Hello Dancers,
Hoping you had a Happy Thanksgiving, and with no dancing at Jade House tonight, this report covers dancing I was at in past few days. Two ladies named Marilyn came to Tuesday night Line Dancing at Point Point for the first time. Details below.
SATURDAY NIGHT'S LIONS CLUB DANCE at LOMA VERDE had an estimated 150 dancers at a gala dinner-dance on a rainy night. Large contingents were there from 32nd Street Dance Group, the Dance Fusion Social Club, and the RMX Dance Group. I got new info on Cesar and the Dance Fusion Club, and I saw RMX dancers do a well-choreographed number. Vangie Mangune, who manages Thursday nights at Jade House, reports that she and her dance partner Brian won the tango contest.
TUESDAY NIGHT (free!) LINE DANCING - Tuesday November 23rd, free line dance night at Point Point brought about 15 energetic line dancers, including 2 newcomers both named Marilyn! Point Point owner Lydia was managing the restaurant Tuesday, and she joined in several of the line dances. We went through over 15 different line dances, with "I Love The Nightlife", "Tennessee Waltz", and the recently-introduced "Rock Around The Clock" line dance getting special attention.
You can join the fun this coming Tuesday (November 30th) at Point Point Joint, 916 E. 8th Street, National City, 6:30-9:00, when Nina will again lead us through fun line dances.
WEDNESDAY FILIPINO NIGHT at Lucky Star Restaurant on November 24th, featured DJ Eric, the One-Man Band. Attendance doubled from the previous week! But still, it was only 20 dancers. We got to compare notes and dance steps with Joe, Josie, Romy, Cynthia, Luther and Maria, who have been coming off & on for a couple months to Lucky Star, and who say they often dance Sundays afternoons as the youngest in attendance at the Kimball Senior Center in National City. A few songs like "Besame Mucho", "Souvenirs", and "You're the First, Last, My Everything", those last two both being disco hustle, got almost everyone dancing. Divine, the most enthusiastic line dancer among us, got DJ Eric to play "Coco Jamboo" and "Cumbia Semana" line dances.
We're looking forward to this coming week's "Filipino Night". It will again be WEDNESDAY NIGHT (December 1st) in the LUCKY STAR RESTAURANT, 54th Street & University Avenue, San Diego, from about 6:30 to 9:30pm.
THURSDAY NIGHT DANCING AT JADE HOUSE at 569 H Street, Chula Vista, had no Thursday night dancing this week, but Manager Vangie Mangune said she will be open next Thursday night Dec 2nd for buffet dinner, dancing and karaoke, all for $10.
PHOTOS:

Ladies Liven Up a Mostly Empty at Lucky Star on Nov 17th
Hello Dancers,
Even the Lucky Star waiters were amused by our …. What can I call it? ENTHUSIASM. Was it the wine, women or the wide open Wednesday night dance floor? Who knows. Details below.
TUESDAY NIGHT (free!) LINE DANCING - Tuesday November 16th, free line dance night at Point Point brought in 16 energetic line dancers, including newcomers Jona, Vicki and Yiying. Nitz introduced us to another line dance that being done at the 32nd Street Dance Group, a new set of steps for 'Asi Asi' which involves lots of dizzying clockwise spinning. Besides delicious Point Point food, the night was full of high energy as dancers went through over 15 line dances, some multiple times. They included "I Love The Nightlife", "September", "Simplemente", "Sway", "Tennessee Waltz", "Volare", and other line dances.
You can join the fun this coming Tuesday (November 23rd) at Point Point Joint, 916 E. 8th Street, National City, 6:30-9:00, when Nina will again lead us through fun line dances.
WEDNESDAY FILIPINO NIGHT at Lucky Star Restaurant on November 17th, had a ridiculously low number of dancers - only ten! There was lots of room on the floor - never more than 8 dancers on the floor at one time. DJ Eric was back along with the $6 cover charge. Around 7:30 there were six of us who knew each other, me, Bert Alota, Dione, Nita, and Jerry and his date Elenora. Jerry, Bert Alota and I were finalizing details of a time sharing plan to dance with the two ladies, when in walked two former Filipina fashion models, Rina formerly from Leyte and Naomi formerly from Baguio. Holy smoke! I was asking them to dance before they selected a table to sit. Luckily they picked the table next to us. And, luckily Rina was happy to dance with us guys. DJ Eric seemed to know just what to play. To Rina's delight, DJ Eric played lots of disco hustle like "You're the First, Last, My Everything." All three of the ladies were wonderfully easy to dance with. Elenora, formerly from Brazil, enjoyed "Lambada", and she even did well on the waltz line dance, never having seen it before. With basically no line dancers there, the only other line dance we did the steps to was "Coco Jamboo".
We're looking forward to this coming week's "Filipino Night". It will again be WEDNESDAY NIGHT (November 24th) in the LUCKY STAR RESTAURANT from about 6:30 to 9:30pm.
THURSDAY NIGHT DANCING AT JADE HOUSE. The Jade House Restaurant at 569 H Street, Chula Vista, had its 3rd Thursday night of dancing and karaoke on November 18th. Manager Vangie Mangune served up a delicious buffet dinner and snacks, dancing and karaoke for $10, from 6PM-nearly midnight. DJ RT kept the music going, in spite of a late arrival of line dance CDs. There was a lot of socializing among about 25 dancers who showed up, again including dancers from the 32nd Street group, Forever Young, Nina's Tuesday night line dancers, and other groups (see photos in photo albums).
Vangie said she might be open next Thursday night Nov 25th (THANKSGIVING DAY) for dinner at Jade House, but I do not have final info on that, so call ahead (619-426-5951).
PHOTOS:
First of all, from Lucky Star "Filipino Night" Wednesday Nov 17th, here's the lovely rollicking Rina and me dancing to "Disco Inferno".
Then, at Jade House Thursday night November 18th, we see Lita, Nitz, Divine, Beth and Nina's impromptu chorus line sing-along to a karaoke performance of the old song "Diana".

