Valentine's Eve Dance Party at Point Point Joint This Thursday (Feb. 13, 2014)

Hi Folks,
  This coming Thursday February 13th is the Eve of Valentine's Day,

and you are invited to a wonderful Valentine's Eve Dance Party from 6 to 10PM at Point Point Joint Restaurant.  There will be roses and …. well, we already have at least one cute prize which judges will probably award to best dressed.  Point Point will offer us dancers their delicious $10 dinner special which includes a soft drink.  (More details below.) 


  On a rainy night last Thursday (Feb 6th) 15 dancers showed up for a lively Dance Party enjoying the music of DJ Leo Dulce.  A day or so ahead of time someone remembered that it was the 3rd Anniversary of our Thursday night dances at Point Point (photos below).

Early on I spotted Suzanne and DJ Leo dancing a bachata.

A while later Susie was dancing the rumba "I Have A Dream" with DJ Mel Zaragoza. 

Later on, first-timers Maria and Royce were dancing to the beautiful "No Matter What" night club 2-step.

Hector and Beth were also dancing to "No Matter What".

Then, Hector danced the "Quizas, Quizas" cha cha with Edith.

Line dancing was big Thursday night.  Mostly it was Nina's Dance Friends.  Here they're dancing "Todo, Todo, Todo".

About closing time Suzanne and Nedy were in front for "Red Hot Salsa".

The 3rd Anniversary of Thursday night dancing at Point Point was celebrated a week or so late.  Here are most of the main organizers:  Nina, the gracious Lydia, Penny, DJ Leo, DJ Mel, and Susie. 

DJ Leo and DJ Mel tried to blow out the three candles.

On Saturday Feb 1st (about a week ago), Nina's Dance Friends (in photo) danced on center stage at Seafood City, Chula Vista, responding to an invitation of The Filipino Press for Forever Young to put on a dance demonstration.  


Next to Tuesday Feb. 4, 2014:

OK, this is last Tuesday when Nina's newly named "Dance Friends" danced to "Bachata Risma" in Point Point's upper level.

And eleven of them posed for a group picture.

It's a fun dance party most every Thursday night at Point Point with line dances and ballroom dances like swing like Manila Swing (also known as 4-count hustle), cha cha, night club 2-step, tango and much much more.  For this weeks' Valentine's Dance Party on Thursday (February 13th), Point Point Joint Restaurant, 916 E. 8th Street, National City, as usual offers their special price of $10 for 2-entree dinner plus drink for Thursday Night dancers.

Point Point Joint Dance Party This Thursday (Feb. 6, 2014)

Hi Folks,

  This coming Thursday February 6th, there will be more fun and frolic at a great Dance Party from 6 to 10PM at Point Point Joint Restaurant.  You are invited to attend and enjoy Point Point's $10 dinner special which includes a soft drink.  (More details below.) 
  The Chinese New Years Eve Dance Party last Thursday (January 30th) at Point Point had about 30 dancers enjoying the dance music of DJ Mel Zaragoza and showing off some nice Chinese clothing.

First of all, here we see Marilyn and Jake enjoying a cumbia.

A while later it was DJ Mel dancing with Lita.

DJ Mel was a busy dancer.  Here he's dancing with Lu.

A few minutes later it was Nedy and Jake dancing to the "Lady In Red" night club 2-step.      

And, Delia and Rolly were also dancing to "Lady In Red".  Delia is the new Queen of the South Bay Terraces Fil-Am Seniors Association.  Delia and Rolly were first-timers to Thursday night dancing at Point Point.

"Lady In Red" was a favorite dance on Thursday.  Here Nilda and Wally were dancing to it.

Nena made a rare appearance.  Here she is dancing "Lady In Red" with Ruben.  

Around 9 o'clock, "Bachata Risma" line dance packed the floor - Florita and Hector in front here.

Penny and Marilou were in fancy Chinese attire.  Beth and Nedy posed with them here. 

DJ Mel went all out with his banner and Year of the Horse statue.  Mel said the banner's words mean something like lots of luck and good health in the new year.

Working on up to closing time, there were more line dances.  Here Suzanne is in front on "Ballando".

And, at closing time "Bilando Boogaloo" got a lot of dancers onto the floor.

Chinese New Years Eve Dance - Point Point This Thursday (Jan. 30, 2014)

Happy Chinese New Year!

 Well, the Chinese New Year begins Jan 31st, but we will party on Chinese New Years Eve this Thursday (Jan 30th) at Point Point.  You can wear red, but…

Save your best red for 2 weeks later, Thursday Feb 13th for the Valentines Eve Dance Party.  


