DANCE TIME at Point Point Joint this Thursday June 19, 2014

Hi Dancers and Party People,
We had fun at Filipino Night - and it may be even more fun at the Dance Party this Thursday night at Point Point Joint, June 19, 2014.  This is your invitation to join the joy and merriment this coming Thursday.  The fantastic DJ Mel Zaragoza will be playing swing, cha cha, cumbia, tango, and many more - and of course - LINE DANCING!  Point Point will offer us dancers their fabulous $10 dinner special which includes a soft drink.  (More details below.).  So come on over - Party time:  from 6pm until 10pm at Point Point Joint, 916 E. 8th Street, National City.

Last Thursday June 12, 2014, about 35 joyous dancers had a very fun time at Filipino Night celebrating Philippine Independence Day with DJ Mel's dance music, and enjoying lots of complementary snacks.  Lots of things were going on, and the ten photos below tell part of the story.  We are now planning for a Red White & Blue Night Dance Party for Thursday July 3, 2014.       (Note: If the following photos do not appear when you look at this email, click the words at the top of this email that say something like "Show images which are still blocked to protect your privacy" - I already know who you are):

THURSDAY NIGHT AT POINT POINT JOINT (JUNE 12, 2014):

Nene continues to be one of the busiest dancers at Point Point.  I got to dance with her early in the evening.

Pretty much everyone got up to dance the romantic night club 2-step "Magkasayo Buong Gabi (Together Through the Night)".  The first couple I spotted was Bert Alota dancing with Suzanne.

We welcomed one of the four-years-ago DJs from the now-closed Lucky Star -  DJ Eric DeLeon dropped by Point Point, and he was dancing with Ly.

Lita and Florita were also dancing to "Magkasayo Buong Gabi"

And, next to them were Susie and DJ Mel.

And also, Gino Rilliamas was dancing the night club 2-step with Mona

About eight thirty I saw Eva in a lovely Philippine dress dancing a salsa with Dione.

Eva, DJ Mel and Nina won best costume prizes while Edith made the announcement.

Another visiting VIP, Dante from the South Bay Terraces Seniors Association came and won another best costume award.

There were lots of line dances Thursday night.  The songs by the Sparx were the most popular, with "Carinito" and "Bajo La Luna" each getting played twice.   Combined with Sparx's lovely "Esta Noche", we heard Sparx five times Thursday night.  "Blurred Lines" and "Beguine Per Sognare" were also well-liked line dances.  BUT, looking back two days earlier to Tuesday night (June 10th), Nina's line dancers - 13 of them pictured above - celebrated the fourth anniversary of Tuesday night line dancing at Point Point.  When the Jestoni Club closed in May 2010, Nina's Tuesday night line dancers moved over to Point Point beginning on June 1, 2010.

It's a fun dance party most every Thursday night at Point Point Joint with line dances and ballroom dances like swing including Manila Swing (also known as 4-count hustle or Philippine swing or Filipino swing), cha cha, night club 2-step, tango and much much more.  For this weeks' Dance Party on Thursday (June 19, 2014), Point Point Joint Restaurant, 916 E. 8th Street, National City, as usual offers their special price of $10 for 2-entree dinner plus drink for Thursday Night dancers.

Here's the plan for the next few weeks at Point Point:

Thursday  June 19, 2014   6-10pm, DJ Mel Zaragoza, 619-947-9049

Thursday  June 26, 2014   6-10pm, DJ Mel Zaragoza

Thursday  July 3, 2014    6-10pm, RED WHITE & BLUE NIGHT, DJ Bert D

See you on the dance floor,
Bert & Edith

P.S. Other Notes: (1) The Thursday night dance parties are private parties, and this is the invitation to members of the email group to enjoy dancing in Point Point Joint Restaurant, a mere four miles from downtown San Diego.  While the dancing is continuous, there are dancers who are happy to give free dance lessons during the dances, in case you don't know the steps of a particular dance.
