Hello Dancers,
Another special Dance Party at Point Point this Thursday: "Hobo Night". Details below.
Wow! The last two Thursdays have been probably the best two-in-a-row dance parties we've had at Point Point in over a year. DJ Mel rocked the Joint March 7th, pointing out that the party we have is "DANCE-O-RAMA", sort of named after a well-known TV dance show in the Philippines popular in the 1960's. Also, Bert Andrade treated us all to a large delicious mango cake. Then, a week later for the St. Patrick's Dance Party on March 14th, DJ Leo enjoyed his 61st birthday party while DJ'ing, with a big cake of course - there were 50 dancers there, the perfect number for cozy Point Point. It was a jubilant gang, thanks to Lumi and others who got many of their friends from places like the South Bay Terraces Seniors (aka Tooma Park dancers) to join the party. There was lots of complimentary green food & drinks. Now, for THIS week DJ Mel is planning some great stuff for this coming Thursday's HOBO NIGHT. Things like prizes for the best Hobo. I'm calling him for more details. I've been told that "Hobo Night" was a tradition back in some places in the Philippines. Dancers would put on stylishly old clothes, maybe adding patches and things to look like.. dare I say it?.. stylish bums. Some newer descriptions of "Hobo Night" say you just pay for what you can afford, but this Thursday Point Point will again offer us the special price: $10 for 2-entree dinner plus drink. Plus, there will be some complimentary snacks.
Here are some photo highlights from the past two dance parties at Point Point (Note: If the following photos do not appear in this email, click the words at the top of this email that say something like "images have been blocked" - I already know who you are):
First of all, we see DJ Mel on March 7th and the DANCE-O-RAMA podium.
Then, we had Nilda and Cisco dancing to a swing or hustle.
Later I spotted Hector enjoying a rumba dance with Evelyn.
And another highlight of the night, Dante showing dancers how to do the "Spanish Eyes" line dance.
OK, here we begin highlights of the March 14th St. Patrick's Dance Party in Point Point. First of all we see Nilda & Wally dancing - yes, the time on my camera is an hour behind.
Here we see folks dancing to the "Wobble" around 8pm.
There were several local dance scene VIPs at Point Point March 14th, including Bert Andrade seen here dancing with DJ Lucibell, who must've been on her way to work at Gapo Restaurant. Also, DJ Marie from the People's Church was at the dance.
About 8:30 we see Zeny & Ping enjoying a tango dance.
And, here we see Penny & Leo dancing Leo's 61st birthday dance.
There were a couple salsa dances, and Jessie and Rima danced to one.