RMX Dance Group at Lucky Star on Nov 10th
Hello Dancers,
Mira Mesa's delightful RMX Dancers were in abundance at Lucky Star Nov 10th for Filipino Night. More on that below.
TUESDAY NIGHT (free!) LINE DANCING - Tuesday November 9th, free line dance night at Point Point, was busy, with what I think was an all-time high of 24 people dancing. Well, all-time since we began in June. Nina was busy getting ready for Saturday's Cavite Chabacano fiesta, so the rest of us had DJ duty till Nina showed up. Nitz introduced us to two line dances that are being done at the 32nd Street Dance Group, dancing to the older songs "I Love The Nightlife" and "Rock Around The Clock", both downloadable from the Files section. The surprisingly large group also enjoyed talking, eating Point Point food, and dancing to "Rose Garden", "September", "Sex Bomb", "Simplemente", "Tennessee Waltz", "Volare", and other line dances.
You can join the fun this coming Tuesday (November 16th) at Point Point Joint, 916 E. 8th Street, National City, 6:30-9:00, when Nina will again lead us through fun line dances.
WEDNESDAY FILIPINO NIGHT at Lucky Star Restaurant on November 10th, was a once in a lifetime occasion - 20 beautiful ladies, including many from Mira Mesa's RMX Dance Group, and only 10 guys. And, only 3 of the guys danced with anyone other than the lady they came with. Two of those guys were Bong and I. Just like 2 weeks ago, some ladies left early, disappointed that there were so few guys dancing with them. Well, I really enjoyed the night. DJ Eric was AWOL again, so THERE WAS NO COVER CHARGE. But, once again, Lucky Star asked us to leave at 9pm. Boo. Nevertheless, a big THANK YOU to Carlos for bringing about a dozen cheerful RMX Dance Group dancers (see photos in photo albums). Lulu, one of their dance instructors, gave me a lesson. Once again, the manager let us play our dance CDs on Lucky Star's nice sound system. I brought the favorite songs that DJs Dwayne, John, and Eric played, like "I Have A Dream", "La Ultima Noche" cha cha, "Lady In Red", "The Right Thing We Do" waltz, "Yo Te Amo" 2-step, etc. With so few line dancers there, line dances were few & far between - just "Todo Todo Todo", "Coco Jamboo", and "Tennessee Waltz".
We're looking forward to this coming week's "Filipino Night". It will again be WEDNESDAY NIGHT (November 17th) in the LUCKY STAR RESTAURANT from who knows, maybe 6 to 9:30pm, if DJ Eric is back (and the $6 cover charge would return).
THURSDAY NIGHT DANCING AT JADE HOUSE. The Jade House Restaurant at 569 H Street, Chula Vista, had its 2nd Thursday night of dancing and karaoke on Veterans Day (Nov 11th). Vangie Mangune managed things very well again, with a buffet dinner, dancing and karaoke for $10, from 6PM-nearly midnight. Munchies and Nachos in the dance room were fun to eat all night. DJ RT kept the music going. There was a lot of socializing among about 30 dancers who showed up, including mostly a mixture of dancers from the 32nd Street group, Forever Young, Nina's Tuesday night line dancers, and other groups (see photos in photo albums).
Vangie invited us to Jade House to watch Saturday night's Pacquiao-Margarito fight, which ended with a 12-round unanimous win for the Philippines' Pacquiao.
If you can, add next Thursday night Nov 18th at Jade House to your social agenda.
PHOTOS:
First of all, from Lucky Star "Filipino Night" Wednesday Nov 10th, the Lulu and Esta are in front of some RMX Dancers for a cha cha dance routine.
Then, at Jade House Thursday night dancing November 11th, we see Angie and Ping enjoying what seems to be a tango. Vangie and a visiting dance instructor are in the photo's background.
I put those plus 18 other photos from the past week in the Forever Young Group Photos section into the '2010 November' folder. For those of you who prefer the features of Google's Picasa Web Albums, and you who are non-Yahoo members, the November photos are also posted at

