of this email that say something like "Show images which are still blocked to protect your privacy" - I already know who you are):

LAST THURSDAY NIGHT AT POINT POINT JOINT (JAN. 22, 2015):

If we'd had a Best Costume Contest, Daisy and Lito would have won.  They had just come from a Chinese New Year dance party at Balboa Park. In the photo above, they were dancing to a rumba.

Lots of line dances were played during the night, as usual.  Above Medy (in front) was happily dancing to "Let's Mambo Together".

A little later Gloria & Tito were dancing to a night club 2-step.

Ping & Nene also danced to the same night club 2-step.

Edith, Florita and Medy were in front on the "Carinito" line dance.

A while later Ruben and Mercy enjoyed dancing to "Dancing Queen".

4 YEARS AGO - Remembering the 1st two weeks of Thursday Night at Point Point Joint in early 2011:

"Volare" line dance was played a lot at Point Point when dancing started there.  Above, on the 1st Thursday night at Point Point, dancing to "Volare" it was Mona, Divine and Nina were in the front row.

"Asi Asi" was another much-played line dance four years ago.  Again on Jan. 27, 2011, the photo above shows line dancers like Jona, Edith and Carmen dancing "Asi Asi".  You can see DJ Leo in yellow in the back.

A week later, Thursday Feb. 3, 2011, line dancing to "Simplemente", it was Liz in front with Angie behind her.

A minute later they were dancing to "Volare" - Luna, Beth and Penny in front.  Other much-played line dances in early 2011:  "Coco Jamboo", "Cumbia Semana", "If You Wanna Be Happy", "Rose Garden", "Sex Bomb", "S'mera", and "Tennessee Waltz".

It's a fun dance party most every Thursday night at Point Point Joint with line dances and ballroom dances like swing including Manila Swing (also known as 4-count hustle or Philippine swing or Filipino swing), cha cha, night club 2-step, tango and much much more.  For this week's dance party on Thursday (January 29, 2015), Point Point Joint Restaurant, 916 E. 8th Street, National City, as usual will offer their special price of $10 for 2-entree dinner plus drink for Thursday Night dancers.

Here's the plan for the next few weeks at Point Point:

Thursday  January 29, 2015   6-10pm, 4th "Anniversary" Party, DJ Leo  (Ladies: It is also "Animal Prints Night")

Thursday  February 5, 2015   6-10pm, DJ Bert

Thursday  February 12, 2015  6-10pm, Valentines Dance Party with DJ Bing Villafuerte, 858-610-7514

It will be more fun & frolic on the Point Point dance floor this Thursday Jan. 22, 2015.  This is YOUR INVITATION to join the party.  The wonderful DJ Bing will play swing, cha cha, cumbia, tango, and many more - and of course - LINE DANCING!  Point Point will offer us dancers their delicious $10 dinner special which includes a soft drink.  (More details below.).   So come on over - Party time:  from 6pm until 10pm at Point Point Joint, 916 E. 8th Street, National City.

Thanks in part to Esta and some RMX all-star dancers, and at least 3 first-timers, there were 45 dancers at last Thursday's Black & White Dance Party for a fun night of exuberance and dancing to the music of DJ Bing.  The following 8 photos tell part of the story.          (Note: If the following photos do not appear when you look at this email, click the words at the top of this email that say something like "Show images which are still blocked to protect your privacy" - I already know who you are):

LAST THURSDAY NIGHT AT POINT POINT JOINT (JAN. 15, 2015):

It was Black & White Dance Party Night.  Above - Florita and Mona danced to the bachata "Corazon Sin Cara".

A while later Solly & Tito danced the boogie to "Wake Me Up".

Then, it looked like Mel (not DJ Mel, but the other Mel) was really enjoying dancing with Nedy to the samba "Bailamos".

Then, I got to dance with Jinnie.  We danced Manila Swing to "Get Ready".

Heidi and Ruben looked good when they danced the tango "Roman Guitar".

And, next to them Dione and Mercy looked good dancing to the same tango.

There were many line dances during the night.  It was near closing time when "Bachata Risma" came on, and line dancers filled the floor.  Edith was in front giving me instructions, while Suzanne and Nedy were behind her.  Some of us were "singing" along to the "borracho y loco" lyrics.

We went into "overtime" when DJ Bing played the new song "I'm Not The Only One" and the line dancers danced to the steps of "Simplemente".
During the night, we also "mastered" "All About That Bass" line dance that was videorecorded the previous week.

It's a fun dance party most every Thursday night at Point Point Joint with line dances and ballroom dances like swing including Manila Swing (also known as 4-count hustle or Philippine swing or Filipino swing), cha cha, night club 2-step, tango and much much more.  For this week's dance party on Thursday (January 22, 2015), Point Point Joint Restaurant, 916 E. 8th Street, National City, as usual will offer their special price of $10 for 2-entree dinner plus drink for Thursday Night dancers.
