Dance This Thursday at Point Point - then next week 'Mexican Night'

Hello Dancers,

DJ Leo will play for this Thursday's Dance Party at Point Point, and DJ Mel will play for next week's "Mexican Night".  Details below.
The last two Thursday night dance parties each had about 35 dancers; I DJ'ed for April 11th "Western Night" and DJ Mel played the music last Thursday (April 18th).  DJ Leo will get everyone dancing THIS COMING THURSDAY (April 25th).  DJ Mel will play for next week's MEXICAN NIGHT (May 2nd, 3 days before Cinco de Mayo).  The same fun dances, and a costume is optional, but we plan to award the best costumed dancer a prize.  Point Point offers their special price of $10 for 2-entree dinner plus drink for Thursday Night dancers.

Here are some photo highlights from the past two dance parties at Point Point (Note: If the following photos do not appear in this email, click the words at the top of this email that say something like "images have been blocked to protect your privacy" - I already know who you are):

First of all, Cesar & Anita came to Point Point for Western Night on April 11th. Cesar showed us some very nice line dancing steps.  In this photo, Cesar is in front in black shirt with Penny & Ester to his left.

About the same time we have this photo of the same line dancers.

Then, right near closing time, we see people like Ly, Jose & Edith dancing to another line dance, the "Wobble".

Jumping ahead a week to April 18th, Marie from M&B Entertainment led several line dances.  In this photo Marie (in pink blouse) leads 'Gangnam Style' dancers.

Here we see Lito and Daisy in Point Point, once again showing off their fabulous boogie dance moves.

Around closing time, DJ Mel and Rima were dancing to a cumbia dance song.

This is your invitation to the Dance Party fun & frolic this Thursday Night (April 25th), 6-10pm at Point Point, 916 East 8th Street, National City.  Enjoy swing (hustle), cha cha, tango, merengue and other ballroom dances, and of course line dances.

First of all, we see Rei, the ultimate hobo entering at 7:30pm prior to her winning Best Hobo Costume on March 21st at Point Point.

Then, I spotted the famous Bert Andrade dancing merengue with Ly.

Around 8:30 on Hobo Night at Point Point the line dancers loaded the floor for "Dahil Sa Iyo".

Just before quitting time March 21st, I saw Rima and Ray dancing a great tango.

Two weeks later, this past Thursday April 4th at Point Point, Daisy and Lito once again showed off some fabulous boogie dance moves, in this photo dancing while DJ Leo played a fast song.

A while later DJ Mel and Rima were dancing to another boogie dance song.

And right at 10pm closing time Apr 4th, there still were enough dancers to fill the floor for "I'm Alive" line dance.

This is your invitation to Western Night Dance Party fun & frolic this Thursday Night (April 11th), 6-10pm at Point Point, 916 East 8th Street, National City, I'll be playing swing, cha cha, tango, merengue and other ballroom dances, and of course line dances.

'Hobo Night' This Thursday at Point Point

Hello Dancers,

Another special Dance Party at Point Point this Thursday:  "Hobo Night".  Details below.
Wow! The last two Thursdays have been probably the best two-in-a-row dance parties we've had at Point Point in over a year.  DJ Mel rocked the Joint March 7th, pointing out that the party we have is "DANCE-O-RAMA", sort of named after a well-known TV dance show in the Philippines popular in the 1960's.  Also, Bert Andrade treated us all to a large delicious mango cake.  Then, a week later for the St. Patrick's Dance Party on March 14th, DJ Leo enjoyed his 61st birthday party while DJ'ing, with a big cake of course - there were 50 dancers there, the perfect number for cozy Point Point.  It was a jubilant gang, thanks to Lumi and others who got many of their friends from places like the South Bay Terraces Seniors (aka Tooma Park dancers) to join the party.  There was lots of complimentary green food & drinks.  Now, for THIS week DJ Mel is planning some great stuff for this coming Thursday's HOBO NIGHT.  Things like prizes for the best Hobo. I'm calling him for more details.  I've been told that "Hobo Night" was a tradition back in some places in the Philippines.  Dancers would put on stylishly old clothes, maybe adding patches and things to look like.. dare I say it?.. stylish bums.  Some newer descriptions of "Hobo Night" say you just pay for what you can afford, but this Thursday Point Point will again offer us the special price: $10 for 2-entree dinner plus drink. Plus, there will be some complimentary snacks.

Here are some photo highlights from the past two dance parties at Point Point (Note: If the following photos do not appear in this email, click the words at the top of this email that say something like "images have been blocked" - I already know who you are):

First of all, we see DJ Mel on March 7th and the DANCE-O-RAMA podium.

Then, we had Nilda and Cisco dancing to a swing or hustle.

Later I spotted Hector enjoying a rumba dance with Evelyn.

And another highlight of the night, Dante showing dancers how to do the "Spanish Eyes" line dance

OK, here we begin highlights of the March 14th St. Patrick's Dance Party in Point Point.  First of all we see Nilda & Wally dancing - yes, the time on my camera is an hour behind.

Here we see folks dancing to the "Wobble" around 8pm.

There were several local dance scene VIPs at Point Point March 14th, including Bert Andrade seen here dancing with DJ Lucibell, who must've been on her way to work at Gapo Restaurant.  Also, DJ Marie from the People's Church was at the dance.

About 8:30 we see Zeny & Ping enjoying a tango dance.

And, here we see Penny & Leo dancing Leo's 61st birthday dance.

There were a couple salsa dances, and Jessie and Rima danced to one.

This is your invitation to Hobo Night Dance Party fun & frolic this Thursday Night (March 21st), 6-10pm at Point Point, 916 East 8th Street, National City, featuring DJ Mel playing swing, cha cha, tango, merengue and other ballroom dances, and of course line dances.

But, NO DANCE ON THURSDAY MARCH 28th, in respect to Holy Thursday (Maundy Thursday).

It's a fun dance party most every Thursday night at Point Point.  Here's the plan for the next few weeks:
Thursday March 21st 6-10pm, Hobo Night Dance Party featuring DJ Mel
Thursday March 28th - No dance - It's Holy Thursday (Maundy Thursday)
Thursday April 4th  6-10pm, DJ Leo
Thursday April 11th 6-10pm, DJ Mel
Thursday April 18th 6-10pm, Western Cowboy Night, DJ Bert
(The Early Birds start partying around 5:30pm.)

See you soon,
Bert & Edith
