Hello Dancers, The Western Dance Party Thursday night Feb 17th at Point Point Joint drew in just about 50 dancers, including many from Cesar's Dance Fusion Social Club. More details below.
TUESDAY NIGHT LINE DANCING - At the Point Point Joint line dancing this past Tuesday (Feb 15th) there were ten line dancers enjoying line dances, like "Chilly Cha Cha" and "Sway". Two line dances were introduced: "Locomotion", which was an immediate success, and "Besame Mucho" which occupied Zeny & Nina's attention most of the night studying the steps on a computer. All in all, dancers went through fourteen dances, some multiple times. THIS COMING TUESDAY (Feb 22nd) you can join the fun at Point Point, 916 E. 8th Street, National City, 6:30-9:00, when Nina will again lead us through fun line dances. $5. WEDNESDAY FILIPINO NIGHT at Lucky Star Restaurant on Feb 16th saw attendance climb a bit above 20 dancers. Dancers were energetic all night with "Blame It On Your Heart" swing and "Right Thing That We Do" waltz getting about all 20 dancers onto the floor. "Lady In Red", "Wonderful Tonight" and a merengue also got most everyone dancing. "Filipino Night" once again will be this coming Wednesday Feb 23rd with DJ Eric at the LUCKY STAR RESTAURANT, 54th Street & University Avenue, San Diego. 6:30-9:30PM. $6 plus one drink minimum.
THURSDAY NIGHT DANCING AT POINT POINT was the Western Dance Party with many folks in cowboy and cowgirl attire. I was AWOL, so Edith took pictures and told me what happened. Thanks to the attendance of Cesar about 15 dancers that go to his Dance Fusion Social Club nights (see info on their dances in Upcoming Weekly Events), there were about 50 dancers again Thursday night Feb 17th. Cesar's dancers showed off some of their line dance favorites like "House Of Bamboo". Line dances that most everyone knew included "Tennessee Waltz", "If You Wanna Be Happy", and "Locomotion". Next Thursday Feb 24th, the dance at Point Point, 916 E. 8th Street, National City, will be a Fifties dance party night, so what to wear? Bobby socks? Fluffy skirts? Leather jackets? We'll see. Party dancing: 6:30-10 PM. The only admission cost is $10 which gets you a 2-entree buffet dinner, 2 soft drinks, and all the dancing you can handle. PHOTOS: First of all, from Filipino Night at Lucky Star Wednesday Feb 16th, for the second week in a row we have Jun and Jona enjoying a tango.
Then, at Point Point Thursday night, Feb 17th, we see Ping dancing with one of the ladies from the Dance Fusion Social Club.
I put those two plus 17 other photos from the past week in the Forever Young Group Photos section into the '2011 February' folder. For those of you who prefer the features of Google's Picasa Web Albums, and you who are non-Yahoo members, the February photos are also posted at

TUESDAY NIGHT LINE DANCING - At the Point Point Joint line dancing this past Tuesday (Feb 8th) there were ten line dancers enjoying line dances, like "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" and "I Love The Nightlife". THIS COMING TUESDAY (Feb 15th) you can join the fun at Point Point, 916 E. 8th Street, National City, 6:30-9:00, when Nina will again lead us through fun line dances. $5. "Filipino Night" once again will be this coming Wednesday Feb 16th with DJ Eric at the LUCKY STAR RESTAURANT, 54th Street & University Avenue, San Diego. 6:30-9:30PM. $6 plus one drink minimum.
