Thursday Night Dance at Point Point on Sept 4, 2014

Hi Again Dancers,
We'll have another warm, wild and fun dance party this Thursday night at Point Point Joint, September 4, 2014, and this is YOUR INVITATION to be there.  The DJ is still to be determined, but whoever it is will be playing swing, cha cha, cumbia, tango, and many more - and of course - LINE DANCING!  Point Point will offer us dancers their delicious $10 dinner special which includes a soft drink.  (More details below.).  So come on over - Party time:  from 6pm until 10pm at Point Point Joint, 916 E. 8th Street, National City.

Last Thursday August 28, 2014, just over 30 dancers enjoyed a warm dance party.  The five photos below show part of the story.         (Note: If the following photos do not appear when you look at this email, click the words at the top of this email that say something like "Show images which are still blocked to protect your privacy" - I already know who you are):

THURSDAY NIGHT AT POINT POINT JOINT (AUGUST 28, 2014):

Once again there was no shortage of line dances, including non-stop from 6 to 7pm.  In the photo above, Florita is in front on "Bachata Risma"

Above we see that Medy came back, dancing a bachata here with Florita.

A special guest - Sisi - was back in Point Point after a year or two's absence.  Here she is dancing a merengue with Gino.

I told Suzanne that I loved her  - what is it? Dress?  Well, whatever, it looked good on her.  Here she is dancing with Bert Alota.

Gloria and Tito were enjoying a night club two-step.

It's a fun dance party most every Thursday night at Point Point Joint with line dances and ballroom dances like swing including Manila Swing (also known as 4-count hustle or Philippine swing or Filipino swing), cha cha, night club 2-step, tango and much much more.  For this weeks' Dance Party on Thursday (September 4, 2014), Point Point Joint Restaurant, 916 E. 8th Street, National City, as usual offers their special price of $10 for 2-entree dinner plus drink for Thursday Night dancers.

Here's the plan for the next few weeks at Point Point:

Thursday  September 4, 2014  6-10pm, DJ is still TBD

Thursday  September 11, 2014  6-10pm, DJ Mel Zaragoza

Thursday  September 18, 2014  6-10pm, DJ Bert (that's me)

Thursday  September 25, 2014  6-10pm, DJ Bing

See you on the dance floor,
Bert & Edith

P.S. Other Notes: (1) The Thursday night dance parties are private parties, and this is the invitation to members of the email group to enjoy dancing in Point Point Joint Restaurant, a mere four miles from downtown San Diego.  While the dancing is continuous, there are dancers who are happy to give free dance lessons during the dances, in case you don't know the steps of a particular dance.  Hmmm - I bet the simultaneous instruction while others dance makes this the best free dance lessons in San Diego.

Dance at Point Point this Thursday August 28, 2014

Hello Dancers,
You bet we'll have fun dancing and partying this Thursday night at Point Point Joint, August 28, 2014, and this is YOUR INVITATION to be there.  The phenomenal DJ Mel Zaragoza will be playing swing, cha cha, cumbia, tango, and many more - and of course - LINE DANCING!  Point Point will offer us dancers their delicious $10 dinner special which includes a soft drink.  (More details below.).  So come on over - Party time:  from 6pm until 10pm at Point Point Joint, 916 E. 8th Street, National City.

THURSDAY NIGHT AT POINT POINT JOINT (AUGUST 21, 2014):

We had a whole bunch of line dances again, including non-stop from 6 to 7pm.  This picture shows Nina, Zeny and Belen in front on "Linda Eh".

I think the highlight of the evening was the surprise - Marie, leader of the Prime Ladies of San Diego, came with Lolita, another Prime Lady of San Diego.  And, we got lessons on two line dances.  Above we see Marie leading on "Disco Cha Cha Line Dance."

Marie was very busy dancing ballroom dances, too.  Here she's dancing with Dione to the bachata "Down Down".

I went around the room snapping pictures during the bachata "Down Down".  Here we see Gino and Nedy dancing to it.

And Gloria and Tito were also dancing the bachata.

Bert Alota and Suzanne were also dancing to it.

And guess what.  I got to dance with one of the best Prime Ladies of San Diego, Lolita.  I was having so much fun Thursday night that I did not feel the warm air.  By the way, Edith became the designated bouncer after she coaxed a couple of homeless interlopers out the door.

Timber Line Dance - Florita was rollicking so much on Timber that I recorded about half a minute of it and posted it on YouTube.  I'll try to record more the next time.

