MARDI GRAS DANCE PARTY at NOVO Thursday February 27, 2025

Hello Dancers,  

  You are invited to a MARDI GRAS DANCE PARTY this coming Thursday February 27th, at NOVO Brazil Brewing and Sports Bar, 535 Florence Street, Imperial Beach CA 91932, with the wonderful DJ Nickie Bascos.  It's our first time to try NOVO. There'll be lots of dancing, fun, and food and beverages off the menu (don't bring any food or beverages).  DJ Nickie will play for line dancing 6pm-7pm, and mixed ballroom & line dances until 10pm.  A mild and dry night is currently forecast.

  DIRECTIONS: I-5 to the Palm Avenue exit and go west about a mile to 13th Street.  Turn right and go 2 blocks to Cypress Avenue. Turn left onto Cypress.  NOVO is the big building on the right past an alley, before Florence Street.  Parking is on both sides of the building, and the main entrance faces Florence Street, a street which dead ends there. We have a reservation for the far end of the place, near the beer brewing equipment.

 DANCE WAS NOT ALLOWED this past Thursday, Feb 20th.!!!  Little did the just over 20 people at the January 30th dance party know that that would be our last dance party at Eastlake.  This past Thursday (Feb. 20th) we had unloaded at Eastlake and were waiting to move our stuff in through Eastlake's gate about 5pm, but the guard came up & said he would only allow 2 non-Eastlake I people in for each Eastlake I resident. And, he had a sign-in sheet & apparently was going to check IDs. So, after a 2-hour standoff, we let DJ Nickie and a carload of his "angels" go home, and the rest of us left. There were about 25 of us left in the lurch.  So, we're done with Eastlake.  Anyway, after being turned away at Eastlake on Thursday, about 10 of us drove to NOVO restaurant at Eva's urging, and we reserved a spot in NOVO for this coming Thursday's Mardi Gras Night.

  NOVO Sports Bar & Brewery in the above photo, at 535 Florence Street, Imperial Beach 91932, is BIG, and we will be in the place with regular customers.

 

 

 NOVO Sports Bar & Brewery in the above photo, has large screens with sporting events being shown for sports fans.   The manager said our sound should be only a minor problem for those watching games.

  You are invited to a FEBRUARY BIRTHDAYS DANCE PARTY this coming Thursday February 20th, especially if you have a birthday in February, at Eastlake Shores, 2050 Lakeshore Drive, Chula Vista, with the wonderful DJ Nickie Bascos.  There'll be lots of dancing, fun, food, and beverages.  It's a "private party" and this is your invitation. Roses for birthday ladies, and balloons.  Dancers are welcome to bring a dish of food to share.   DJ Nickie will play for line dancing 6pm-7pm, and mixed ballroom & line dances until 10pm.  A cool and dry night is currently forecast.

NO DANCE PARTIES were at Eastlake the past two weeks.  No dance party reservations have been made past Thursday February 27th, and Ruben and Roland continue discussing arrangements with Eastlake HOA management, trying to avoid an increase in expenses of about $500 per party. Many ideas have been collected regarding alternate dance halls, reduced schedule, donations, etc.  If you have suggestions, please call or text them to Ruben, Roland or me.

NO DANCE PARTY AGAIN at Eastlake Thursday February 13, 2025

Hello Dancers, 

  Sorry, but there will be NO DANCE at Eastlake this coming Thursday February 13th at Eastlake Shores, 2050 Lakeshore Drive, Chula Vista.  Thursday night dance parties at Eastlake resume on February 20th and 27th.  March and beyond is in question, because the Eastlake HOA is imposing what amounts to an extra $500 expense per dance party.  Ideas are being gathered regarding alternate dance facilities, a reduced dance party schedule, and other ideas.

A BALLROOM & LINE DANCE PARTY was at Eastlake this past Thursday, January 30, 2025, with DJ Nickie Bascos, on a very cool and dry night.  There were over 20 in attendance.  Here are 5 photos from last Thursday's Dance Party, all copied from Nedy's Facebook:

 

  BEFORE EATING, dancers posed for the group photo above. Although there were eventually over 20 in the party, only eleven were there for the group photo. Nedy gave a blessing for the food, for victims of the plane crash near Washington DC, and thankfulness for bringing us all together.

 

 

  LINE DANCING was non-stop from 6pm until about 7:30 pm.  In Nedy's selfie above, line dancing to what was probably "Nunca Es Suficiente" ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k76BgIb89-s ) Beth and I were in the front line.

 

 

  BALLROOM DANCING was abundant. In the photo above, Houda & Sami, and Edith & I enjoyed a night-club two-step.
