THURSDAY NIGHT AT POINT POINT JOINT (MAY 28, 2015):

There were lots of line dances, as usual, including non-stop 6pm - 7pm, and including some relatively new ones like "All About That Bass" and "Baby One More Time".  Above Merci and Nedy were in front dancing one of the favorites, "Carinito".

Later on, it was Edith and Nedy in front on another favorite, "Aguardiente".

We guys mostly preferred the ballroom dances.  Above, Eden & Nick were dancing the cumbia "San Fernando".

Later on, the nice bachata "Be My Baby" inspired Dolores and Ralph to dance.

Near them, Tito and Gloria were also dancing the bachata "Be My Baby".

It's a fun dance party most every Thursday night at Point Point Joint with line dances and ballroom dances like swing including Manila Swing (also known as 4-count hustle or Philippine swing or Filipino swing), cha cha, night club 2-step, tango and much much more.  For this week's Dance Party on Thursday (June 4, 2015), Point Point Joint Restaurant, 916 E. 8th Street, National City, as usual will offer their special price of $10 for 2-entree dinner plus drink for Thursday Night dancers.

Bert #1 Featured in Today's Paper (May 24, 2015)

Hi Dancers,

The venerable Bert Andrade, who some of us call "Bert #1", was featured in an article in today's Union-Tribune, Sunday May 24, 2015, along with fellow veteran Lee Leano, as part of the paper's Memorial Day special section. Bert Andrade is a frequent dancer at Thursday nights at Point Point Joint.  In case you did not see the article, the article is copied below (you'll need to zoom in to read the words).

Bert Andrade (on the right) is wearing one of the red, white & blue ties that he was selling to us at Point Point a couple weeks ago.  Besides dancing, he is a frequent karaoke singer at places like Gapo Restaurant.  And, he is very active in many civic organizations.

After World War II, Bert Andrade joined the US Navy and he was a Korean War veteran.

Hoping to see you Thursday,

Bert

THURSDAY NIGHT AT POINT POINT JOINT (MAY 21, 2015):

There were lots of line dances, as usual.  Surprisingly, at 7pm there were already 35 dancers in the Joint enjoying non-stop line dancing which went on till 7pm.  Above Edith, Suzanne and Nedy were in front dancing to "Mamita Mia".

Later on, it was Nickie and Eva in front on "Let's Groove Tonight".

Nedy and Morris looked good dancing the boogie "Runaround Sue".

Texting is a major pastime at any of these dances.  Above Eva and Dwayne were - well, I think they were texting friends that they were having a wonderful time at Point Point.

Around closing time it was time for more pictures.  All the ladies lined up with Edith sitting - partly because she had a birthday earlier in the week.

THURSDAY NIGHT AT POINT POINT JOINT (MAY 14, 2015):

Estrelle won one of the Best Attire prizes from Nina.

Cindy and Chito dropped by on one of their very rare trips to Thursday night at Point Point Joint.  They are organizers of "Dance For A Cause" on Saturday June 27th at Mater Dei Catholic Parish.

"Bachata Risma" continues to be one of the most popular line dances.  Edith & Beth are in front.  Lots of flowers here:  In the 2nd row, left to right it's Tito and Gloria who were also Best Attire prize winners and at the far right it's Josie.  In the 3rd row, left to right it's Marilyn (winner of last week's best attire prize), Romy and Elsie.

Eva & Dwayne danced to the night club 2-step "Nikita".

At closing time it was the other line dance favorite "Carinito".  Left to right in front it was Lito and Nora who also won a Best Attire prize. In the 2nd row Medy looks like she's going to fly with the biggest flower print.

MEXICAN NIGHT AT POINT POINT JOINT (MAY 7, 2015):

Line dancers had a great time - including non-stop from 6 to 7pm.  While "Bachata Risma" was playing, four lovely ladies paused and posed.  Left to right: Edith, Medy, Gloria and Josie.

Around eight, Romy brought in a treasure trove of treats - avocados.  There was just enough time to snap a photo of the box being opened.  Left to right: Mike (who was one of the MEXICAN NIGHT costume prize winners), Jake, Romy, Nina and Lydia.

In the following frenzy, the avocados were gone in about 60 seconds.

Marilyn and Romy (who had brought in the avocados) won the MEXICAN NIGHT costume grand prize.  Marilyn had made the dress herself, using colors of the Mexican national flag.  Above, they were dancing the rumba "Hey".

Nedy won one of the costume prizes.  Above she was dancing a samba with Art.  Nedy said she'd bought the dress in Tijuana!

Also Penny and Ruben were happily dancing the samba "Bailamos".

I enjoyed dancing "Baila Esta Cumbia" with Ly.