THURSDAY NIGHT DANCING AT POINT POINT was the Valentine Dance Party. Thanks to Leo & Penny's incredible networking skills, 50-55 dancers showed up for what was the 3rd week of Thursday night dance at Point Point! Lots of beautiful ladies in Valentines red. Art Tennessee joined us. And, Cindy DeLeon dropped in to say "Hi" - photo of Cindy in Photo Albums. She said she thinks Tita's II will open next month - but we've been hearing such predictions for the past 9 months. DJ Leo played ballroom and line dances till 10pm. Favorites like, "1st, Last, My Everything", "Tennessee Waltz", "Margaritaville", and "Rumba Samba Mambo" each got about 20 dozen dancers on the floor, and "Cumbia Semana" seemed to be the favorite with over 25 dancers on the floor. Next Thursday Feb 17th, the dance at Point Point, 916 E. 8th Street, National City, will be a Western dress night, so look for what? Boots? Cowboy hats? We'll see. Party dancing: 6:30-10 PM. The only admission cost is $10 which gets you a 2-entree buffet dinner, 2 soft drinks, and all the dancing you can handle.
PHOTOS: First of all, from Filipino Night at Lucky Star Wednesday Feb 9th, we have Jun and Jona enjoying a tango or something like that.
Then, at Point Point Thursday night, Feb 10th, we see Beth and Penny relaxing before the dance went into full swing.

Hello Dancers, Thursday night at Point Point Joint was the biggest dance of the week for me. More details below.
TUESDAY NIGHT LINE DANCING - At the Point Point Joint line dancing this past Tuesday (Feb 1st) there were fifteen line dancers enjoying twelve line dances, like "Chilly Cha Cha", "Rose Garden", and "Sex Bomb". "If You Wanna Be Happy" footwork continued to be discussed. We welcomed Marilyn's friend Luisa, who joined us for the first time. THIS COMING TUESDAY (Feb 8th) you can join the fun at Point Point, 916 E. 8th Street, National City, 6:30-9:00, when Nina will again lead us through fun line dances. $5. EDITH will continue selling tickets to a Feb 19th Post-Valentine Dinner Dance at Holiday Inn on the Bay. See details in Upcoming Events.
WEDNESDAY FILIPINO NIGHT at Lucky Star Restaurant on February 2nd was back in the big ballroom. Attendance dropped to 16 dancers, plus about 20 people who were just dining in the restaurant. Nevertheless, several songs got a dozen dancers onto the floor, including "La Cumparsita" tango, "Chilly Cha Cha" and "Old Time Rock and Roll". "Filipino Night" once again will be this coming Wednesday Feb 9th with DJ Eric at the LUCKY STAR RESTAURANT, 54th Street & University Avenue, San Diego. 6:30-9:30PM. $6 plus one drink minimum.
THURSDAY NIGHT DANCING AT POINT POINT became BIG on Feb 3rd!! Thanks to Leo & Penny's networking skills, THIRTY dancers showed up for the 2nd week of Thursday night dance at Point Point! It was a joyful reunion of dancers who had not all been together at one dance in almost a year. With all the glamorous ladies there, it was a 3-hour photo session for me (see photos in Group Photos section or the Picasa album). To get enough floor space, this week most tables on main floor were moved to the upper level. Narsing enjoyed her 72nd birthday celebration during the evening. Marilyn came to the dance with Maryann. DJ Leo played ballroom and line dances till 10pm. Favorites like, "1st, Last, My Everything", "Tennessee Waltz", Waltz Line Dance, and "S'mera" each got over a dozen dancers on the floor. Next Thursday Feb 10th, the dance at Point Point, 916 E. 8th Street, National City, will be VALENTINE DANCE. "Dress to impress" was the word. If the dance matches the Valentine Dances in previous years at Manila-Tokyo, it will be a beautiful sight - well, at least the ladies will be. Several ideas and plans were mentioned. Another plan was confirmed: Chito and Cindy will give West Coast Swing dance lessons before the main dances for at least the next two weeks - so those lessons will probably be 6:30-7pm. Party dancing will go until 10 PM. The only admission cost is $10 which gets you a 2-entree buffet dinner, 2 soft drinks, and all the dancing you can handle.
