Dance Party at Point Point This Thursday (Jan. 23, 2014)

Hello Dancers,

   This coming Thursday January 23rd, will be another great Dance Party from 6 to 10PM at Point Point Joint Restaurant.  You are invited to attend and enjoy Point Point's $10 dinner special which includes a soft drink.  (More details below.) 
  The Dance Party last Thursday (January 16th) at Point Point had 25 dancers enjoying the dance music of DJ Mel.

First of all, here we see Lita and Florita enjoying the "Down South Shuffle".

A while later Florita was dancing the merengue "Princesita" with Ruben.

At the same time, Bert Alota was dancing to "Princesita" with Suzanne. 

A while later, I saw Eva in front on the "Ballando" line dance.

Another line dance - this time Bert Alota was leading on "Enamorada".

Here we see a first-timer to the Thursday night dancing, Lisa, dancing a cumbia with Eva.  

And, I don't remember Susan de los Santos, publisher of The Filipino Press, coming to Thursday night dancing at Point Point before, so I guess she's  a "first-timer", too.  She talked to us about one of her projects, Saturday afternoon entertainment in the Food Court at Seafood City, 285 E. Orange Avenue, Chula Vista.

So, we agreed to dance there Saturday February 1st, 1pm - 3pm.  Two days later the above ad was in The Filipino Press.  Well, it's free, and there are lots of nice little restaurants there.  So, mark your calendar and come on down. That Seafood City, a very large Asian supermarket, is barely a block from the 805, so it's freeway close. 

And, I got to dance the "Margaritaville" cha cha with Susan, and I got a Filipino Press newspaper. 

About closing time, Vilma and Eva were in front on one of my sentimental favorite line dance, "Memory". Very pretty.

Dance Party at Point Point This Thursday (Jan. 16, 2014)

Hello Dancers,

  The Dance Party last Thursday (January 9th) at Point Point had 35 dancers enjoying the dance music of DJ Leo.

First of all, here we see line dancers enjoying "Bachata Risma".

A little while later I spotted Bert Alota and Esther dancing to the cha cha "Cinco De Mayo."  

Across the floor, also dancing the cha cha we see Mark dancing with Cecile.     

Around 8:30pm Bert Alota was back on the floor, this time dancing "Blue Tango" with Suzanne.

Once again Ruben gets my vote for most lively dancer of the night.  Here he was dancing a cumbia with Florita.

Here Marilyn is dancing cumbia with Romy. 

Towards the end of the night, Rima and Ruben enjoyed dancing salsa to "Ava Maria Lola". 

Then, the line dancers got back on the floor. This time we see Vilma and Edith in front for "Baby Likes To Rock It."

I got to dance a bachata with Lulu.

Dance Party at Point Point This Thursday (Jan. 9, 2014) - Polka Dot Party was Success

Hello Dancers,
   This coming Thursday January 9th, will be another great Dance Party from 6 to 10PM at Point Point Joint Restaurant.  You are invited to attend and enjoy Point Point's $10 dinner special which includes a soft drink.  (More details below.) 
  The Polka Dot Holiday Dance Party last Thursday (January 2nd) at Point Point had over 40 dancers, thanks in part to DJ Mel and others spreading the word about the Polka Dot apparel theme (which I'd completely forgotten - oops).   We enjoyed the dance music of DJ Leo.  Photo Highlights from January 2nd:    (Note: If the following photos do not appear when you look at this email, click the words at the top of this email that say something like "Show images which are still blocked to protect your privacy" - I already know who you are):

Bert Alota and Suzanne enjoyed a dance. 

A while later Penny and Ping danced to my new favorite tango, "You Know I'm No Good".

Lots of line dances.  Here they packed the floor for the "Bachata Risma" line dance.   

Around 8:30pm the Polka Dot Night prize winners were announced.  First of all, Ruben won the door prize drawing prize handed to him by Florita. 

And, from among all the great Polka Dot outfits, the judges picked Nitz to be the winner.  Edith awarded the prize to Nitz. 

A while later Florita danced "Mi Bom Bon" with Ruben, who I thought was the liveliest dancer of the night.

The next song was "Sinta", and Hector and Del were dancing to it.

And across the floor, Lita and Florita were also enjoying "Sinta".

Getting near closing time, I spotted the Polka Dot Twins - Nitz and Marylou dancing to the "I Saw Her Standing There" boogie, with several other polka dotters nearby.

