MARDI GRAS DANCE PARTY at Eastlake Thursday February 24, 2022

Hello Dancers, 

   You are invited to a MARDI GRAS DANCE PARTY this Thursday February 24, 2022, at Eastlake Shores, 2050 Lakeshore Drive, Chula Vista. There'll be lots of dancing, fun, food, beverages, and prizes for best Mardi Gras attire. It's a "private party" and this is your invitation.  Dancers are welcome to bring a dish of food to share. The marvelous DJ Mel Zaragoza will play for line dancing 6pm-7pm, and mixed ballroom & line dances until 10pm.

  MASKS required?  Well, the homeowners association still had a "masks requested" sign on the door.  In order to have a healthy dance, please do not come in if you have a fever, cough, or other cold or flu symptoms.  Anyone can wear a mask who chooses. Everyone should bring a mask, just in case the requirements change at the last minute.

DIRECTIONS: Take H Street east to Eastlake Drive.  Go right one block, then turn right onto Lakeshore Drive. Then, turn left immediately into the parking lot of 2050 Lakeshore Drive.  The Eastlake Shores Clubhouse is behind the gated fence.

LINE DANCING and lessons were non-stop from 6pm - 7pm.  In the photo above, Lolit and Nedy were in the front line dancing a current favorite "Cold Heart" ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1De2dpLmRas ).

 

 

 

 BEFORE EATING, the dancers posed for the photo above, and then Nedy gave a blessing for the food and a prayer for quick recovery of Nick.

THE CAKE.  Myra baked another fabulous birthday cake for us.  This layered cake featured layers of bananas and cream, and lots of little red Valentine hearts.  Yummy.

A DANCE PARTY AT EASTLAKE was last Thursday, February 3rd, with DJ Mel Zaragoza, and 16 dancers, the lowest attendance since May 2018, and a mere 7 weeks after an all-time high attendance. Here are a few photos:

A CHINESE NEW YEAR DANCE PARTY AT EASTLAKE was last Thursday, January 27th, with DJ Bing Villafuerte, and about 35 dancers. Here are a few photos:

Jake Guarin Services - January 29, 2022

Jake Guarin passed away suddenly on December 31st, surprising us at the Eastlake Thursday dances, as well as some of his family, I heard.  Jake was a very friendly, helpful and jovial dancer.  I remember that he had started coming to Thursday night dances when there was Thursday night dancing at the former Point Point Joint. He was remembered again at last night's dance at Eastlake.

 

 

 CELEBRATION OF HIS LIFE
Per the notice above, there was a viewing this afternoon and evening, Friday January 28th at the El Camino Memorial.  And, a mass at St. Michael's Catholic Church tomorrow, Saturday January 29th, followed by a reception.

 

 

 JAKE AT EASTLAKE.  I think Jake's last time at an Eastlake dance was June 27, 2019, when the photo above was taken by Nedy, from Nedy's Facebook ( https://www.facebook.com/nedy.lao ). Jake also went to many of the other Filipino-American dances in the San Diego area.

  MASKS to prevent COVID spread?  Well, the homeowners association has requested mask-wearing to meet COVID coronavirus requirements. In order to have a healthy dance, please do not come in if you have a fever, cough, or other cold or flu symptoms.  Anyone can wear a mask who chooses. Everyone should bring a mask, just in case the requirements change at the last minute.

DIRECTIONS: Take H Street east to Eastlake Drive.  Go right one block, then turn right onto Lakeshore Drive. Then, turn left immediately into the parking lot of 2050 Lakeshore Drive.  The Eastlake Shores Clubhouse is behind the gated fence.

A JANUARY BIRTHDAYS DANCE PARTY AT EASTLAKE was last Thursday, January 13th, with DJ Nickie Bascos, and 40 dancers. Here are a few photos: 

 

LINE DANCING.  Line dancing was non-stop from 6pm - 7pm.  In the photo above, Eden and Nedy were in front, more or less, dancing to a well known one, I think "Carinito" ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IwIkS7sMEeg ). Ballroom dancing continued off & on until 10pm.