FRIDAY NIGHT DANCING AT BETHUNE SCHOOL near Woodman and Paradise Valley Road, with dance instructor Cesar. Vivian, Edith and I were welcomed there tonight by the friendly, cordial, happy and energetic dancers, including Cesar, who was leading the line dancers. The folks at Bethune danced to an amazing number of dances, 18 different line dances between 7pm and 8:30pm, closing time. The dancing was in the school auditorium. Cesar said that they know most of the dances we do at Point Point. I knew 4 of the 18 they did, including "If You Wanna Be Happy", "Tennessee Waltz", and "Simplemente". This weekly dance event, along with many others, are listed on the "Weekly & Upcoming Dance Events Information" webpage.
DJ ERIC's SUNDAY AFTERNOON "STRICTLY BALLROOM" 2-5PM at Lucky Star is CANCELLED this Sunday Feb 6th due to Super Bowl. It will resume Sunday Feb 13th. PHOTOS: First of all, from Filipino Night at Lucky Star Wednesday Feb 2nd, we see Ping stopping to say "Hi" to Malou and Vivian.
Then, at Point Point Thursday night, Feb 3rd, we see that Liz and Rima were happy as they posed together. Well, everyone was happy that night.
And lastly, from tonight (Feb 4th) at Cesar's line dancing at Bethune Elementary School auditorium, we see Cesar in the hat leading his dancers in an interesting line dance.
I put those three plus 24 other photos from the past week in the Forever Young Group Photos section into the '2011 February' folder. For those of you who prefer the features of Google's Picasa Web Albums, and you who are non-Yahoo members, the February photos are also posted at

Hello Dancers, DJ Eric started Sunday "Strictly Ballroom" at Lucky Star, and Leo Dulce started Thursday night dancing at Point Point. More details below.
TUESDAY NIGHT LINE DANCING - At the Point Point Joint line dancing this past Tuesday Jan 25th fifteen, counting people who were there for part of the night, danced through about ten line dances, like "Asi Asi", "Cumbia Semana", "Tennessee Waltz", and "Volare". "If You Wanna Be Happy" footwork got extra attention. DJ John Llaneta's mom Leti joined us for the first time in about a year. THIS TUESDAY (Feb 1st) you can join the fun at Point Point, 916 E. 8th Street, National City, 6:30-9:00, when Nina will again lead us through fun line dances. $5. EDITH will continue selling tickets to a Feb 19th Post-Valentine Dinner Dance at Holiday Inn on the Bay. See details in Upcoming Events.
WEDNESDAY FILIPINO NIGHT at Lucky Star Restaurant on January 26th was moved into the smaller ballroom because there was a big party in the big ballroom. There were about 30 dancers, with just under 20 dancers hitting the floor at the most. The dance floor did not get crowded. Luckily, 15 of the dancers were friends of Bernie that he brought in, several of them visiting the U.S. from the Philippines. I imagine we were a strange sight to those tourists. With quite a few line dancers in the room, DJ Eric had best results with line dances like "Achy Breaky Heart", "Asi Asi", "Coco Jamboo", and "Todo Todo Todo". "Filipino Night" once again will be this coming Wednesday Feb 2nd at the LUCKY STAR RESTAURANT, 54th Street & University Avenue, San Diego. 6:30-9:30PM. $6 plus one drink minimum.
THURSDAY NIGHT DANCING AT POINT POINT became a reality on Jan 27th!! With attendance at Jade House for Thursday night dancing disappearing, close to 20 showed up for the inaugural Thursday night dance at Point Point. Point Point moved tables out of the way on main floor, and DJ Leo set up near the trays for the buffet line. His 3 small speakers were certainly loud enough for Point Point. With only about 4 guys doing any dancing and so many ladies itching to dance, Leo had to play line dances predominantly. Dancing went on till 10PM. This coming Thursday Feb 3rd, Point Point will once again feature dancing, roughly 6:30 - 10 PM. The only admission cost is $10 which gets you a 2-entree buffet dinner, 2 soft drinks, and all the dancing you can handle. However, due to the newness of this event, it's best to call ahead around 6PM to Point Point 619-474-2866 to verify it will happen.