THURSDAY NIGHT AT POINT POINT JOINT (AUGUST 14, 2014):

There was no shortage of line dances. They were non-stop from 6 to 7pm.  This picture shows Ruben, Florita and Trining in front on "Bachata Risma".  Other favorite line dances were "Carinito" and "Cowboy Cumbia".  Some new line dances were introduced, including "Fall In Love".

It was great to see Boyet and Liz - they hadn't dropped by Point Point in a long time. Asked when we'll see them again, Liz said, "Someday", if I remember right.

Above, it was Tito and Gloria dancing a bachata.

Nene and Jake were also dancing the bachata.

Here we see that Eva and Dwayne were having a fun time.

Another rarely-seen-at-Point Point person, Joel Sims, was there Thursday night.  He watched from the upper level.  Meanwhile, Rima was dancing, here dancing a cumbia with Ruben.

Lots of line dances again.  This picture shows Lou, Gloria, Florita and Edith in front on "Bachata Risma".  Other favorite line dances were "Carinito" and "Spanish Eyes".  "Aguardiente" and "Timber" continue to gain a following.

Several good photos during the cumbia "Desvelado".  First it was Bert Alota and Suzanne.

It was Romy who first had us play "Desvelado" last year.  So, of course he & Marilyn danced to it.

The Golden Girl Susie had fun dancing "Desvelado" with DJ Mel.

And, Gino and Solly looked mighty good dancing the cumbia, too.

A while later, with Point Point nice and warm Tito and Florita were dancing to "Disco Inferno".

And, right next to them I got to dance it with Josie.

It's a fun dance party most every Thursday night at Point Point Joint with line dances and ballroom dances like swing including Manila Swing (also known as 4-count hustle or Philippine swing or Filipino swing), cha cha, night club 2-step, tango and much much more.  For this weeks' Dance Party on Thursday (August 14, 2014), Point Point Joint Restaurant, 916 E. 8th Street, National City, as usual offers their special price of $10 for 2-entree dinner plus drink for Thursday Night dancers.

Big Dance Party at Point Point this Thursday August 7, 2014 - with photos

Hi Dance & Party People,

It will be another warm & wonderful dance party this Thursday night at Point Point Joint, August 7, 2014.  And this is YOUR INVITATION to join the  fun this coming Thursday.  The spectacular DJ Mel Zaragoza will be playing swing, cha cha, cumbia, tango, and many more - and of course - LINE DANCING!  Point Point will offer us dancers their fabulous $10 dinner special which includes a soft drink.  (More details below.).  So come on over - Party time:  from 6pm until 10pm at Point Point Joint, 916 E. 8th Street, National City.

Last Thursday July 31, 2014, about 35 dancers had a lot going on.  The big but SAD news was that DJ Mel's older brother, Pete Zaragoza, had just died and Mel was up in L.A. for the services.  Nina Anson led the dancers at Point Point in a moment of prayer for Pete and the Zaragoza family.  I was the DJ on Thursday.

The nine photos below show some of the fun we had at Hawaiian Night.         (Note: If the following photos do not appear when you look at this email, click the words at the top of this email that say something like "Show images which are still blocked to protect your privacy" - I already know who you are):

THURSDAY NIGHT AT POINT POINT JOINT (JULY 31, 2014):

Hawaiian Night had lots of line dancing - half were between 6-7pm.  Above you see the "Blurred Lines" dancers.  Other ones I liked were "Carinito", "Aguardiente" and "It's So Easy".  "It's So Easy" was videorecorded and put on YouTube.

Hawaiian Night attire was everywhere.  Three couples got prizes for Best Attire.  Above it was Bert Alota and Suzanne, standing with Edith.

Tito thanked everyone after he & Gloria got their prize.

The most brilliant prize winners were Eva and Dwayne - Eva was wearing flashing lights in her crown of flowers.

Here several of the nicely dressed ladies posed.  Left-to-right:  Ly, Edith, Cora, Eva, Rima, Marilyn and Suzanne.

Jenny made one of her rare visits to Thursday night at Point Point Joint.  Here she was dancing with Nickie.

Ruben and Rima had fun dancing the salsa, "Ave Maria Lola".

And I got to dance with Ly

TUESDAY NIGHT LINE DANCING 6 - 9PM
Nina's line dancing continues, now entering its 5th year at Point Point Joint.  Last Tuesday (July 29th) Bing showed new line dances to the eleven dancers above.

New YouTube Video - "It's So Easy" Line Dance.  The Hawaiian Night dancers looked mighty fine dancing to this relatively new (to us anyway) line dance.  click  http://youtu.be/XBFCwWXzYF4
