Hello Dancers, 

 Merry Christmas.!!!  You are invited to a NEW YEAR MASQUERADE DANCE PARTY this Thursday December 28, 2023, at Eastlake Shores, 2050 Lakeshore Drive, Chula Vista. There'll be lots of dancing, fun, food, and beverages. Masquerade winners vie for prizes. It's a "private party" and this is your invitation.  Dancers are welcome to bring a dish of food to share.  The wonderful DJ Bing Villafuerte will play for line dancing 6pm-7pm, and mixed ballroom & line dances until 10pm.

  DIRECTIONS: Take H Street east to Eastlake Drive.  Go right one block, then turn right onto Lakeshore Drive. Then, turn left immediately into the parking lot of 2050 Lakeshore Drive.  The Eastlake Shores Clubhouse is behind the gated fence.

 SORRY, but there will be NO DANCE PARTY this Thursday December 21, 2023, at Eastlake.  The Eastlake HOA slashed our dance schedule, again.  The next Eastlake Thursday night dance is scheduled for the following Thursday December 28th for the New Year's Masquerade Dance Party.

A CHRISTMAS & DECEMBER BIRTHDAYS DANCE PARTY was at Eastlake last Thursday, December 14th, with DJ Nickie Bascos, on a cool but dry night.  There were almost 60 in attendance, close to the most in 2023.  There was a lot going on.  BEFORE EATING, dancers posed for the group photo above. Nedy gave a blessing for the food, thankfulness for bringing us all together.

 

 

 

 LINE DANCING was non-stop from 6 to 7pm, and off and on with ballroom dances until 10PM.  In the photo above, many from Bing & Janet's Group danced a special number called "Watermelon Moonshine" ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVL2lHzAE4A ).  You can see John and Faye in the front line, and Annie and Nida behind them.

 

 

 

 FRIENDS, I was told, is the name of the dance group in the photo above.  Although the FRIENDS group is a new one to me, they danced very nicely to a special number of the song, "Let's Groove Tonight" ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wAMt_XPvoQY ). Sheila and Karina were in the front line, more or less.  Beth, Nedy and Eden were next, and Connie was in back.

 

 

 

 BIRTHDAY CELEBRANTS posed behind the Christmas/Birthday cake that was baked by Myra (Veronica).  The celebrants were holding gift cards handed out by DJ Nickie, which included a little gift and some cash.  Rima was substituting for her daughter Jamila.  Also celebrating their December birthdays in the photo above were Estrelle, Nida, Edwin, and Edna.

 

 

 

 DANCING JOYOUSLY, in the photo above, some ladies including Nida were enjoying dancing in a circle around Romy who was singing "Pretty Young Girl" ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-eMnHTAjdk ).

CLUBHOUSE RESERVATION ISSUES.  Various issues in regards to Thursday dancing in the Eastlake HOA Clubhouse remain unresolved.   The requirement to keep the bathrooms locked at all times is proving to be difficult.

So, if you have a birthday in December or would like a Christmas Party, please come.  (Our reservation for December 21st was cancelled by the HOA.) There'll be lots of dancing, fun, food, and beverages. It's possible that DJ Eric will make a guest appearance, too.

CLUBHOUSE RESERVATION ISSUES.  Various issues in regards to Thursday dancing in the Eastlake HOA Clubhouse remain unresolved. The latest is the matter of cancelling "our" Thursday night reservations. The HOA Board seems willing to waive the weekly rental fee and the need to make frequent reservation requests.  However, the requirement to keep the bathrooms locked at all times is proving to be difficult.

A COWBOY & WESTERN NIGHT DANCE PARTY was at Eastlake last Thursday, November 30th, with DJ Bing Villafuerte.  There were almost 60 in attendance, one of the biggest parties of 2023, thanks in part to five 1st-timers, and a lot was going on.  Here are 6 photos from last Thursday's Cowboy & Western Night Dance Party:

  BALLROOM DANCING was in abundance.  In Nedy's selfie above, Aida and first-timer Pete were enjoying what looks like a swing or night club 2-step.

