Big Dance - Thursday Night at Point Point Joint, Oct. 23, 2014

Hi Dancers,
This Thursday night at Point Point Joint, October 23, 2014, we'll be dancing again.  This is YOUR INVITATION to be there.  The great DJ Leo will be playing swing, cha cha, cumbia, tango, and many more - and of course - LINE DANCING!  Point Point will offer us dancers their delicious $10 dinner special which includes a soft drink.  (More details below.).  So come on over - Party time:  from 6pm until 10pm at Point Point Joint, 916 E. 8th Street, National City.

Last Thursday October 16, 2014, we had a great time at Point Point Joint for PINK NIGHT (October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month).  There were nearly 50 dancers there, thanks in part to six 1st-timers, and some others who hadn't been there in over a month.  We had a lot of fun dancing to the music of DJ Bing.  The five photos below show only a small part of the story.         (Note: If the following photos do not appear when you look at this email, click the words at the top of this email that say something like "Show images which are still blocked to protect your privacy" - I already know who you are):

PINK NIGHT AT POINT POINT JOINT (OCTOBER 16, 2014):

Besides it being PINK NIGHT, the big event was Nedy's birthday!!  Nedy brought a birthday cake and a lot of pancit palabok, which everyone had fun eating.  Above we see the PINK LADIES wishing Nedy Happy Birthday.

Of course there were lots of line dances.  Above, some line dancers were bringing back 'Piel Morena' from the archives.

And, the guys' favorites - ballroom dances. Mona and Nickie danced to the salsa "Acabo De Llegar".

Tito and Gloria, maybe the pinkest of the pink, were dancing to the samba "Bailamos".

And, we welcomed back Boyet and Liz.  In the photo above, I think they were dancing to the rumba 'Reloj'.

On Thursday we had lots of fun with ballroom dance songs like "Blue Tango" (rumba), "I Need To Know" (cha cha), and "Bop To Be" (boogie-East Coast Swing).  And, the women loved the line dances including:  "Mamita Mia", "Simplemente", and "Spanish Eyes".

It's a fun dance party most every Thursday night at Point Point Joint with line dances and ballroom dances like swing including Manila Swing (also known as 4-count hustle or Philippine swing or Filipino swing), cha cha, night club 2-step, tango and much much more.  For this weeks' Dance Party on Thursday (October 23, 2014), Point Point Joint Restaurant, 916 E. 8th Street, National City, as usual offers their special price of $10 for 2-entree dinner plus drink for Thursday Night dancers.

With DJ Mel Zaragoza taking a vacation in the Philippines, here's the plan for the next few weeks at Point Point:

Thursday  October 23, 2014  6-10pm, DJ Leo

Thursday  October 30, 2014  6-10pm, HALLOWEEN COSTUME DANCE, DJ Bing Villafuerte, 858-610-7514

Thursday  November 6, 2014  6-10pm, DJ Leo

Thursday  November 13, 2014  6-10pm, DJ Bing

See you on the dance floor,
Bert & Edith
619-224-3095

P.S. Other Notes: (1) This is the best ballroom dancing in San Diego on Thursday nights - they are private parties, and this is your invitation to members of the email group to enjoy dancing in Point Point Joint Restaurant, a mere four miles from downtown San Diego.  While the dancing is continuous, there are dancers who are happy to give free dance lessons during the dances, in case you don't know the steps of a particular dance.  Hmmm - I bet the simultaneous instruction while others dance makes this the best ballroom dance lessons in San Diego.

DJ Mel Zaragoza and Susie (dancing a bachata above) are taking a two-month "vacation" in the Philippines, so we wished them a safe and fun trip.  You can see DJ Leo Dulce behind them.

Lots of line dances, especially from 6pm - 7pm.  Above, around eight o'clock it was time for "Blurred Lines".  Esther is in front.

Later, line dancers were out dancing to "Conchita".  It was the first time that I saw that great cha cha being line danced.  It's getting tough to find a good recording that's not a line dance.

We welcomed Oscar for the first time in maybe a year at Thursday night at Point Point Joint.  He's dancing above with Penny to the merengue "Mares De Emocion".  There were some first-timers to Thursday night at Point Point Joint on the dance floor, too.

And there was glamor on the dance floor.  Above it was Gloria and Florita dancing to a tango.

SPECIAL MOMENTS.  Above, Nene was celebrating her birthday.  Regarding a couple more serious or sad things, Nina led a tribute to the 3,000 or so victims of the Sept. 11, 2001 plane crashes on the East Coast, and Nina led the dancers in a moment of silent prayer for my Edith's oldest grandson who passed away on Aug. 29, 2014.
