Jade House Opens For Thursday Night Dancing & Karaoke

Hello Dancers,
This was a unique week!  The Jade House Restaurant at 569 H Street, Chula Vista, had a Grand Opening Thursday (Nov 4th), as Vangie Mangune made good on her plans that she mentioned to us a couple weeks ago.  It's a buffet dinner, dancing and karaoke for $10, Thursday night from 6PM-midnight.  About 25 dancers showed up, including mostly a mixture of VIPs from the 32nd Street group, Forever Young, and Nina's Tuesday night line dancers.
Several of the attendees said they will regularly go there on Thursday nights because they can get their favorite music played and they can also sing karaoke.  My partner in this e-mail group, Art Tennessee, said Thursday night at Jade House had all 5 things for a perfect night:  buffet, beautiful women, beer, dancing to music with a beat, and karaoke.  The night was similar to how things went at Jestoni and Manila-Tokyo, except on a smaller scale.  As you can see in the photo album (by the way, the photo file titles substitute for photo captions), Jade House is not as fancy or as big as Lucky Star - the dance floor is somewhat bigger than what we use at Point Point Restaurant
Wes Unger, the main dance instructor for the 32nd Street Dance Group, and his wife Lyn were there.  Beth and her three beautiful kids, celebrating a day before Beth's birthday, were there Thursday night, too.
DJ RT kept the place hopping with a mix of the ballroom and line dance songs that most of us are familiar with.
If you can, add next Thursday night Nov 11th at Jade House to your social agenda.

LINE DANCE TUESDAYS (free!) - Tuesday November 2nd, free line dance night at Point Point, was fun, with 17 of us dancing.  Nina was busy planning a fiesta, as President of a Cavite association, so the rest of us had DJ duty, while Rei kept busy gathering signatures on a photo that will go in the fiesta brochure.  There was extensive practice on both "Simplemente" and "Tennessee Waltz" line dances.  In the photo album, you  can see the dancers doing "Volare".
You can join the fun this coming Tuesday (November 9th) at Point Point Joint, 916 E. 8th Street, National City, 6:30-9:00, when Nina will again lead us through fun line dances.

WEDNESDAY FILIPINO NIGHT at Lucky Star Restaurant on November 3rd, saw attendance down to about 30 again.  Rose was glamorously attired (see photo album) for her birthday party.  Nena and JoJo were there, too.  Luckily, Jun, Dione, Fred, and some other dancing guys were there so the lady dancers were not disappointed like the previous week - there were just fewer ladies this past week.  But, conspicuously absent was DJ Eric!!  Luckily, the manager let me play our dance CDs on their nice sound system, which is similar to the CD player sound system we used at the Jestoni Manila-Tokyo Club.  AND, THERE WAS NO COVER CHARGE!!  On the downside of the night, the manager asked us to close down at 9PM instead of 9:30.  It's possible that the situation will be the same this coming Wednesday, but I guess no one will know for sure till Wednesday night.
What songs did well?  Well, the few slow songs I had, like "I Have A Dream", "Memory", "The Right Thing We Do" waltz, etc, all got played twice.   I got to play "La Ultima Noche" and "Porque Te Quiero" cha cha's that DJ Dwayne used to play with great success at the Jestoni Club.  Of course, "Coco Jamboo" and "Tennessee Waltz" line dances were big.  What surprised me was that almost everybody got up to dance to "Funky Town".
We're looking forward to this coming week's "Filipino Night". It will again be WEDNESDAY NIGHT (November 10th) in the LUCKY STAR RESTAURANT from who knows, maybe 6 to 9pm.

PHOTOS:
First of all, from Lucky Star "Filipino Night" Wednesday Nov 3rd, the folks are enjoying the "Simplemente" line dance.

Then, at Jade House "Grand Opening" of Thursday night dancing, we see Jun swinging Nitz to what seems to be a disco hustle song.

I put those plus 16 other photos from the past week in the Forever Young Group Photos section into the '2010 November' folder.  For those of you who prefer the features of Google's Picasa Web Albums, and you who are non-Yahoo members, the November photos are also posted at