Holiday Dance Party at Point Point This Thursday (Jan. 2, 2014)

Hello Dancers,

   This coming Thursday January 2nd, we dance party-goers will welcome 2014 with another great Holiday Dance Party from 6 to 10PM at Point Point Joint Restaurant.  You are invited to attend, extend your holiday season, and enjoy Point Point's $10 dinner special which includes a soft drink.  Special events include a drawing for a door prize and complementary snacks in Point Point's upper level.  (More details below.) 
  The Holiday Dance Party last Thursday (December 26th) at Point Point had about 35 dancers, thanks in part to some dancers from the 32nd Street Dance Group and from Jun Ancho's Circle of Frenz.  We enjoyed the dance music of DJ Leo.

Marylou and DJ Leo enjoyed a tango. 

Here we see Jun Ancho dancing a cumbia with one of his Frenz, Jona. 

A few minutes later I spotted Bert Alota having a good cha cha with Mona. 

A bit later - an interesting photo.  The line dancers here are the ones who kindly performed the "Bilando Boogaloo" line dance for a YouTube video.  Who do we see?  Mona, Beth, Suzanne and Nitz in front.

Around 8:30pm the door prize winners' names were drawn.  Winner #1 - Becky.

And, winner #2 - Jun Ancho - won a $10 gift certificate for dinner at Point Point.  

I don't know what they were dancing, but Mona, Edith R, Jake and Trining sure seemed to enjoy it. 

Nitz and Hector enjoyed the "Yo Te Amo" night club 2-step. 

And across the floor, Bert Alota and Suzanne were also enjoying "Yo Te Amo".  

"Yo Te Amo" pretty well packed the floor.  Here Aniel and happy prize-winner Becky danced that night club 2-step.

Of course there were plenty of line dances.  Here the ladies danced to "Bachata Risma". 

And, Edith R and Jake danced a storm with the Jive Bunny boogie.

Holiday Dance Party at Point Point This Thursday (Dec. 26, 2013)

Hello Dancers,

   This coming Thursday December 26th will be another great Holiday Dance Party from 6 to 10PM at Point Point Joint Restaurant (and yes there will be one January 2nd, too).  You are invited to attend, extend your Christmas season, and enjoy Point Point's $10 dinner special which includes a soft drink.  Special events include a drawing for a door prize and complementary snacks in Point Point's upper level.  (More details below.) 
  The Christmas Dance Party last Thursday (December 19th) at Point Point had close to 30 dancers enjoying the dance music of DJ Mel.  There was a lot of gift sharing, an ugly sweater contest, and Santa Romy's boxes of avocados and persimmons.   Photo Highlights from December 17th and 19th:    (Note: If the following photos do not appear when you look at this email, click the words at the top of this email that say something like "Show images which are still blocked to protect your privacy" - I already know who you are):

On Tuesday night, December 17, 2013, Nina's line dancers had a Christmas dinner - and line dance party.  Above we see the happy dinner-goers.

After the Tuesday dinner, there was a lot of line dancing.  Here we see Nina's Point Point dancers trying out "Bilando Boogaloo" for the first time.  Suzanne and Hector had learned it at the 32nd Street Dance Group and were the "teachers" on Dec. 17th.  Hmmmm - compared to the YouTube video, Nina's dancers did pretty good - it looks like they just need to get those outfits that change colors while they're dancing.   Tuesday night line dancing at Point Point will resume in the New Year on January 7, 2014.

OK, now on to Thursday night's Christmas dance party (December 19th).  Here we see Romy and Josie enjoying a night club 2-step, "You Are My Shining Star".

Mark watched with interest as women grabbed up avocados that Romy had brought in.

Eva and Leo enjoyed dancing cumbia to "Amor Ala Mexicana".

Across the floor Ruben and Penny were enjoying the same cumbia dance.

A few minutes later, the night's Santa (Romy) brought in ANOTHER produce box, this time it was persimmons.  That set off another grab-fest.

The rollicking celebration continued.  Here line dancers sway to the "Bachata Risma" line dance, aka "Lamento Boliviano".

A few dances later Ly and Ruben danced cha cha to "La Ultima Noche", while some others danced the line dance.

A bit later I spotted Ly dancing again, this time to a night club 2-step with Hector.

By and by the Ugly Sweater Contestants stepped forward.  The eventual winners were Mel, Susie and Rei.

Once DJ Mel won the Contest with his candy-covered sweater, hungry dancers began ripping the pieces of candy off his sweater.