SUNDAY AFTERNOON "STRICTLY BALLROOM" 2-5PM at Lucky Star is DJ Eric's new addition to the weekly San Diego dance scene. It will be interesting to see how this does on the same day as other dancing in National City (see Upcoming Events page). Just like Wednesday nights, there will be a $6 cover charge and 1 drink minimum. PHOTOS: First of all, from Filipino Night at Lucky Star Wednesday Jan 26th, we see tango dancers on doing their turns in the smaller (but still big) ballroom.
Then, at Point PointThursday night inaugural dance, Jan 27th, we see an overview of the "dance floor" with eleven line dancers dancing to "Asi Asi". DJ Leo is in a yellow shirt near the back.
I put those two plus 11 other photos from the past week in the Forever Young Group Photos section into the '2011 January' folder. For those of you who prefer the features of Google's Picasa Web Albums, and you who are non-Yahoo members, the January photos are also posted at

Hello Dancers, With the return of DJ Eric to Lucky Star this past Wednesday, there were 36 dancers, the most since October. Details below.
TUESDAY NIGHT LINE DANCING - At the Point Point Joint line dancing this past Tuesday Jan 18th thirteen of us danced through about a dozen line dances, like "Blame It On The Bossa Nova", "Coco Jamboo", "If You Wanna Be Happy", "Rock Around The Clock", "Simplemente", and many more. We welcomed back Rei Toth and offered sympathy over the recent passing of her mother. THIS TUESDAY (Jan 25th) you can join the fun at Point Point, 916 E. 8th Street, National City, 6:30-9:00, when Nina will again lead us through fun line dances. $5. EDITH will be there with tickets to a Feb 19th Post-Valentine Dinner Dance at Holiday Inn on the Bay. See details in Upcoming Events.
WEDNESDAY FILIPINO NIGHT at Lucky Star Restaurant on January 19th had the most Filipino Night dancers since late October. Although there were about 36 dancers and a couple dozen diners, barely 20 dancers hit the floor at any one time. DJ Eric was back on the stage playing great dance songs. Catering to the variety of dancers' preferences, songs played included "Heaven's What I Feel", "Disco Inferno", and waltzes, cha cha and more, plus line dances like "Coco Jamboo", "Tennessee Waltz", and "Volare". "Filipino Night" once again will be this coming Wednesday Jan 26th at the LUCKY STAR RESTAURANT, 54th Street & University Avenue, San Diego. 6:30-9:30PM. $6 plus one drink minimum.
THURSDAY NIGHT DANCING AT JADE HOUSE at 569 H Street, Chula Vista, Jan 20th, had only 5 dancers, but only Jack & Nanette were dancing - there were just too few people. I wasn't there, but Edith was. DJ RT played all the usual songs, with emphasis on ballroom dance songs. With attendance low, it's best to call ahead to see what's happening this coming Thursday January 27th.
THURSDAY NIGHT DANCING AT POINT POINT??? There was some exploratory talk about it during the past week. That would probably be a BIG change to Point Point's normal operation. PHOTOS: First of all, from line dancing at Point Point, we see about ten folks happily line dancing to "Rock Around The Clock".
Then, from Filipino Night at Lucky Star Wednesday Jan 19th, back from her long Hawaiian vacation we have Luna dancing tango with Bert Alota.
I put those two plus 12 other photos from the past week in the Forever Young Group Photos section into the '2011 January' folder. For those of you who prefer the features of Google's Picasa Web Albums, and you who are non-Yahoo members, the December photos are also posted at

Hello Dancers, We extend condolences and sympathy to our regular dancer Nedy, who is also prominent in the Fil-Am community. Her Dad died Jan 14th and she's on her way to Manila for services. This sad loss follows by two weeks the loss of Rei Toth's mother. Meanwhile at Lucky Star, DJ Eric was AWOL, but five guys and five ladies danced the night away on the Jan 12th "Filipino Night". Details below.
