It's the RED WHITE & BLUE Dance Party this Thursday night at Point Point Joint, July 3, 2014.  One or more prizes for the best Red White & Blue outfits, plus complimentary snacks.  This is your invitation to join the rollicking fun this coming Thursday.  I'll be playing swing, cha cha, cumbia, tango, and many more - and of course - LINE DANCING!  Point Point will offer us dancers their fabulous $10 dinner special which includes a soft drink.  (More details below.).  So come on over - Party time:  from 6pm until 10pm at Point Point Joint, 916 E. 8th Street, National City.

Last Thursday June 26, 2014, I lost count after over 50 dancers showed up, thanks in part to several first-timers.  With so much going on - the photos below tell only part of the story.         (Note: If the following photos do not appear when you look at this email, click the words at the top of this email that say something like "Show images which are still blocked to protect your privacy" - I already know who you are):

THURSDAY NIGHT AT POINT POINT JOINT (JUNE 26, 2014):

It was a birthday celebration for Nita.  I think she finally turned 21.  About 20 - 30 of the dancers were there to congratulate Nita on her birthday.  Above, Dione leads the congratulatory remarks and "Happy Birthday" to Nita.

Many, like Cely above dancing a night club 2-step with DJ Mel, were in bright pretty clothing.

And, Penny, too.  Here she was dancing a boogie with Jake.

I was happy to meet Gloria and Ray.  Here there were dancing a merengue.

Holy smoke!  Mel (not the DJ, but the dancer above in the white shirt) showed up!  I had not seen her in 4 or 5 years - back in the former Jestoni Bistro.  Lucky Mark got to dance a night club 2-step with her.  Where has she been?

Holy cow!  Talk about rare encounters!  Camera-shy Nena (on right above) dropped in for one of her very rare brief appearances. Here she's dancing a merengue with her friend Mary Jane (who is on the left, and who I met for the first time).

We had many line dances, including a full hour (6-7pm) as usual.  Counting the 1st hour, both "Carinito" and "Cowboy Cumbia" were played three times. What else?  "Blurred Line", "Spanish Eyes" & many more.  While the line dancers danced "Bajo La Luna", my eyes were on these three beauties - Lisa, Eva and Agnes

Jun Ancho and Jona dropped by for one of their rare visits to Thursday nights at Point Point Joint, and were dancing a merengue in this photo.

Let's back-up in time to last week, June 19, 2014, for a photo I overlooked last week.  It's the golden girl Susie dancing the cumbia "Desvelado" with DJ Mel.

On Tuesday June 24, 2014, some new line dancers showed up for Nina Anson's Tuesday night line dancing at Point Point Joint.  14 dancers are pictured above.

It's a fun dance party most every Thursday night at Point Point Joint with line dances and ballroom dances like swing including Manila Swing (also known as 4-count hustle or Philippine swing or Filipino swing), cha cha, night club 2-step, tango and much much more.  For this weeks' Dance Party on Thursday (July 3, 2014), Point Point Joint Restaurant, 916 E. 8th Street, National City, as usual offers their special price of $10 for 2-entree dinner plus drink for Thursday Night dancers.

Here's the plan for the next few weeks at Point Point:

Thursday  July 3, 2014    6-10pm, RED WHITE & BLUE NIGHT, DJ Bert D

Thursday  July 10, 2014   6-10pm, DJ Bert D

Line dancers had the floor to themselves for a full hour (6-7pm) as usual.  Here Nene and Edith are in front on "Mamita Mia".  For a second week new line dances "Carinito" and "Bajo La Luna" (both by Sparx) each got played twice.

The venerable Bert Andrade, shown here dancing the bachata "Tornero" with Lu, did a lot of dancing before heading to Gapo.

The night club two-step dances were popular.  Here we see Nene dancing to one with Jake.

And, across the floor, Mona and Florita were dancing to the same song.

About 8:15 line dancers packed the floor for "Bachata Risma (Lamento Boliviano)".  Nickie, Ly and Romy were in front in this photo.

A few minutes later Lolita and Mark wee dancing a cha cha.

The dancing all-stars Florita and Ruben were dancing a cumbia in this picture.

Speaking of all stars, here is Dwayne and Eva, with Dwayne wearing his Las Vegas Chess Championship shirt.

DANCE TIME at Point Point Joint this Thursday June 19, 2014

Hi Dancers and Party People,
We had fun at Filipino Night - and it may be even more fun at the Dance Party this Thursday night at Point Point Joint, June 19, 2014.  This is your invitation to join the joy and merriment this coming Thursday.  The fantastic DJ Mel Zaragoza will be playing swing, cha cha, cumbia, tango, and many more - and of course - LINE DANCING!  Point Point will offer us dancers their fabulous $10 dinner special which includes a soft drink.  (More details below.).  So come on over - Party time:  from 6pm until 10pm at Point Point Joint, 916 E. 8th Street, National City.