Jade House Opens For Thursday Night Dancing & Karaoke
Hello Dancers,
This was a unique week! The Jade House Restaurant at 569 H Street, Chula Vista, had a Grand Opening Thursday (Nov 4th), as Vangie Mangune made good on her plans that she mentioned to us a couple weeks ago. It's a buffet dinner, dancing and karaoke for $10, Thursday night from 6PM-midnight. About 25 dancers showed up, including mostly a mixture of VIPs from the 32nd Street group, Forever Young, and Nina's Tuesday night line dancers.
Several of the attendees said they will regularly go there on Thursday nights because they can get their favorite music played and they can also sing karaoke. My partner in this e-mail group, Art Tennessee, said Thursday night at Jade House had all 5 things for a perfect night: buffet, beautiful women, beer, dancing to music with a beat, and karaoke. The night was similar to how things went at Jestoni and Manila-Tokyo, except on a smaller scale. As you can see in the photo album (by the way, the photo file titles substitute for photo captions), Jade House is not as fancy or as big as Lucky Star - the dance floor is somewhat bigger than what we use at Point Point Restaurant.
Wes Unger, the main dance instructor for the 32nd Street Dance Group, and his wife Lyn were there. Beth and her three beautiful kids, celebrating a day before Beth's birthday, were there Thursday night, too.
DJ RT kept the place hopping with a mix of the ballroom and line dance songs that most of us are familiar with.
If you can, add next Thursday night Nov 11th at Jade House to your social agenda.
LINE DANCE TUESDAYS (free!) - Tuesday November 2nd, free line dance night at Point Point, was fun, with 17 of us dancing. Nina was busy planning a fiesta, as President of a Cavite association, so the rest of us had DJ duty, while Rei kept busy gathering signatures on a photo that will go in the fiesta brochure. There was extensive practice on both "Simplemente" and "Tennessee Waltz" line dances. In the photo album, you can see the dancers doing "Volare".
You can join the fun this coming Tuesday (November 9th) at Point Point Joint, 916 E. 8th Street, National City, 6:30-9:00, when Nina will again lead us through fun line dances.
WEDNESDAY FILIPINO NIGHT at Lucky Star Restaurant on November 3rd, saw attendance down to about 30 again. Rose was glamorously attired (see photo album) for her birthday party. Nena and JoJo were there, too. Luckily, Jun, Dione, Fred, and some other dancing guys were there so the lady dancers were not disappointed like the previous week - there were just fewer ladies this past week. But, conspicuously absent was DJ Eric!! Luckily, the manager let me play our dance CDs on their nice sound system, which is similar to the CD player sound system we used at the Jestoni Manila-Tokyo Club. AND, THERE WAS NO COVER CHARGE!! On the downside of the night, the manager asked us to close down at 9PM instead of 9:30. It's possible that the situation will be the same this coming Wednesday, but I guess no one will know for sure till Wednesday night.
What songs did well? Well, the few slow songs I had, like "I Have A Dream", "Memory", "The Right Thing We Do" waltz, etc, all got played twice. I got to play "La Ultima Noche" and "Porque Te Quiero" cha cha's that DJ Dwayne used to play with great success at the Jestoni Club. Of course, "Coco Jamboo" and "Tennessee Waltz" line dances were big. What surprised me was that almost everybody got up to dance to "Funky Town".
We're looking forward to this coming week's "Filipino Night". It will again be WEDNESDAY NIGHT (November 10th) in the LUCKY STAR RESTAURANT from who knows, maybe 6 to 9pm.
PHOTOS:
First of all, from Lucky Star "Filipino Night" Wednesday Nov 3rd, the folks are enjoying the "Simplemente" line dance.
Then, at Jade House "Grand Opening" of Thursday night dancing, we see Jun swinging Nitz to what seems to be a disco hustle song.
I put those plus 16 other photos from the past week in the Forever Young Group Photos section into the '2010 November' folder. For those of you who prefer the features of Google's Picasa Web Albums, and you who are non-Yahoo members, the November photos are also posted at

Then, at Jade House "Grand Opening" of Thursday night dancing, we see Jun swinging Nitz to what may be a disco hustle song.
I put those plus 16 other photos from the past week in the Forever Young Group Photos section into the '2010 November' folder. For those of you who prefer the features of Google's Picasa Web Albums, and you who are non-Yahoo members, the November photos are also posted at
http://picasaweb.google.com/bertdonaldson/2010November#
You can download photos from both locations. Using another Picasa feature, you can order prints on-line out of a Picasa album from several print providers including Walgreens without the need to download & upload photo files to & from your computer. To see the photo file names in Picasa Web, left click on the 1st photo, then left click on 'more info' under 'Photo Information'.

Luckily, Jun, Dione, Fred, and a couple other guys were there so the lady dancers were not disappointed like the previous week - there were just fewer ladies this past week.