TUESDAY NIGHT LINE DANCING - At the Point Point Joint line dancing this past Tuesday Jan 11th eleven of us danced through about a dozen line dances, a few up to three times. We welcomed a visiting VIP from the Red Hot Line Dancers, Baby. She told us a bit about the Red Hot Line Dancers' fun Friday dances in Mira Mesa - they get about 50 dancers! Anyway, we danced to "Asi Asi", "If You Wanna Be Happy", "Rock Around The Clock", "Sway", and many more. THIS TUESDAY (Jan 18th) you can join the fun at Point Point, 916 E. 8th Street, National City, 6:30-9:00, when Nina will again lead us through fun line dances. $5.
WEDNESDAY FILIPINO NIGHT at Lucky Star Restaurant on January 12th again had few dancers, this time there were ten of us. Although the owner was disappointed by the low turnout, with five guys and five ladies, there was a dance partner for everyone. And, dance we did! There were 10 of us dancing to many songs. DJ Eric was absent again, stuck on the East Coast due to snow-related flight cancellations. So once again, the manager gave "OK" to play dance CDs on their system. With folks being mostly ballroom dancers, two-step songs like "Yo Te Amo" and disco swing like "You're the 1st, Last, My Everything" got everyone onto the floor. The few line dances like "Todo Todo Todo" also got us on the floor. Expect DJ Eric and $6 cover charge this coming Wednesday Jan 19th. The LUCKY STAR RESTAURANT is at 54th Street & University Avenue, San Diego.
THURSDAY NIGHT DANCING AT JADE HOUSE at 569 H Street, Chula Vista, Jan 13th, also had 10 dancers - 3 guys and 7 ladies - Whoopee! With Jun being the only guy who dances ballroom nicely, most songs were line dances like "Asi Asi", "Can't Take My Eyes Off You", "Chilly Cha Cha", "Coco Jamboo", "If You Wanna Be Happy", "Rock Around The Clock", "Sex Bomb", "Tennessee Waltz" and "Volare". With attendance low, it's best to call ahead to see what's happening this coming Thursday January 20th. PHOTOS: First of all, from Filipino Night at Lucky Star Wednesday Jan 12th, we see Malou and Dione dancing to the graceful two-step "Yo Te Amo".
Then, at Jade House on Thursday night Jan 13th, line dancers had a great time - in this photo it's Beth, Nedy & Nina in front on "Volare".
I put those two plus 12 other photos from the past week in the Forever Young Group Photos section into the '2011 January' folder. For those of you who prefer the features of Google's Picasa Web Albums, and you who are non-Yahoo members, the December photos are also posted at

TUESDAY NIGHT LINE DANCING - At the Point Point Joint line dancing this past Tuesday Jan 4th twelve of us danced through about 15 different line dances. We welcomed back Leah and Susan who'd been at the line dancing a couple months ago. We continued to sort out the steps of "If You Wanna Be Happy" line dance, also known as "Crazy Foot Mambo Line Dance". We got to refresh our memory of "Can't Take My Eyes Off You". Some others we danced to were "Asi Asi", "Rock Around The Clock", and "Sex Bomb". THIS TUESDAY (Jan 11th) you can join the fun at Point Point, 916 E. 8th Street, National City, 6:30-9:00, when Nina will again lead us through fun line dances. $5.
WEDNESDAY FILIPINO NIGHT at Lucky Star Restaurant on January 5th, was again advertised in "Filipino Press", even though the regular DJ Eric said he's off until Wednesday January 12th. Surprise! Some Forever Youngsters were eating when I walked in, and the manager gave "OK" to play dance CDs on their system. By & by there were 14 of us dancing and many other diners some who joined the dancing till they ran us out at 9pm. With folks being mostly ballroom dancers, salsa like "Hablame", disco swing like "I Will Survive", and merengue like "Suavemente" (a song which I see has TWO Wikipedia sites devoted to it) got many dancers up. Nevertheless, line dances "Cumbia Semana", "Todo Todo Todo" and "Coco Jamboo" also got most of us on the floor. Expect DJ Eric and $6 cover charge this coming Wednesday Jan 12th. The LUCKY STAR RESTAURANT is at 54th Street & University Avenue, San Diego.
