50 Packed into Point Point Thursday May 19th

Hello Dancers,
Point Point Joint was full, with 50 dancers living it up this past Thursday May 19th.  More details below.  I was out of town for a couple weeks, and many thanks for the kind words about my late dad.  Not many good pictures from early May - if you have some good ones, feel free to send them to me.

TUESDAY NIGHT LINE DANCING - At the Point Point Joint line dancing this past Tuesday (May 17th), there were only nine line dancers.  Well, we had fun anyway, dancing line dances like "Under The Sun", "If You Wanna Be Happy", "Locomotion" and a new one, "Just The Way You Are" (the new song by Bruno Mars) which was introduced by Nina and Angie on May 10th.
THIS COMING TUESDAY (May 24th) you can join the fun at Point Point, 916 E. 8th Street, National City, 6:30-9:00, when Nina will lead us through fun line dances.  $5.

WEDNESDAY FILIPINO NIGHTS at Lucky Star Restaurant on May 4th, 11th, and 18th also had lower attendance with about a dozen dancers each night.  DJ Joey played May 4th & 11th, and then Lucky Star management changed the entertainment on May 18th to a live band - KOLORZ.
"Filipino Night" once again will be this coming Wednesday May 25th at the LUCKY STAR RESTAURANT, 54th Street & University Avenue, San Diego. 6:30-9:30PM.  $6 or $7 plus one drink minimum.  KOLORZ rock band will be on stage again, with recorded music during breaks.

THURSDAY NIGHT (May 19th) DANCING AT POINT POINT brought in about 50 dancers, after two weeks of about 25 in attendance. 50 was just about the most dancers there since Thursday dancing started at Point Point in January.  DJ Leo kept everyone dancing with great swing, cha cha, line dances and more.  A lot of dancers still enjoyed "Rumba Samba Mambo" (see photo).  Line dancers enjoyed learning "Action Line Dance" from Nitz.  My Edith had a birthday party break.  Speaking of birthdays, Divine had a nice birthday celebration at the Thursday May 5th dance.
This coming Thursday May 26th we hope to dance again at Point Point, 916 E. 8th Street, National City.   Party dancing:  6:30-10 PM.  The only admission cost is $10 which gets you a 2-entree buffet dinner, 2 soft drinks, and all the dancing you can handle.

SATURDAY NIGHT DANCING AT FOUR POINTS HOTEL at 8110 Aero Drive on Kearny Mesa/Serra Mesa is in its 2nd month in the hotel's Citrus Restaurant.  Those in attendance love it, and the report I got from the May 21st dance was that there were over 30 in attendance.  I was able to get to the dance May 14th, and I had a great time.  Carmi, the dance organizer, was socializing with us (see photo).
This coming Saturday May 28th, it'll be dance party time again at Four Points, 8100 Aero Drive, 8pm-midnight.  $8

PHOTOS:
First of all, from Point Point Joint on Thursday May 12th, we see Phil and Mona dancing.

Then, at Point Point on Thursday May 19th we see the "Rumba Samba Mambo" dancers.

I put those two plus 11 other photos from the past week in the Forever Young Group Photos section into the '2011 May' folder.  For those of you who prefer the features of Google's Picasa Web Albums, and you who are non-Yahoo members, the April photos are also posted at

45 Enjoy Dancing at Point Point Thursday Apr 27th

Hello Dancers,
Point Point Joint was pretty full with 45 dancers having fun this past Thursday April 27th.  More details below.

TUESDAY NIGHT LINE DANCING - At the Point Point Joint line dancing this past Tuesday (April 26th), there were over a dozen line dancers.  Nedy and Gloria added nice color to the night (see photo).  Dancers had fun dancing line dances, once again like "Simplemente", "Come Dance With Me", "Coco Jamboo", "Under The Sun", and "If You Wanna Be Happy".
THIS COMING TUESDAY (May 3rd) you can join the fun at Point Point, 916 E. 8th Street, National City, 6:30-9:00, when Nina will lead us through fun line dances.  $5.

WEDNESDAY FILIPINO NIGHT at Lucky Star Restaurant on April 27th had barely 20 dancers - we at least got to know each other better (see photo).  With DJ Eric out of town, DJ Joey was handicapped by losing his laptop.  Luckily, Carmi brought in hers.  As the night went on, we alternated music off the laptop and CDs using Lucky Star's system.  Thanks to the dancing fervor of Jerry, Jun and Rose, everyone kept on dancing.  I saw dancers really having fun to Elvis Crespo's rollicking merengue, "Princesita".  DJ Joey surprisingly played one of my favorites, "Johnny B. Goode", a great boogie dance.
"Filipino Night" once again will be this coming Wednesday May 4th at the LUCKY STAR RESTAURANT, 54th Street & University Avenue, San Diego. 6:30-9:30PM.  $6 plus one drink minimum.  DJ Joey will be on stage again, and DJ Eric returns to Lucky Star on May 18th.

