DANCE PARTY at Eastlake Thursday February 3, 2022

Hello Dancers, 

   You are invited to a DANCE PARTY this Thursday February 3, 2022, at Eastlake Shores, 2050 Lakeshore Drive, Chula Vista. There'll be lots of dancing, fun, food, and beverages. It's a "private party" and this is your invitation.  Dancers are welcome to bring a dish of food to share. The fabulous DJ Mel Zaragoza will play for line dancing 6pm-7pm, and mixed ballroom & line dances until 10pm.

  MASKS to prevent COVID spread?  Well, the homeowners association has requested mask-wearing to meet COVID coronavirus requirements. In order to have a healthy dance, please do not come in if you have a fever, cough, or other cold or flu symptoms.  Anyone can wear a mask who chooses. Everyone should bring a mask, just in case the requirements change at the last minute.

DIRECTIONS: Take H Street east to Eastlake Drive.  Go right one block, then turn right onto Lakeshore Drive. Then, turn left immediately into the parking lot of 2050 Lakeshore Drive.  The Eastlake Shores Clubhouse is behind the gated fence.

A CHINESE NEW YEAR DANCE PARTY AT EASTLAKE was last Thursday, January 27th, with DJ Bing Villafuerte, and about 35 dancers. Here are a few photos: 

 

 BEFORE EATING, the dancers posed for the photo above, and then Beth gave the blessing for the food.  This and most photos in this email were taken by Ric.  Line dancing and ballroom dancing continued for hours.

 

 

 SPECIAL NUMBER #1.  The Eastlake Dance Troupe, led by Janet, performed the 1st of 2 special numbers in the photo above.  With Janet in front and Irish nearby, they danced a more-or-less zumba version of "Achy Breaky Heart".  A video taken then is posted on Connie's Facebook, and a similar version by another group is here ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_eM5J7MP030 ).  Faye made the attire for the dancers.

 

 

 

NIGHT TANGO.  A while later Janet and the Eastlake Dancers performed another special number, "Night Tango" ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTgv2pEaC3I ), with Janet and Delia in front in the photo above. Jake Guarin Services - January 29, 2022

Jake Guarin passed away suddenly on December 31st, surprising us at the Eastlake Thursday dances, as well as some of his family, I heard.  Jake was a very friendly, helpful and jovial dancer.  I remember that he had started coming to Thursday night dances when there was Thursday night dancing at the former Point Point Joint. He was remembered again at last night's dance at Eastlake.

 

 

 CELEBRATION OF HIS LIFE
Per the notice above, there was a viewing this afternoon and evening, Friday January 28th at the El Camino Memorial.  And, a mass at St. Michael's Catholic Church tomorrow, Saturday January 29th, followed by a reception.

 

 

 JAKE AT EASTLAKE.  I think Jake's last time at an Eastlake dance was June 27, 2019, when the photo above was taken by Nedy, from Nedy's Facebook ( https://www.facebook.com/nedy.lao ). Jake also went to many of the other Filipino-American dances in the San Diego area.

This is the best Thursday night dance party in San Diego, with many types of dance. While the dancing and music are non-stop, there are dancers who are happy to give free dance one-on-one lessons during the dances, in case you don't know the steps of a particular dance.
