Photo Highlights from the March 6th Dance Party:    (Note: If the following photos do not appear when you look at this email, click the words at the top of this email that say something like "Show images which are still blocked to protect your privacy" - I already know who you are):

Lots of line dancing.  Here the gang enjoys one of the recently most popular line dances, "Bachata Risma".

DJ Mel Zaragoza filled in again as DJ for the party.  He got to dance a boogie with Susie.

Across the floor, Marilyn and Jake were also dancing the boogie, "City Of New Orleans."

And dancing right next to them were Florita and Lita.

And dancing the boogie right next to them were Nickie and Lou.

A while later, Bert Alota who had just returned from the Philippines led the dancers in the lively "Enamorada" line dance.

Well, Lito was in the last couple days of vacation from his night job, and he and Daisy danced and danced.  Too bad they might not be back on Thursdays for a couple months.

I spotted Nedy and Jake dancing a night club two-step.

Bert Alota, king of dip dancing, danced "Calma Bachata" with Suzanne.

DJ Mel saved one of the best dances for near closing time, "Bop To Be" boogie, and Ruben and Florita didn't miss a step.

New YouTube Video - My camera worked, and the ladies very cheerfully danced "It's My Soul" line dance for YouTube.  You've got to see it.  Suzanne & Nedy & Lydia were among those on the front line. Click here

It's a fun dance party most every Thursday night at Point Point with line dances and ballroom dances like swing like Manila Swing (also known as 4-count hustle or Philippine swing or Filipino swing), cha cha, night club 2-step, tango and much much more.  For this weeks' Dance Party on Thursday (February 27th), Point Point Joint Restaurant, 916 E. 8th Street, National City, as usual offers their special price of $10 for 2-entree dinner plus drink for Thursday Night dancers.

Here's the plan for the next few weeks at Point Point:

Thursday  March 13th,    6-10pm, ST. PATRICK'S DANCE PARTY, DJ Leo

Thursday  March 20th,   6-10pm, DJ Mel

Hello Everyone,

This Thursday (March 6th) we'll dance up a storm at Point Point Joint Restaurant again, and you are invited.  AND, the following Thursday March 13th will be a big St. Patrick's Dance Party with complimentary snacks and a prize for the best ST. Patrick's attire (like GREEN).  Point Point will offer us dancers their yummy $10 dinner special which includes a soft drink.  (More details below.)

Last Thursday (Feb 27th) was a great Dance Party with about 30 dancers enjoying the lively dance music of DJ Mel Zaragoza. We welcomed three first-timers.

Photo Highlights from the Feb 27th Dance Party:    (Note: If the following photos do not appear when you look at this email, click the words at the top of this email that say something like "Show images which are still blocked to protect your privacy" - I already know who you are):

DJ Mel Zaragoza filled in again as DJ for the party.  He found time to dance several dances including this one with DJ Assistant #1, Susie.

Daisy and Lito had just come from a Mardi Gras dance party at Balboa Park earlier in the day (February 27th), and Daisy was wearing a Mardi Gras Gold outfit.  Once again, I was amazed at their great tango moves, like this one.  Lito and Daisy have been able to come Thursday nights recently because Lito has been on vacation.

Here's a picture of one of the first-timers, Lolita.  She was dancing a night club 2-step with Mark.

A while later I saw Sally and Hector dancing to another night club 2-step.   I didn't get any good line dance photos, but Sally and Hector danced most of the line dances.

Florita and Lita were also very busy on the dance floor.  Here they are dancing to "Let It Whip"

Here we see Lita dancing a cumbia with another very busy dancer, Nickie

Across the floor, Romy and Marilyn were also dancing the cumbia.

Later on, Edith and Ruben were having a good time with another cumbia.

Everyone was having so much fun, that near closing time another first-timer CC got up to dance to "D-I-S-C-O" with Ruben.

Let's Party at Point Point Joint This Thursday (Feb. 27, 2014)

Hi Dancers,

This coming Thursday February 27th there will be another jubilant dance party at Point Point Joint Restaurant, and you are invited.  Point Point will offer us dancers their yummy $10 dinner special which includes a soft drink.  (More details below.)

Last Thursday (Feb 20th) was a fabulous Dance Party with about 35 dancers showing up for to enjoy the dance music of DJ Mel Zaragoza. For a change, I saw no first-timers, but there were people who had not been to Thursday night dancing at Point Point for a long time.

