Hello There Dancers,
Four Points by Sheraton has NOT yet given permission for our continued Thursday night dancing there. As I compose this, the only sort-of-certain Thursday night dance this week is Mira Mesa Senior Center's new Thursday night dance. (WANTED: A person who will know Mira Mesa Senior Center's plan for Thursday night dancing, and who will email it to us each week, like Dan Sullivan does for 32nd St Dancers, like Morris does for Cora Anderson Dance Studio, and like I've done in my emails for the places where I go.)
Last Thursday October 29, 2015, was a Halloween Dance Party, our fourth Thursday night ballroom & line dance party at Four Points. Over 35 people had a joyous time, many in costume, dancing to the music of the wonderful DJ Bing Villafuerte. The following seventeen (!!!) photos below tell part of the story:
(Note: If the following photos do not appear when you look at this email, click the words at the top of this email that say something like "Show images which are still blocked to protect your privacy" - I already know who you are):
LAST THURSDAY NIGHT'S HALLOWEEN PARTY AT FOUR POINTS, 8110 AERO DRIVE (OCTOBER 29, 2015):
Snacks were in abundance. Nina, Rei and Belen sampled the beverages, chips and dips early in the evening.
Line Dances were also in abundance. There were plenty of line dances, including free line dance lessons and line dancing non-stop from 6pm - 7pm. Above, it was "La Muchachita" with my Edith, Nora and Lou in the front line.
Above, Suzanne seemed to enjoy dancing with … Who was it? It looked like Phil from Duck Dynasty.
Above, it was first-timer Kelly as Spiderwoman dancing with Ruben.
"Bachata Risma" line dance continues to be a favorite. Above, Manolo, Patty and Suzanne were in front in this photo.
Costume Contest. Around 8:30 the costume winners began to line up. Above, it was left to right Joe, Duck Dynasty, Edith handing out prizes, Jake, Nene, Rima, Dolores, Gloria and Tito.
A little later, most everyone with a costume went up front.
Costumes On Parade. Above, during the Parade of Costumes, it was Estrelle as Batgirl and Dolores as a Greek Goddess.
Emperor Tito and Empress Gloria were in the Parade of Costumes. They were followed by Lou and Nene.
The Sheik. Joe was the Sheik of Araby.
Homeless Meets Elegant Dancer. It sort of looked like Lou, the Elegant Flamenco Dancer, turned up her nose at the Homeless Waif Rei.
Tango Time. Ly and Joe danced to "Roman Guitar" tango.
Behind them, Marilyn and Romy danced to the same tango.
At the same time, Egyptian Princess Rima and Gino were happy and colorful dancing to "Roman Guitar" tango.
Next to them, it was Elsie and Ping dancing the tango.
Photo Frenzy. People took hundreds of pictures. People even took pictures of people taking pictures.
Feather Dance. The fun and frolic continued until the very end. Above, Rei treated us to a Feather Dance to the song "Goodnight Sweetheart Goodnight".
Here is a plan for early November - Some of us are looking again for a suitable place for mid-week night-time ballroom & line dancing. Thursday night at Mira Mesa Senior Center may start this week. Four Points on Aero Drive may open their doors for us again. Point Point Joint in National City may welcome mid-week dancers back again. Ruben may have success in getting the Eastlake I Clubhouse for mid-week dancing. More details next week.
Hoping to see you on a dance floor,
Bert & Edith
