Jake Guarin Services - January 29, 2022

Jake Guarin passed away suddenly on December 31st, surprising us at the Eastlake Thursday dances, as well as some of his family, I heard.  Jake was a very friendly, helpful and jovial dancer.  I remember that he had started coming to Thursday night dances when there was Thursday night dancing at the former Point Point Joint. He was remembered again at last night's dance at Eastlake.

 

 

 CELEBRATION OF HIS LIFE
Per the notice above, there was a viewing this afternoon and evening, Friday January 28th at the El Camino Memorial.  And, a mass at St. Michael's Catholic Church tomorrow, Saturday January 29th, followed by a reception.

 

 

 JAKE AT EASTLAKE.  I think Jake's last time at an Eastlake dance was June 27, 2019, when the photo above was taken by Nedy, from Nedy's Facebook ( https://www.facebook.com/nedy.lao ). Jake also went to many of the other Filipino-American dances in the San Diego area.

CHINESE NEW YEAR DANCE PARTY at Eastlake Thursday January 27, 2022

Hello Dancers, 

   You are invited to a CHINESE NEW YEAR DANCE PARTY this Thursday January 27, 2022, at Eastlake Shores, 2050 Lakeshore Drive, Chula Vista. There'll be lots of dancing, fun, food, and beverages. It's a "private party" and this is your invitation.  Dancers are welcome to bring a dish of food to share. The incredible DJ Bing Villafuerte will play for line dancing 6pm-7pm, and mixed ballroom & line dances until 10pm.

  MASKS to prevent COVID spread?  Well, the homeowners association has requested mask-wearing to meet COVID coronavirus requirements. In order to have a healthy dance, please do not come in if you have a fever, cough, or other cold or flu symptoms.  Anyone can wear a mask who chooses. Everyone should bring a mask, just in case the requirements change at the last minute.

DIRECTIONS: Take H Street east to Eastlake Drive.  Go right one block, then turn right onto Lakeshore Drive. Then, turn left immediately into the parking lot of 2050 Lakeshore Drive.  The Eastlake Shores Clubhouse is behind the gated fence.

A DANCE PARTY AT EASTLAKE was last Thursday, January 20th, with DJ Bing Villafuerte, and just over 25 dancers. Here are a few photos:

CHRISTMAS DANCE PARTY at Eastlake Thursday December 23, 2021

  Hello Dancers,  

   You are invited to a CHRISTMAS DANCE PARTY this Thursday December 23, 2021, at Eastlake Shores, 2050 Lakeshore Drive, Chula Vista. There'll be lots of dancing, fun, food, and beverages. It's a "private party" and this is your invitation.  Dancers are welcome to bring a dish of food to share. Showers are likely. The incredible DJ Bing Villafuerte will play for line dancing 6pm-7pm, and mixed ballroom & line dances until 10pm.

  MASKS to prevent COVID spread?  Well, the homeowners association has requested mask-wearing to meet COVID coronavirus requirements. In order to have a healthy dance, please do not come in if you have a fever, cough, or other cold or flu symptoms.  Anyone can wear a mask who chooses. Everyone should bring a mask, just in case the requirements change at the last minute.

DIRECTIONS: Take H Street east to Eastlake Drive.  Go right one block, then turn right onto Lakeshore Drive. Then, turn left immediately into the parking lot of 2050 Lakeshore Drive.  The Eastlake Shores Clubhouse is behind the gated fence.

A DANCE PARTY AT EASTLAKE was last Thursday, December 16th, with DJ Nickie Villafuerte. Here are a few photos:

 

 

 LINE DANCING.  Line dancing was non-stop from 6pm - 7pm.  In the photo above, Beth, Eden and Belen are in the front line, more or less, dancing the line dance "Que Maravilla" ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1De2dpLmRas ). Ballroom dancing continued off & on until 10pm.

BALLROOM DANCING.  We guys preferred ballroom dancing.  In the photo above Mona and Julius were dancing to the nightclub 2-step "Careless Whisper" ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izGwDsrQ1eQ ). 

 

 

 

SERENADE. In the photo above, Dwayne was serenading Eva as part of her retirement celebration, while some of Eva's guests were taking selfies.

 

 

 

RECORD SETTERS.  If we count Eva's two dancing granddaughters in the photo above (another photo from Nedy's Facebook https://www.facebook.com/nedy.lao ), they at least tie the record for all-time youngest dancers at Eastlake.  AND, along with Eva's 35 guests, they bring the total attendance to a record-setting 70 people.

 BIRTHDAY CAKE, well there actually were 2 cakes. The cake in the photo above was baked and decorated by Myra (Veronica).  Besides tasting fabulous, it was a layered cake, with chocolate mousse filling between the layers, and it featured Christmas-themed frosting and decorations.

 

 

BIRTHDAY CELEBRANTS in December, Estrelle, Edwin and Carmen joined in singing "Happy Birthday" before blowing out their candles.