  Anyway, Thursday will be another great Dance Party from 6 to 10PM at Point Point Joint Restaurant.  You are invited to attend and enjoy Point Point's $10 dinner special which includes a soft drink.  (More details below.) 

  The Dance Party last Thursday (January 23rd) at Point Point had close to 30 dancers enjoying the dance music of DJ Leo.

First of all, here we see Ruben and Edith enjoying what turned out to be the favorite song of the night, the night club 2-Step "No Matter What" by BoyZone.

A while later it was Eva dancing a tango with Ruben.

Ruben was busy on the dance floor.  Here he's dancing a bachata with Florita. 

Holy smoke!  A few minutes later it was Ruben dancing to "No Matter What" again, this time with Ly.

"No Matter What" night club 2-step had a lot of dancers - including Penny and DJ Leo.

Alright now.  Let's compare dancers with Cecile. Here we see Mark seriously dancing to "No Matter What" with Cecile.  

Much more on the cheerful side, a few minutes later I saw first-timer Giovanni dancing a merengue with Cecile.

Lots of line dances.  Towards the end of the night, Edith, Penny and Rima were in front on "Bachata Risma".

OK. I couldn't resist.  After closing time, lovely ladies posed.  Here it was Lita, Edith, Florita, Rima and Marilyn. 

Oh yes.  And Edith got on the mike to drum up support for the "Forever Young" dance demonstration in the food court of Seafood City, 285 East Orange Avenue, Chula Vista, on Saturday February 1st, 1pm - 3pm.  It's a promotional project of The Filipino Press.  It's free, and there are lots of nice little restaurants there.  So, mark your calendar and come on down. That Seafood City, a very large Asian supermarket, is barely a block from the 805, so it's freeway close.

Dance Party at Point Point This Thursday (Jan. 23, 2014)

Hello Dancers,

   This coming Thursday January 23rd, will be another great Dance Party from 6 to 10PM at Point Point Joint Restaurant.  You are invited to attend and enjoy Point Point's $10 dinner special which includes a soft drink.  (More details below.) 
  The Dance Party last Thursday (January 16th) at Point Point had 25 dancers enjoying the dance music of DJ Mel.

First of all, here we see Lita and Florita enjoying the "Down South Shuffle".

A while later Florita was dancing the merengue "Princesita" with Ruben.

At the same time, Bert Alota was dancing to "Princesita" with Suzanne. 

A while later, I saw Eva in front on the "Ballando" line dance.

Another line dance - this time Bert Alota was leading on "Enamorada".

Here we see a first-timer to the Thursday night dancing, Lisa, dancing a cumbia with Eva.  

And, I don't remember Susan de los Santos, publisher of The Filipino Press, coming to Thursday night dancing at Point Point before, so I guess she's  a "first-timer", too.  She talked to us about one of her projects, Saturday afternoon entertainment in the Food Court at Seafood City, 285 E. Orange Avenue, Chula Vista.

So, we agreed to dance there Saturday February 1st, 1pm - 3pm.  Two days later the above ad was in The Filipino Press.  Well, it's free, and there are lots of nice little restaurants there.  So, mark your calendar and come on down. That Seafood City, a very large Asian supermarket, is barely a block from the 805, so it's freeway close. 

And, I got to dance the "Margaritaville" cha cha with Susan, and I got a Filipino Press newspaper. 

About closing time, Vilma and Eva were in front on one of my sentimental favorite line dance, "Memory". Very pretty.

Dance Party at Point Point This Thursday (Jan. 16, 2014)

Hello Dancers,

   This coming Thursday January 16th, will be another great Dance Party from 6 to 10PM at Point Point Joint Restaurant.  You are invited to attend and enjoy Point Point's $10 dinner special which includes a soft drink.  (More details below.) 
  The Dance Party last Thursday (January 9th) at Point Point had 35 dancers enjoying the dance music of DJ Leo.

First of all, here we see line dancers enjoying "Bachata Risma".

A little while later I spotted Bert Alota and Esther dancing to the cha cha "Cinco De Mayo."  

Across the floor, also dancing the cha cha we see Mark dancing with Cecile.     

Around 8:30pm Bert Alota was back on the floor, this time dancing "Blue Tango" with Suzanne.

Once again Ruben gets my vote for most lively dancer of the night.  Here he was dancing a cumbia with Florita.

Here Marilyn is dancing cumbia with Romy. 

Towards the end of the night, Rima and Ruben enjoyed dancing salsa to "Ava Maria Lola". 

Then, the line dancers got back on the floor. This time we see Vilma and Edith in front for "Baby Likes To Rock It."

I got to dance a bachata with Lulu.
