OLD TOWN Dance This Thursday September 1, 2016

Hi Again Happy Dancers!  
  It's a dance party back in Old Town this Thursday night, September 1, 2016, in the Old Town Community Church, 2444 Congress Street, San Diego.  There'll be snacks and beverages.  A $5 donation will be requested.  It's a "private party" and this is your invitation.  Dancers are welcome to bring a dish of food to share.  The wonderful DJ Bing Villafuerte will play line dances 6pm-7pm, followed by mixed ballroom and line dancing until 10pm.  
DIRECTIONS:  Take I-5 to Old Town Avenue.  Go about 2 blocks towards Old Town to San Diego Avenue and turn left.  Go a block and make a slight left at a Y-intersection onto Congress Street. The church (2444 Congress St) is on the right, 2 blocks ahead.

THURSDAY AUGUST 25, 2016, SHORTS NIGHT at Eastlake Shores Beach Clubhouse:

THE FOOD LINE.  Once again the food was great.  DJ Mel brought paella.  Nick & Eden brought chicken macaroni salad.  Nedy brought chicken noodle soup, and there was a lot more.  I think you know the names of all the lovely ladies in the food line. 

LINE DANCING was non stop from 6 until 7pm.  Above, Maria, Edith, Nedy and Elma were in the front line dancing to a favorite - "Carinito".  

THE PRIZE WINNERS.  While DJ Mel played "Short Shorts", winners (above holding their Shorts Night Attire Contest prizes) Eden, Eva and Myrna came to the front.  Edith and Nina awarded the prizes. 

BALLROOM Dancing.  Yes, we guys preferred ballroom dancing.  Above, Gino and Esther danced to what I think was a cha cha.

DAISY AND LITO were also dancing nicely.

  It's a 4-hour dance party again this Thursday night, August 25, 2016, in the Eastlake Shores Clubhouse, 2050 Lakeshore Drive, Chula Vista.  SHORTS are what to wear for prizes.  There'll be snacks and beverages.  A $5 donation will be requested.  It's a "private party" and this is your invitation.  Dancers are welcome to bring a dish of food to share.  The marvelous DJ Mel Zaragoza will play line dances 6pm-7pm, followed by mixed ballroom and line dancing until 10pm, and he already has "SHORT SHORTS" on the playlist.  DIRECTIONS:  Take the H Street east to Eastlake Drive.  Go right one block, then right onto Lakeshore Drive. Then, turn left immediately into parking lot - the Clubhouse is behind the the gated fence.

THE FOOD LINE.  Wow!  The above hungry ladies looked great.  Myrna was one of the demonstration models for next week's SHORTS NIGHT.  Nick & Eden brought goto.  Lydia brought banana bread.  Nedy brought dessert. Beth brought fruit, and there was a lot more.

LINE DANCING was non stop from 6 until 7pm.  Above, Edith, Daisy and Nedy were in the front line dancing to a favorite - "Bachata Risma".  A couple lines back you can see Eva who was also wearing shorts - red shorts.

MARK DANCED with Myrna to a bachata.

BACHATA DANCING to "Loco" above, it was Neriza and DJ Mel.

BALLROOM is Bernie's favorite.  Above, he and Lydia were also dancing to the bachata "Loco".

ELVIS?   No, it was San Diego's Filipino Elvis, Romy Maraya, dancing to "Loco" with Liza.

THURSDAY AUGUST 11, 2016, BEACH PARTY DANCE at Eastlake 1 Clubhouse:

LINE DANCING was non stop from 6 until 7pm.  Above, Edith, Rei, Nora and Eden were in the front lines dancing to "Bachata Risma".

FOOD was great.  Above, several lovely ladies were in line for food.  You probably know most of their names, except maybe for the newcomers to Nedy's left:  Emma, Elvia, Mercedes, Bobet, and Patty.  Nick & Eden brought champorado.  DJ Mel and Susie brought chicken.  Rei brought Suman.  Belen brought Filipino dessert, and there was a lot more.

LOVELY LADIES BY THE LAKE (plus Ronnie):  Bobet, Neriza, Nedy, Edith, Eva and Tassja.

SWING DANCING to "Beach Baby" above, it was Eva and Dwayne.

WINNERS of the Beach Party best attire contest were Eva & Dwayne, Bert Alota & Suzanne, and Edith R.  Next to them were MC's Edith D and Nina, and more winners DJ Mel & Susie and Nita.

BEACH GIRL.  I got to dance Manila Swing to "Uptown Funk" with a real beach girl, Edith's granddaughter Tassja.

There'll be prizes for best attire, even though judges offered no clue as to what to wear other than I'd be disqualified if I wear a Speedo and Edith will be disqualified if she wears a bikini.  There'll be snacks and beverages.  A $5 donation will be requested.  It's a "private party" and this is your invitation.  Dancers are welcome to bring a dish of food to share.  The phenomenal DJ Mel Zaragoza will play line dances 6pm-7pm, followed by mixed ballroom and line dancing until 10pm.  DIRECTIONS:  Take the H Street east to Eastlake Drive.  Go right one block, then right onto Lakeshore Drive. Then, turn left immediately into parking lot - the Clubhouse is behind the the gated fence.

LINE DANCING was non-stop from six until seven, then periodically until ten.  Above, dancing to "Under The Boardwalk", Nora, Edith and Rei were in the front line.  You can see that the master line dancer Royce was behind them.

FOOD was abundant.  Above, waiting for food, it was a line of lovely ladies. You probably know their names, except maybe for first-timer Licenia, wearing black near the end of the line.  Nick & Eden brought deviled eggs and chicken soup.  Beth brought corn.  Liza, Maria and Nedy brought chicken.  Ginnie brought rice.  Royce & Maria and Bernie & Lydia brought brownies, and there was a lot more.

TANGO TIME.  Bernie and Lydia danced to "Blue Tango".

THURSDAY JULY 21, 2016, ARABIAN NIGHTS at Eastlake I Clubhouse:

#1 BELLY DANCER:  Joe took my advice to come as a belly dancer, and he was the best-looking one (well, actually - the only one). 

FOOD.   Above, Myrna, Josie, Susie, Lydia and Nedy were in the front line for food.  (Oops! I forgot to take notes on who brought what.)  So, I only remember that Nick & Eden brought patola in miso soup, Beth brought sandwiches, and there was a lot of watermelon.  

HAVING FUN.  Maria & Lisa were 1st-timers to Eastlake Thursdays.  Above, they danced outside the clubhouse.

LOVELY LADIES BY THE LAKE.  As usual, there were numerous photo sessions by the lake.  Above was one featuring first-timer Adelle (a costume prize winner), Nora, Nedy and Eden (who was another prize winner).

BALLROOM.  Besides lots of line dances, there were plenty of ballroom dances.  Above, Ping danced with Elsie.  Elsie later won a prize for her attire.

TANGO.  Grand prize winners, Princess Eden and Sheik Nick, danced to "Tango Erotica". 

CHA CHA.  Above, Neriza enjoyed dancing a cha cha with first-timer Nate.

WELCOME BACK to Bert Alota and Suzanne.  Bert Alota was still recovering from back surgery, but he still ventured out onto the dance floor.

Other Notes: (1) These are really fun ballroom and line dance parties.  This is Thursday night dancing in San Diego.  While the dancing is continuous, there are dancers who are happy to give free dance one-on-one lessons during the dances, in case you don't know the steps of a particular dance.  Hmmm - I bet the simultaneous instructions while others are dancing make these, for example, the best Thursday night dance in San Diego.
