Hi Folks,
We'll have another fabulous fun Dance Party this Thursday (March 20th) at Point Point Joint Restaurant, and you are invited. DJ Mel Zaragoza will be playing swing, cha cha, cumbia, tango, and many more - and of course - LINE DANCING! Point Point will offer us dancers their yummy $10 dinner special which includes a soft drink. (More details below.)
Last Thursday (March 13th) was the big St. Patrick's Dance Party with nearly 40 dancers many in green having a wonderful time dancing to the music of DJ Mel Zaragoza.
Lots of Good Photos from the March 13th St. Patrick's Dance Party: (Note: If the following photos do not appear when you look at this email, click the words at the top of this email that say something like "Show images which are still blocked to protect your privacy" - I already know who you are):
First of all, I can't overlook Tuesday March 11th. Wow! I counted 17 dancers, including first-timers Jessica and Edna - as many or more than ever for a Tuesday. Eva made one of her rare appearances. Here we see many of them dancing "Asi Asi". Tuesday night line dancing is on Point Point Joint's upper level.
Seventeen Tuesday night line dancers posed. Can you spot Nedy's twin sister Geni?
OK. Now on to the Thursday night St. Patrick's Dance Party. Lots of line dancing - here they're doing the still-very-popular "Caballero". Thursday night dance parties are on Point Point's main lower level.
Here we see Lou and Nickie having fun dancing a cumbia.
Nedy and the venerable Bert Andrade were also dancing the cumbia.
And, across the floor, Liz and Boyet were also dancing the same cumbia.
A few minutes later it was a night club 2-step. Romy and Marilyn were dancing it.
Across the dance floor, I saw two glamorous dancers, Lolita and Jake.
The next song was the popular line dance "Almost Jamaica", but when Romy brought in a big box of avocados the women forgot the dance and scrambled for the avocados. Nina (on the microphone) pleaded for calmness and "just take 3" - nevertheless the box was emptied in 60 seconds - there was still time to finish "Almost Jamaica".
About mid-way through the night, DJ Mel played one of my favorite songs, the rumba "Esta Noche". Here we see Rima and Jake dancing it.
And, soon after that, it was time for the Best Attire Contest. The 3 judges selected Royce & Maria with their green hats, mugs, ties and more. Nina awarded their prize - a Point Point gift certificate.
DJ Mel Zaragoza has been the Thursday night dance party DJ for many weeks now. Occasionally he has time to dance. Here he's dancing a bachata with Susie - the same way I like to dance bachata - real close.
Next to them, Suzanne and Bert Alota were also enjoying that bachata.
I was at Mark and Lolita's table most of the night. Here they are dancing a tango. Lolita was enjoying her second Thursday night dance at Point Point - I hope she keeps coming.
A few minutes later Rima and Ruben were dancing a merengue.
And joyously dancing right next to them were Florita and Lita.
Across the floor, Dante and Marilyn were also dancing the merengue.
Getting near closing time I spotted Nickie and Edith dancing in their St. Patrick's Party green.
It's a fun dance party most every Thursday night at Point Point with line dances and ballroom dances like swing like Manila Swing (also known as 4-count hustle or Philippine swing or Filipino swing), cha cha, night club 2-step, tango and much much more. For this weeks' Dance Party on Thursday (March 20th), Point Point Joint Restaurant, 916 E. 8th Street, National City, as usual offers their special price of $10 for 2-entree dinner plus drink for Thursday Night dancers.
Here's the plan for the next few weeks at Point Point:
Thursday March 20th, 6-10pm, DJ Mel
Thursday March 27th, 6-10pm, DJ Mel
Thursday April 3rd, 6-10pm, DJ Mel
See you on the dance floor,
Bert & Edith

P.S. Other Notes: (1) The Thursday night dance parties are private parties, and this is the invitation to members of the email group to enjoy dancing in Point Point Restaurant, a mere four miles from downtown San Diego. There are dancers who are happy to give free dance lessons during the dances, in case you don't know the steps of a particular dance.
