Dance Party at Eastlake This Thursday January 5, 2017

Happy New Year, Dancers!   

  It'll be another great Dance Party this Thursday night Jan. 5th at Eastlake Shores, 2050 Lakeshore Drive, Chula Vista.  There'll be lots of fun and snacks and beverages.  It's a "private party" and this is your invitation.  Dancers are welcome to bring a dish of food to share.  The wonderful DJ Mel Zaragoza will play for line dancing 6pm-7pm, and mixed ballroom & line dances until 10pm.   

DIRECTIONS:  Take the H Street east to Eastlake Drive.  Go right one block, then right onto Lakeshore Drive. Then, turn left immediately into parking lot of 2050 Lakeshore Drive.  The Eastlake Shores Clubhouse is behind the the gated fence. 

Last Thursday (Dec. 29th) was the NEW YEAR'S DANCE and MASQUERADE PARTY at Eastlake.  DJ Mel played for about 45 joyous dancers, many is masquerade attire, as you can see in the 10 photos below.  (Note: If the following photos do not appear when you look at this email, click the words at the top of this email that say something like "Show images which are still blocked to protect your privacy" - I already know who you are.  If that doesn't work, you can either click on the places where the photos should be, or go to this website to see the whole email.)

ROMY BROUGHT COFFEE.  Well, among several firsts for the night - - - Romy brought a coffee maker and coffee, and in the photo above, he was showing the set-up to Myrna.

GUESS WHO??  Here's a clue about these 3 ladies in masquerade:  All 3 are Cavite girls.

LINE DANCING was non-stop from 6pm until 7pm, and intermittently after that.  Above, DJ Mel is in the front line with Emma dancing "Come Dance With Me".

NEW YEAR'S DINNER LINE-UP.  Dancers lined up for food - and there was a lot of food.  Too much for me to remember all the credits - Nick & Eden brought corned beef, hashed browns, scrambled eggs, champorado, and sausages.  Emelie brought cookies & cake.  Beth brought sliced oranges and boiled corn.  Joe brought THREE PIZZAS!!  Jake brought leche flan. Rei & Belen brought puto pao and sweet ube.  Edith R brought maruya and fried rice.  Aida brought chips.  Nita brought pan de sal.  And, there was more.

DANCE EXHIBITION.  Visiting dance instructors from New York City came to the party, and gave us a fabulous dance exhibition of an East Coast Swing, and in the photo above, a slow dance to "Yesterday".  The young lady was Mae Lozada, who, among other successes, was a dance finalist on "Pilipinas Got Talent" TV show on the Philippines' ABS-CBN network in 2010, as you can see in this YouTube video.  The young man above is Kristian Sese, who has several YouTube videos of his own.  Kristian is the son of Aida, who came to the party with Mae and Kristian and Aida's daughter Yvonne. Mae & Kristian also have this YouTube video of them dancing in New York. 

SAN DIEGO'S FILIPINO ELVIS (aka Romy) also performed for us.  In the photo above, he was singing "Great Balls Of Fire" with back-up dancers Myrna, Neriza, Suzanne and Eva.

BEST ATTIRE PRIZE WINNERS Nita, Suzanne, Eden, Nick and DJ Mel lined up in the photo above, next to judges Edith and Rei.

BEST ATTIRE PRIZE WINNER Susie, in an elegant white dress, is in the photo above.

BEST ATTIRE WINNERS Eva and Dwayne were dancing to "Blue Tango" in the photo above. Dwayne wore a cadet's uniform. 

SHUTTERBUGS!  There were plenty of photographers.  Above, Emma, Nedy, Eva, Edith R, Eden and Suzanne lined up to snap pictures of some guys.

Thursday, January 26, 2017:  CHINESE NEW YEAR DANCE PARTY with prizes for Best Attire, in Eastlake, 6pm-10pm at the Eastlake Shores Beach Clubhouse, 2050 Lakeshore Drive, Chula Vista CA 91913.  DJ Mel Zaragoza.


  It's a fun dance party most every Thursday night with line dances and ballroom dances like swing including Manila Swing (also known as 4-count hustle or Philippine swing or Filipino swing), cha cha, night club 2-step, rumba and much much more.

P.S. Other Notes: (1) These are really fun ballroom and line dance parties.  This is Thursday night dancing in San Diego.  While the dancing and music is non-stop, there are dancers who are happy to give free dance one-on-one lessons during the dances, in case you don't know the steps of a particular dance.  Hmmm - I bet the simultaneous instructions while others are dancing make these, for example, the best Thursday night salsa dancing in Chula Vista.