Last Thursday June 12, 2014, about 35 joyous dancers had a very fun time at Filipino Night celebrating Philippine Independence Day with DJ Mel's dance music, and enjoying lots of complementary snacks.  Lots of things were going on, and the ten photos below tell part of the story.  We are now planning for a Red White & Blue Night Dance Party for Thursday July 3, 2014.       (Note: If the following photos do not appear when you look at this email, click the words at the top of this email that say something like "Show images which are still blocked to protect your privacy" - I already know who you are):

THURSDAY NIGHT AT POINT POINT JOINT (JUNE 12, 2014):

Nene continues to be one of the busiest dancers at Point Point.  I got to dance with her early in the evening.

Pretty much everyone got up to dance the romantic night club 2-step "Magkasayo Buong Gabi (Together Through the Night)".  The first couple I spotted was Bert Alota dancing with Suzanne.

We welcomed one of the four-years-ago DJs from the now-closed Lucky Star -  DJ Eric DeLeon dropped by Point Point, and he was dancing with Ly.

Lita and Florita were also dancing to "Magkasayo Buong Gabi"

And, next to them were Susie and DJ Mel.

And also, Gino Rilliamas was dancing the night club 2-step with Mona

About eight thirty I saw Eva in a lovely Philippine dress dancing a salsa with Dione.

Eva, DJ Mel and Nina won best costume prizes while Edith made the announcement.

Another visiting VIP, Dante from the South Bay Terraces Seniors Association came and won another best costume award.

There were lots of line dances Thursday night.  The songs by the Sparx were the most popular, with "Carinito" and "Bajo La Luna" each getting played twice.   Combined with Sparx's lovely "Esta Noche", we heard Sparx five times Thursday night.  "Blurred Lines" and "Beguine Per Sognare" were also well-liked line dances.  BUT, looking back two days earlier to Tuesday night (June 10th), Nina's line dancers - 13 of them pictured above - celebrated the fourth anniversary of Tuesday night line dancing at Point Point.  When the Jestoni Club closed in May 2010, Nina's Tuesday night line dancers moved over to Point Point beginning on June 1, 2010.

It's a fun dance party most every Thursday night at Point Point Joint with line dances and ballroom dances like swing including Manila Swing (also known as 4-count hustle or Philippine swing or Filipino swing), cha cha, night club 2-step, tango and much much more.  For this weeks' Dance Party on Thursday (June 19, 2014), Point Point Joint Restaurant, 916 E. 8th Street, National City, as usual offers their special price of $10 for 2-entree dinner plus drink for Thursday Night dancers.

THURSDAY NIGHT AT POINT POINT JOINT (JUNE 5, 2014):

One of the cutest dance moves - Bert Alota dipped Mona during a night club two-step.

A while later, Nene and Jake were looking good on the dance floor again, this time dancing to the rumba "Reloj".

And, Bert Alota was enjoying the "Reloj" rumba with Suzanne.

Next to them was a visiting star dancer of the 32ndStreet Dance Group, Cora, and she was dancing with MarkCora was celebrating her birthday.

Later on, I spotted two other great dancers, Florita and Ruben, dancing to a cumbia.

Lots of line dancing as usual. This is my favorite photo of the line dancers last Thursday - they are dancing to "Caranito", but maybe we should call it "Dancing In All Directions".

Ruben and Rima here.  They were dancing to the cumbia "Amor Ala Mexicana" near closing time.

It was late - some dancers had left - but when the hip hop "Family Affair" got played - Holy Smoke!  The dancers were delighted.  Then I saw many of the night's star dancers, from left to right Nickie, Edith, Nene, Estrelle, Eva, Mona, Rima and Cora.

THURSDAY NIGHT AT POINT POINT JOINT (May 29, 2014):

My favorite song and dance of the whole night was a early in the night.  It was the swing dance, "SATISFY SUSIE" by Lonnie Mack.  Here we see DJ Mel dancing to it - with SUSIE of course.

A while later, I spotted Rudy and Nedy dancing the salsa "Acabo De Llegar".

There was so much fun stuff going on for me that I felt intoxicated.  DJ Dwayne and Eva were so kind - they brought in two ice cream cakes and gifts for Edith's & my 34th anniversary.  Here we are trying to cut the cake to share with everybody.

Nene and Jake looked good dancing the bachata "Stand By Me".

Kelly Medina always gets or deserves the Best Dressed Guy of the Night award.  Here he is dancing the bachata with a very well-dressed Ly.

And, right next to them, DJ Dwayne was dancing with Eva.

Lots of line dancing.  "Jamaican Love", "Blurred Lines", "Carinito", and even "Can't Take My Eyes Off You".  (That's getting publicity now as the theme song of the new movie "Jersey Boys".)  Here they're dancing "Come Back My Love" (aka "Chicken Walk Jive" line dance).  Who's in front?  Well, it's three stars of Nina Anson's line dancers, Nedy, Rei and Zeny.  Nina is scheduled to return from Europe and resume her Tuesday evening line dancing sessions at Point Point this Tuesday June 3, 2014.

Holy cow!  Two of the best dancers, Florita and Ruben, got together for a breathtaking sight doing a cumbia dance.

Lita and Florita kept on dancing while we stretched Lydia's patience by dancing past closing time.