THURSDAY NIGHT DANCING AT JADE HOUSE at 569 H Street, Chula Vista, Jan 6th, had a mere 8 dancers, but we seemed to all have a lot of fun. DJ RT played the dance songs, mixed with karaoke. The night was filled with lots of ballroom dances, mostly swing and hustle, and line dancing, "Porque Te Quiero" cha cha, "You're The 1st, Last, My Everything" hustle swing, and line dances "Asi Asi", "Cupid Shuffle" and "Electric Slide" the favorites. With attendance low, it's best to call ahead to see what's happening this coming Thursday January 13th. Then, at Jade House on Thursday night Jan 6th, Cecil and Leo sang a pretty karaoke duet of the Tagalog ballad "Bakit Ngayon Ka Lang Dumating".

P.S. Tita's II, former home of Manila-Tokyo and Jestoni Bistro in National City, continues its slow progress towards opening. Ad in "Filipino Press" has NO mention of dancing, and opening is "Coming Soon".
Hello Dancers, Happy New Year to you and Best Wishes for 2011. We extend condolences to our friend and fellow dancer Rei Toth and her family over the loss of her mother, Elnora Rasing, last week. The line dance to "If You Wanna Be Happy" was the favorite at Point Point and Jade House this past week. Details below.
TUESDAY NIGHT LINE DANCING - Line dancing at Point Point Joint this past Tuesday Dec 28th featured a ton of food, celebrating both the Holidays and Jun Ancho's birthday. Nely & Gigi & Ledy's husband Ador joined us. "If You Wanna Be Happy" line dance, also known as "Crazy Foot Mambo Line Dance", continued to occupy most of the dancers' attention, with its cute rollicking sound and moderately difficult choreography. We did get to dance some of the more well known line dances, like "Coco Jamboo", "Cumbia Semana", "Rose Garden", and "Tennessee Waltz". THIS TUESDAY (Jan 4th) you can join the fun at Point Point, 916 E. 8th Street, National City, 6:30-9:00, when Nina will again lead us through fun line dances. $5.
WEDNESDAY FILIPINO NIGHT at Lucky Star Restaurant on December 29th, was again advertised in "Filipino Press", even though the regular DJ Eric said he's off until Wednesday January 12th. Anyway, several people showed up for dancing, and the manager let me play our dance CDs. No cover charge. So, about a dozen of us danced till they ran us out at 9pm. There were line dances, and hustle swing songs "You're The 1st, Last, My Everything" and "Believe" which got everyone up dancing. Dancers also liked the cha cha "La Ultima Noche". If there is any dancing this coming Wednesday Jan 5th, there again should be no cover charge. The LUCKY STAR RESTAURANT is at 54th Street & University Avenue, San Diego.
THURSDAY NIGHT DANCING AT JADE HOUSE at 569 H Street, Chula Vista, Dec 30th, had about 10 dancers. DJ RT started the night with a beautiful serenade of "Unchained Melody" to his girlfriend, Melody. The night was filled with lots of ballroom dances, mostly swing and hustle, and line dancing, karaoke and the Holiday Bowl on TV. Bong practiced a lively dance routine with Penny to the song "Dance With Me". "If You Wanna Be Happy", "Tennessee Waltz" and "Volare" were line dance favorites. Manager Vangie Mangune will be open next Thursday night Jan 6th, 6pm-about 11pm for dinner, dancing and karaoke. Dinner will be from the menus, and no extra cover charge for dancing this week, so if you can make it, come on down. PHOTOS: First of all, from Point Point Joint's Line Dance Night, Tuesday Dec 28th, we see 15 dancers around the Point Point Christmas tree, with Bong and Chona keeping Jun's head warm.
Then, at Jade House on Thursday night Dec 30th, Beth and Edith take a break from dancing to warm their hands in front of a heater.