 

 

 LINE DANCING was non-stop from 6 to 7pm, and off and on with ballroom dances until 10PM.  And, there were some SPECIAL NUMBERS, like in the photo above.  The Eastlake Dancers performed a line dance to "I'm On My Way" ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2FMlbtjjnJg ).  You can see Lolit and Geraldine more or less in front, with Irish, Esther, Mary Jane and Roland behind them.

 WINNING COUPLES in Cowboy & Western attire posed for the photo above.  They were Dwayne & Eva, Pete & Aida, Faye & John, Irish & Roland, Connie & Ric, Geraldine & Romi, Guillermo & Gloria, and Lolit & Michael.  Three other couples were winners but they were not in this photo - Joe & Nora, DJ Bing & Janet, and John & Elaine. Some prizes were donated by Josie & Rei (who both handed out the prizes).

 

 

 WINNING SINGLES in Cowboy & Western attire costumes posed in the photo above.  They were Nida, Rossana, Aida, May, Joy (a 1st-timer), Edith ( a 1st-timer), Jhosie, Annie, Liz, Gemma, Nedy, Manny, Mary Jane, Sheila & Eden.  Beth, Josie, Rei, Myra, Lydia, and Charito, were also in winning Cowboy & Western attire, but they were not in this photo.


CLUBHOUSE RESERVATION ISSUES.  Ruben provided a great explanation at 8pm on Thursday night of the results of the preceding Monday's HOA Board meeting, in regards to Thursday dancing in the Clubhouse.  He and Roland and Sammy were very successful in getting favorable terms for Thursday night dancing.  In particular, the HOA Board seems willing to waive the weekly rental fee and the need to make frequent reservation requests.  In return, keeping the bathrooms locked at all times will be required, with certain people having keys to open the bathroom doors, due to some recent vandalism.

It's a "private party" and this is your invitation.  Dancers are welcome to bring a dish of food to share.  The amazing DJ Bing Villafuerte will play for line dancing 6pm-7pm, and mixed ballroom & line dances until 10pm.  Cool and possibly rainy weather is currently forecast for Thursday night. Ruben & Roland plan to meet the Eastlake HOA directors tomorrow (the 27th) to request no additional fees or restrictions on our use of the clubhouse.

REDUCED SCHEDULE & ON-GOING ISSUES.  Well, besides reducing our schedule (per above list), the Eastlake HOA is proposing additional difficulties for our dance parties.  Ruben and Roland plan to attend the November 27th HOA Board meeting to request less changes.

A NOVEMBER BIRTHDAYS DANCE PARTY was at Eastlake last Thursday, November 2nd, with DJ Bing Villafuerte.  There were 45 in attendance, thanks in part to three 1st-timers.  Here are 7 photos from last Thursday's Halloween & Birthday Dance Party:

 

 

BY THE LAKE, ONE MORE TIME.  Early in the evening there were people posing by Eastlake, on the last Thursday before the end of Daylight Saving Time.  Daylight Saving Time returns in mid-March. In the photo above you see Janet, Nora, Annie, Rei and Edith posing.

 

 

 

 LINE DANCING was non-stop from 6 to 7pm, and off and on with ballroom dances until 10PM.  In the photo above, you can see Irish, Connie and Edna in the front line, more or less, enjoying a line dance.

 

 

 

 BALLROOM DANCING was plentiful.  In the photo above John and Faye were enjoying what appears to be a night club 2-step.

 

 

 

 GROUP PHOTO.  Well, there were 100's of group photos taken on Thursday night.  The photo above was part of a celebration of a performance of the Eastlake Dance Group, who danced a line dance at the UPI 2023 Dance-a-Thon Group Dance Contest and won 1st Place. Edith & I held a Certificate of Recognition from UPI and a photo of the winning Eastlake Dance Group.

 

 

 

 THE EASTLAKE DANCE GROUP, well at least four of them, danced at the party. You can see Roland, Lolit, Geraldine and Irish line dancing a "special number".  They were dancing the "Poco Loco" line dance ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LIN4oRZ9KYY ).

