Thursday Night Dance at Four Points (Nov. 12, 2015)

Hello There Dancers,
Yes, Four Points by Sheraton, 8110 Aero Drive, San Diego, will let us back in to dance this Thursday (Nov 12th) per phonecon with Nick Enriquez.  DJ Bing Villafuerte will play line dances 6 to 7pm and mixed ballroom & line dances until 10pm.  $10.

Last Thursday November 5, 2015, was Dance The Night Away at Mira Mesa Senior Center featuring DJ Nickie Bascos, lots of food & beverages, and about 40 dancers (I met many for the 1st time).  The following fourteen photos (mostly all from Rima's camera) tell part of the story:

LAST THURSDAY NIGHT'S DANCE AT MIRA MESA SENIOR CENTER, 8460 MIRA MESA BLVD., SAN DIEGO  (NOVEMBER 5, 2015):

Line Dances.  There were plenty of line dances, including free line dance lessons and line dancing non-stop from 6pm - 7pm.  Above, it was "Carinito", with Rima in focus in front.

"Carinito" - It's still a huge favorite.  Above, Romy, Rima and others were in the front line.

On the other hand, we guys preferred the ballroom dances.  Above, Ruben danced happily with Aurora to the beautiful night club 2-step, "Tal Vez, Quizas"

Even DJ Nickie Bascos got on the dance floor.  Above, he danced to "Tal Vez, Quizas" with..   Oh, oh. I did not catch her name.

Waltz Line Dance.  I never had a photo of us dancing the waltz line dance before.  Rima took this photo.  Let's see.  Esta and Lou were in the front line.

Ruben and Dolores danced a cha cha, "Corazon Espinado", I think.

Above, Lou and DJ Bing Villafuerte (who was providing some assistance to DJ Nickie) enjoyed dancing to a cumbia.

"Caballero" continues its multi-year run as a line dance favorite.  Above, Nitz and two Ediths were in the front line dancing to "Caballero".

I was fortunate to get to dance a cha cha with Jona, above.

DJ Nickie Bascos, above, played the great dance music.

Ruben was very very busy Thursday night.  He danced almost every dance, including a night club 2-step with Ofelia, above.

Above, Marilyn and Romy danced to the cumbia favorite, "Amor Ala Mexicana".

Borracho Y Loco.  We line danced like crazy over and over again.  Above, the dancers were "borracho y loco" with another line dance favorite, "Bachata Risma".  Edith in front.

Food Frenzy.  Besides all sorts of food provided early in the evening, dancers had plenty of energy at closing time when Romy brought in a big box of fresh persimmons, all gone in 60 seconds.

Thursday Night Dance? Maybe Somewhere.

Hello There Dancers,
Four Points by Sheraton has NOT yet given permission for our continued Thursday night dancing there.  As I compose this, the only sort-of-certain Thursday night dance this week is Mira Mesa Senior Center's new Thursday night dance.  (WANTED: A person who will know Mira Mesa Senior Center's plan for Thursday night dancing, and who will email it to us each week, like Dan Sullivan does for 32nd St Dancers, like Morris does for Cora Anderson Dance Studio, and like I've done in my emails for the places where I go.)

Last Thursday October 29, 2015, was a Halloween Dance Party, our fourth Thursday night ballroom & line dance party at Four Points.  Over 35 people had a joyous time, many in costume, dancing to the music of the wonderful DJ Bing Villafuerte.  The following seventeen (!!!) photos below tell part of the story:

(Note: If the following photos do not appear when you look at this email, click the words at the top of this email that say something like "Show images which are still blocked to protect your privacy" - I already know who you are):

LAST THURSDAY NIGHT'S HALLOWEEN PARTY AT FOUR POINTS, 8110 AERO DRIVE (OCTOBER 29, 2015):

Snacks were in abundance.  Nina, Rei and Belen sampled the beverages, chips and dips early in the evening.

Line Dances were also in abundance.  There were plenty of line dances, including free line dance lessons and line dancing non-stop from 6pm - 7pm.  Above, it was "La Muchachita" with my Edith, Nora and Lou in the front line.

Above, Suzanne seemed to enjoy dancing with … Who was it?  It looked like Phil from Duck Dynasty.

Above, it was first-timer Kelly as Spiderwoman dancing with Ruben.

"Bachata Risma" line dance continues to be a favorite.  Above, Manolo, Patty and Suzanne were in front in this photo.

Costume Contest.  Around 8:30 the costume winners began to line up.  Above, it was left to right Joe, Duck Dynasty, Edith handing out prizes, Jake, Nene, Rima, Dolores, Gloria and Tito.

A little later, most everyone with a costume went up front.

Costumes On Parade.  Above, during the Parade of Costumes, it was Estrelle as Batgirl and Dolores as a Greek Goddess.