THURSDAY NIGHT (Apr 28th) DANCING AT POINT POINT brought in about 45 dancers!  Wow!  The place was packed.  DJ Leo did an excellent job of music selection, I thought, with so many great songs that people had fun dancing to:  "Self Control", "Dance With Me", "If You Wanna Be Happy", "Coco Jamboo", "Esta Noche", "Tennessee Waltz", "First, Last, Everything", and "Linda Eh" a fabulous merengue by Elvis Crespo.  The floor was full for almost every song, and I saw Bert Alota dancing a lot, Rosie and Jun posed nicely for me (see photo) as did Mona (see photo).
This coming Thursday May 5th we hope to dance again at Point Point, 916 E. 8th Street, National City.   Party dancing:  6:30-10 PM.  The only admission cost is $10 which gets you a 2-entree buffet dinner, 2 soft drinks, and all the dancing you can handle.

SATURDAY NIGHT DANCING AT FOUR POINTS HOTEL at 8110 Aero Drive on Kearny Mesa/Serra Mesa was in its 3rd week on Saturday April 30th in the hotel's Citrus Restaurant, with about 25 in attendance.  DJ Joey found his laptop that was missing at Lucky Star.  The music selection was LOUD and a lot of Latin, my favorite being "Princesita".  Swing songs included the Bee Gees "Night Fever" four times!  Carmi & Max (see photo) were the dance organizers. The lovely ladies at my table (see photo) included Vivian, Rose and Edith who had all been to Lucky Star on Wednesday, PLUS Cora joined us as did Liz who'd been out of town for a month or so.  Cora and Rose did a great dance to "Hot Stuff" (see photo).
This coming Saturday May 7th, it'll be dance party time again at Four Points, 8100 Aero Drive, 8pm-midnight.  $8

PHOTOS:
First of all, from Wednesday April 27th's Filipino Night at Lucky Star,  we see Penny and Rose doing a nice dance to "Lady In Red".

Then, at Four Point's Saturday Night Dance April 30th, in between dances we see Vivian, Rose, Edith, Cora and Liz at my table!  A very nice sight!

I put those two plus 18 other photos from the past week in the Forever Young Group Photos section into the '2011 April' folder.  For those of you who prefer the features of Google's Picasa Web Albums, and you who are non-Yahoo members, the April photos are also posted at

Hello Dancers,
Saturday night dancing with Fil-Am DJs and mostly Fil-Am dancers began last week at Four Points by Sheraton on Aero Drive.  More details below.

TUESDAY NIGHT LINE DANCING - At the Point Point Joint line dancing this past Tuesday (April 19th), there were about a dozen line dancers - they just were not all there at the same time.  Dancers had fun dancing line dances, once again like "Locomotion", "Come Dance With Me", "Baby Likes to Rock It (Choo Choo Train)", "Under The Sun", and "If You Wanna Be Happy".
THIS COMING TUESDAY (April 26th) you can join the fun at Point Point, 916 E. 8th Street, National City, 6:30-9:00, when Nina will lead us through fun line dances.  $5.

WEDNESDAY FILIPINO NIGHT at Lucky Star Restaurant on April 20th had about 25 dancers, plus about 10 diners.  The music selection was mostly ballroom and Latin dances, but some line dances were sprinkled into the mix.  Among the favorites of the night were "Ave Maria Lola" cumbia and "I Love The Nightlife" and "You Should Be Dancing" swing dances.
"Filipino Night" once again will be this coming Wednesday April 27th at the LUCKY STAR RESTAURANT, 54th Street & University Avenue, San Diego. 6:30-9:30PM.  $6 plus one drink minimum.  DJ Eric is going on a trip to the Philippines and returns to Lucky Star on May 18th.  His substitute will be DJ Joey, who was sharing DJ duties with Eric for the past week or two.  DJ Joey is has been in the US a few years, and he used to run a karaoke bar in Takloban City, Leyte.

THURSDAY NIGHT (Apr 21st) had NO DANCING AT POINT POINT, in respect of Holy Thursday.
This coming Thursday April 28th we hope to dance again at Point Point, 916 E. 8th Street, National City.   Party dancing:  6:30-10 PM.  The only admission cost is $10 which gets you a 2-entree buffet dinner, 2 soft drinks, and all the dancing you can handle.