 

 

 THE BIRTHDAY CAKE & CUPCAKES (in the photo above) were more delicious creations by Veronica. The cake featured three layers separated by vanilla filling, and incredible decorations.

NOVEMBER BIRTHDAYS DANCE PARTY at Eastlake Thursday November 2, 2023

Hello Dancers,  

    You are invited to a NOVEMBER BIRTHDAYS DANCE PARTY this Thursday November 2, 2023, at Eastlake Shores, 2050 Lakeshore Drive, Chula Vista. There'll be lots of dancing, fun, food, beverages, roses for birthday ladies and balloons.  It's a "private party" and this is your invitation. AND, it is our last dance party until the end of November, so please come, especially if you have a birthday in November. Dancers are welcome to bring a dish of food to share.  The miraculous DJ Bing Villafuerte will play for line dancing 6pm-7pm, and mixed ballroom & line dances until 10pm.  Dry and mild weather is currently forecast for Thursday night, again.  

 DIRECTIONS: Take H Street east to Eastlake Drive.  Go right one block, then turn right onto Lakeshore Drive. Then, turn left immediately into the parking lot of 2050 Lakeshore Drive.  The Eastlake Shores Clubhouse is behind the gated fence.

 PROPOSED CHANGES AT EASTLAKE.   The Eastlake HOA is proposing changes for the Eastlake clubhouse.  They are summarized above.  These proposals are additional difficulties for our dance parties.  Ruben presented a great explanation & analysis of the proposed changes during a question & answer discussion at the Halloween party at Eastlake.  He and Roland plan to attend to November HOA Board meeting to request less changes. 

 

 SCHEDULE DISRUPTION. After this Thursday, there will be three Thursdays with no dance parties at Eastlake.  However, the schedule pasted above shows that we'll have dance parties every Thursday in December, including a CHRISTMAS DANCE PARTY and a NEW YEARS MASQUERADE PARTY.

A HALLOWEEN AND OCTOBER BIRTHDAYS DANCE PARTY was at Eastlake last Thursday, October 19th, with DJ Bing Villafuerte.  There were almost 60 in attendance, one of the biggest parties of 2023, thanks in part to six 1st-timers, and a lot was going on.  Here are 7 photos from last Thursday's Halloween & Birthday Dance Party:

 

 BY THE LAKE.  Early in the evening there were people posing by Eastlake, most in Halloween costumes. In the photo above you see Guillermo & Gloria (1st-timers), Ric & Connie, Lolit & Michael, Annie, Irish, Janet, Beth, Rei, Nora, Faye & John, and Belen posing.

 

 

 BEFORE EATING, dancers posed for the group photo above. Nedy gave a remembrance of Helen Vergara who had been a dancer at Eastlake and who died earlier in October.  Then, Nedy gave a blessing for the food, thankfulness for bringing us all together. 

 

 

 LINE DANCING was non-stop from 6 to 7pm, and off and on with ballroom dances until 10PM.  In the photo above, you can see Geraldine, Lolit, Roland and Irish line dancing a "special number".  They were dancing the "All Summer" line dance ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QyT6fYDIc2Y ).

  WINNING COUPLES in Halloween costume posed for the photo above.  They were Dwayne & Eva, Michael & Lolit, Geraldine & Romi, Irish & Roland, Connie & Ric (who was taking this photo), and 1st-timers Gloria & Guillermo (who was adjusting his mask).  Four other couples were winners but they were not in this photo - Joe & Nora, Faye & John, Ver & Ditas, and Rima & Joel. Prizes were donated by Josie & Rei (who both handed out the prizes), and Geraldine.

 

 

 WINNING SINGLES in Halloween costumes posed in the photo above.  They were Yolanda (1st-timer), Rossana, Apple, Manny, Nida, May, 1st-timer Angie (Angelita), Janet, Annie, Nedy, Ver, and Sheila.   Beth and Karina were also costumed winners, but they were not in this photo.