Photo Highlights from the Feb 20th Dance Party:    (Note: If the following photos do not appear when you look at this email, click the words at the top of this email that say something like "Show images which are still blocked to protect your privacy" - I already know who you are):

Early in the evening I took some pictures of dancers doing the night club 2-step to "Woman In Love".  First of all, Nickie and Florita.

And, the venerable Bert Andrade danced the same song with Nedy.

Across the dance floor were Liz and Boyet, who were back in Point Point after a long absence.

I was happy to see Daisy and Lito at Point Point again.  Here they are dancing a tango, and doing a dance step that I'd like to do.

Around 8 o'clock more or less everyone got up to dance the pretty night club 2-step "Tal Vez Quizas". Here we see Sally and Hector enjoying it.

Lu and Nickie were also dancing it.  Once again Nickie and Kelly deserved an award for "best dressed".

Even Lita and Florita danced to "Tal Vez Quizas".  I should have danced it, but I was fooling around with my camera.

Lots of line dancing - here they're dancing to "Tonight".

About 9:30 Romy & Marilyn brought in a big box of avocados again.  By the time I got my camera most of the avocados were gone - gone in 60 seconds.

Rima and Kelly were dancing the merengue to "Me Miras".

Royce and Maria were also dancing that merengue.

Near closing time, I spotted Sally and Nickie dancing a tango.

Marilyn and Dante, both regulars at South Bay Seniors (Tooma Park), were also dancing the tango.

YOU TUBE VIDEO:  With all the various activities on Feb 20th, including Bert Alota on speakerphone, I forgot to record a video I wanted.  So, because there was so much frivolity dancing the "Road Runner" west coast swing that I'm posting this YouTube video link to the the artists' video - Microwave Dave live at a church picnic (and here's the studio recording).

Thursday February 27th, 6-10pm, DJ Leo

Thursday  March 6th,    6-10pm, DJ Mel

Thursday  March 13th,   6-10pm, DJ Leo

Dance Party at Point Point Joint This Thursday (Feb. 20, 2014)

OK Dancers,

This coming Thursday February 20th there will be another fabulous dance party at Point Point Joint Restaurant, and you are invited.  Point Point will offer us dancers their delicious $10 dinner special which includes a soft drink.  (More details below.)

Last Thursday (Feb 13th) was a Valentine's Eve Dance Party and about 55 dancers showed up for rollicking good time, which featured the music of DJ Mel Zaragoza. I counted about 15 first-timers - people who had not been to Thursday night dancing at Point Point before.  VIPs included Susan De Los Santos, publisher of The Filipino Press, and her sister Lorna.

Photo Highlights from the Valentine's Eve Dance (my camera had problems - a lot of photos were out of focus):    (Note: If the following photos do not appear when you look at this email, click the words at the top of this email that say something like "Show images which are still blocked to protect your privacy" - I already know who you are):

Early on I spotted Florita and Nicky dancing.

A while later it was busy Nicky again - this time dancing a night club 2-step with Lita

Across the floor, Mark was dancing with Cecile to the same song.

The ladies really liked line dances.  Here we see them dancing to "Bachata Risma".

Lita won the Grand Prize - a big teddy bear - for the most creative attire.  She had a necklace of red blinking hearts.  Nina made the announcements.  I don't remember what I was trying to do in the photo.

Marilyn was runner-up and Edith awarded the 2nd prize to her which was picture frames.  And, look at the fancy banner that DJ Mel had made for the party.

Rima and Kelly danced to the merengue "Tu Sonrisa".  Those two were dressed up very nicely.

Lu danced the merengue with the busiest dancer of the night, Nicky.

Hector and Sally were also dancing the "Tu Sonrisa" merengue.

Across the floor, we see Marilyn and Romy dancing to the same merengue.

And, next to them Eva and Dwayne were also dancing to "Tu Sonrisa".

Lito and Daisy popped into Point Point after about a year's absence and they too danced the merengue.

YOU TUBE VIDEO:  My camera had issues, but I posted a short video of very short clips of two line dances: "Be My Baby" and "It's My Soul".  Just click on those words and the video should play (on most computers).

It's a fun dance party most every Thursday night at Point Point with line dances and ballroom dances like swing like Manila Swing (also known as 4-count hustle), cha cha, night club 2-step, tango and much much more.  For this weeks' Dance Party on Thursday (February 20th), Point Point Joint Restaurant, 916 E. 8th Street, National City, as usual offers their special price of $10 for 2-entree dinner plus drink for Thursday Night dancers.
