A Sad Announcement, Again

Hello Dancers,

Another very sad message:  Dolores, the mother of Martha and Belem passed away back on October 28th.  She was 86 years old.

She was Maria Dolores Fernandes, and she was born on June 21, 1934, in Mexico.  Later she moved to the US, and lived in the San Diego area.  Dolores had danced Thursday nights at Eastlake several times, and both Ruben and I danced with her and her daughters several times. Dolores loved dancing, her favorites being cha cha, such as by Tito Puente, and salsa, such as by Celia Cruz. And, she loved cooking.  Besides 5 children, Dolores is survived by many
grandchildren and great grandchildren. They remember her as loving, giving, and dedicated to her family.

Dolores's final days are reported by her daughter Martha in the email below. Dolores was getting wonderful help from the Art of Hospice Care of San Diego.

Please pray for the soul of Dolores, and pray for the continued good health of her daughters Martha and Belem and their families.

With regrets,
Bert & Edith

Hi Bert,

I hope you are doing well.

I really miss seeing you.

I have some sad news. My dear Mother passed away on October 28. She had a urine infection. Later she fell and fractured her hip, had hip surgery, and her dementia got a lot worse. She really enjoyed being with you all and often talked about hopefully going back to seeing you all.

Thank you for your e-mails and keeping us posted.

If you have any pictures of videos of my mom please let everyone know my phone # and e-mail address so they can send them to me whenever it is possible.

Many blessings to you all.  Please say hi to Edith for me.

Sad Announcement

 Hello Dancers,

A very sad message came today that Nina's Mother passed away earlier today, Tuesday January 19, 2021.  She was Cecilia Jose Anson, and she was born on January 19, 1931.  Yes, today was her 90th birthday.  Mrs. Anson was born and raised in Cavite, Philippines, and so she was a Cavitena.  Nina Anson, who is our Director of Finance for the Eastlake Thursday Night Dancers, was the eldest of Mrs. Anson's seven children.  Mrs. Anson had been in declining health and passed away in a Chula Vista nursing home of natural causes.
A viewing is scheduled for Friday, February 19, 2021, at the Chapel of Roses at Glen Abbey, 3838 Bonita Road, Bonita.  A funeral mass is scheduled for the following day, Saturday February 20th, at 10am at St. Michael's Church, 2643 Homedale Street, San Diego.  Interment is scheduled for 11:30am February 20th at Glen Abbey.
Please pray for the soul of Mrs. Anson, and pray for the continued good health of her daughter Nina and her family.

With regrets,
Bert & Edith

NO DANCE PARTIES at Eastlake Thursday January 21, 2021, and until further notice

Hello Dancers,

Thursday evening dancing at Eastlake remains cancelled until further notice due to coronavirus, including next Thursday, January 21, 2021. I hope everybody remains healthy and avoids the flu and coronavirus.
The coronavirus epidemic statistics published for San Diego County continued to be bad over the past 3 weeks. The rate of new intensive care admissions was about 5 per day, and the rate of deaths over the past three weeks climbed to about 30 per day. Although the County has gotten close to 100,000 coronavirus vaccine doses over the past month, only about 20,000 have been used, and only a few 100 to seniors. San Diego City will request vaccine shipments directly to the City to bypass the County's logjam.
I'm now only sending these emails every 3 weeks.

Here's the dance party plan for the next few Thursdays at Eastlake:

No dances, until further notice.

Hoping to see you again soon on the dance floor,
Bert & Edith