Emperor Tito and Empress Gloria were in the Parade of Costumes.  They were followed by Lou and Nene.

The Sheik.  Joe was the Sheik of Araby.

Homeless Meets Elegant Dancer.  It sort of looked like Lou, the Elegant Flamenco Dancer, turned up her nose at the Homeless Waif Rei

Tango Time.  Ly and Joe danced to "Roman Guitar" tango.

Behind them, Marilyn and Romy danced to the same tango.

At the same time, Egyptian Princess Rima and Gino were happy and colorful dancing to "Roman Guitar" tango.

Next to them, it was Elsie and Ping dancing the tango.

Photo Frenzy.  People took hundreds of pictures.  People even took pictures of people taking pictures.

Feather Dance.  The fun and frolic continued until the very end.  Above, Rei treated us to a Feather Dance to the song "Goodnight Sweetheart Goodnight"

Here is a plan for early November - Some of us are looking again for a suitable place for mid-week night-time ballroom & line dancing.  Thursday night at Mira Mesa Senior Center may start this week.  Four Points on Aero Drive may open their doors for us again.  Point Point Joint in National City may welcome mid-week dancers back again.  Ruben may have success in getting the Eastlake I Clubhouse for mid-week dancing.  More details next week.

Above, two VIP dancers, Brian and JoJo, danced to a salsa.

This'll be a fun Halloween dance party.  Most every Thursday night dancing  - It will be a dance at Four Points by Sheraton, 8110 Aero Drive (Kearny Mesa, San Diego) with line dances and ballroom dances like swing including Manila Swing (also known as 4-count hustle or Philippine swing or Filipino swing), cha cha, night club 2-step, tango and much much more.

Here's the plan for the next few weeks at Four Point:

Thursday  October 29, 2015  6-10pm, HALLOWEEN PARTY, DJ Bing Villafuerte

Thursday  November 5, 2015  6-10pm, DJ Bing Villafuerte

Thursday  November 12, 2015  6-10pm, DJ Bing Villafuerte

Thursday  November 19, 2015  6-10pm, DJ Bing Villafuerte

See you on the dance floor,

Bert & Edith

P.S. Other Notes: (1) These are really fun ballroom and line dance parties.  This is Thursday night dancing at Four Points by Sheraton in San Diego, 8110 Aero Drive - they are private parties, and this is your invitation to members of the email group to enjoy dancing.  While the dancing is continuous, there are dancers who are happy to give free dance one-on-one lessons during the dances, in case you don't know the basic steps of a particular dance.  Hmmm - I bet the simultaneous instructions while others are dancing make these, for example, the best free bachata lessons in San Diego.

Hi Dancers!
Let's this Thursday Oct. 22, 2015, from 6pm - 10pm, in the Skies Lounge at Four Points by Sheraton, 8110 Aero Drive, San Diego.  Papa Nick Enriquez again plans to get some munchies for dancers: chips and salsa dips, and gallons of punch.  It'll be a fun dance party, and this is your invitation to join the party!  $10 per person.  Water provided.  You can buy other food & beverages in the hotel's Citrus Restaurant & Bar across the lobby.  Do not bring food or beverages into the Skies Lounge except what you get from the hotel.
The incredible DJ Nickie Bascos, Jr., will be playing swing, cha cha, bachata, night club two step, etc., AND line dances.

THURSDAY NIGHT AT FOUR POINTS, 8110 AERO DRIVE (OCTOBER 15, 2015):

Plenty of line dances, including free line dance lessons and line dancing non-stop from 6pm - 7pm.  Above, the twins Elsie and Nora were in front dancing to "Mamita Mia".

We guys preferred the ballroom dances.  Above, Tito and Beth danced.  I was happy to see Beth as she is more of a South Bay person - and, I admired her earrings.

The lively boogie "Reet Petite" filled the floor.  Above, it was Eva and Dwayne dancing.

And nearby, Elsie and Ping were also dancing to the boogie.

Dolores and Carlos also danced to "Reet Petite".

Above, it was one of the dozens of picture-taking sessions during the party, with two Ediths and Dione in front and DJ Bing in back.  I hear there is a blizzard of photos on dancers' Facebook pages.

Back to dancing, Ly and Ruben danced the gentle swing "You'll Never Find".

And, Bert Alota and Suzanne were as happy as they could be.

Eden and Tito enjoyed a dance, too.

Rima and Carlos had fun dancing to a cha cha.

This'll be a fun dance party - most every Thursday night dancing at Four Points by Sheraton, 8110 Aero Drive (Kearny Mesa, San Diego) with line dances and ballroom dances like swing including Manila Swing (also known as 4-count hustle or Philippine swing or Filipino swing), cha cha, night club 2-step, tango and much much more.