SATURDAY NIGHT DANCE AT FOUR POINTS by Sheraton at 8110 Aero Drive on Kearny Mesa/Serra Mesa began April 16th in the hotel's Citrus Restaurant.  This past Saturday (April 23rd), DJs Eric and Joey played a good selection of ballroom, Latin and line dances.  I noticed some of my favorites got a lot of dancers onto the floor.  Early in the night, head waitress Patricia enjoyed dancing "Patricia" with Eric (see photo).  Many enjoyed dancing to "First, Last, Everything". About 30 dancers from all over town were looking good and having fun.
This coming Saturday April 30th, it'll be dance party time again at Four Points, 8100 Aero Drive, 8pm-midnight.  $8

PHOTOS:
First of all, from Wednesday April 20th's Filipino Night at Lucky Star,  we see an overview of the dance floor while folks were dancing to "Cumbia Semana".

Then, at Four Point's Saturday Night Dance April 23rd, we see Vivian and Carmi sitting, but eager to dance.

No Dancing At Point Point on Holy Thursday; T2 Opened

Hello Dancers,
In respect for Holy Thursday April 21st, no dancing at Point Point.  Dance again April 28th.  T2 Tita's II Restaurant opened early last week.  More details below.

TUESDAY NIGHT LINE DANCING - At the Point Point Joint line dancing this past Tuesday (April 12th) about a dozen line dancers had fun and a good time dancing line dances that are new to the group, like "Locomotion", "Come Dance With Me", "Baby Likes to Rock It (Choo Choo Train)", "Under The Sun", "If You Wanna Be Happy", and both versions of "Asi Asi".  We welcomed first-timers Hiroko and Kuniko, and Eva returned after many months.
THIS COMING TUESDAY (April 19th) you can join the fun at Point Point, 916 E. 8th Street, National City, 6:30-9:00, when Nina will lead us through fun line dances.  $5.

WEDNESDAY FILIPINO NIGHT at Lucky Star Restaurant on April 13th had about 40 energetic dancers, the most since late October, plus about 30 diners.  Carlos escorted a nice group of ladies from Poway's Dance Station who were there to celebrate Evelyn's birthday.  Filipino Night was back in the main ballroom this past week.  While many dances got at least 20 dancers on the floor, I noticed that "In The Mood Swing Medley", "I Need To Know" cha cha, and "Patricia" cha cha each had about 24 dancers.  Among line dances, "The Right Thing That We Do" waltz, if we call it a line dance, had the most at 20.
"Filipino Night" once again will be this coming Wednesday April 20th with DJ Eric at the LUCKY STAR RESTAURANT, 54th Street & University Avenue, San Diego. 6:30-9:30PM.  $6 plus one drink minimum.

THURSDAY NIGHT (Apr 7) DANCING AT POINT POINT - the place was packed with just over 50 dancers rollicking to ballroom and line dances played again by DJ Leo.  It was Black & White Attire Night.  The dance floor was pretty crowded all night.  Nearly 40 dancers loved the Filipino 2-step, "Nasasabik Ako Saiyo".  And "The Right Thing That We Do" waltz line dance was played twice getting over 30 both times.  Once again line dancers loved "Locomotion".
This coming Thursday April 21st is Holy Thursday so the decision was made to have NO DANCING that night, and to resume on Thursday April 28th when we hope to dance again at Point Point, 916 E. 8th Street, National City.   Party dancing:  6:30-10 PM.  The only admission cost is $10 which gets you a 2-entree buffet dinner, 2 soft drinks, and all the dancing you can handle.

T2 (Tita's II) Restaurant Opened.  After nearly a year of renovations, it opened! "T2" is the new name judging from the sign.  As the Jestoni Manila Bistro, where Thursday night dancing had become a tradition of sorts, it closed at the end of May 2010.  The entrance now has attractive landscaping (see photo), and Cindy (see photo) was at the reception counter when I walked in.  At this time it is an upscale restaurant featuring karaoke with no dancing (see photo).

PHOTOS:
First of all, from Tuesday April 12th's Line Dance Night at Point Point,  we see Rei in front of the ladies dancing "Baby Likes To Rock It (Boogie Woogie Choo Choo Train)".

Then, at Point Point's Black & White Attire Night Thursday April 14th, we see Rosie, a master of good poses, dancing a tango with Jack.

I put those two plus 16 other photos from the past week in the Forever Young Group Photos section into the '2011 April' folder.  For those of you who prefer the features of Google's Picasa Web Albums, and you who are non-Yahoo members, the April photos are also posted at
