We and the Eastlake Thursday Dancers and many others in San Diego were deeply saddened to hear that Nick Enriquez passed away on Sunday, February 20th. Nick Enriquez was a mainstay in many Filipino-American groups in the San Diego area for many years. We enjoyed being with Nick and Eden at the Thursday Night dances both at the former Point Point Joint, and then for the past 6 years at the Eastlake Shores Clubhouse in Chula Vista, where Nick and Eden were dubbed as the First Couple. We'd see him at RMX dances in Miramar, too. He also danced in choreographed "special numbers". We'll miss the delicious food he prepared for the dances, and the lunch and dinner parties he hosted. He was a big financial supporter and he always paid for the DJs. We love you Nick, forever. - Bert & Edith Donaldson
NICK THE DANCER. Nick was dancing with Eden in the photo above on September 9, 2021, at Eastlake. It looks like they were dancing the tango. Dancers were in white for the September Birthdays Party.

OBITUARY
Nick Tuazon Enriquez
April 17, 1933 – February 20, 2022
Nick Enriquez was born on April 17th, 1933, in Balanga, Bataan. He started courting Norma Banzon in high school, and continued through their college years, finally getting engaged in 1955 after he completed U.S. Navy Basic training. They married on August 18th, 1956, only to be separated while Nick returned to his duty station in Hawaii. They had their first child, Pam, in May of 1957. Shortly thereafter, Nick was reassigned to Subic Bay Naval Base where they established their first home and had their second child, Arnie, in May of 1959. Their next assignment was in Vallejo, CA, where Eric was born in February, 1962. The last duty station of his meritorious Navy career was at the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia, during which their fourth and last child, David, was born. After his Navy retirement in 1975 he accepted a position as General Manager of the American Embassy Recreation Association Club in Jakarta. During his tenure he greatly expanded the membership, benefits, and quality of life for thousands of American expatriates in Jakarta. In December, 1979, he accepted a position in Jakarta with the Continental Oil Company (CONOCO) as Director of Housing and Maintenance. Five years later he was promoted to a position in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Due to Norma’s increasing need for advanced medical treatment, Nick opted to retire from CONOCO in 1989 and returned to San Diego with Norma and David, where he used his business experience to establish a property management company. In spite of excellent medical care, Norma passed away on April 8th, 2002. Nick continued to operate his property management business and to contribute prominently to the Filipino-American Community in San Diego, serving as an officer in the Bataan Association of Southern California, Knights of Columbus, and Kaibigan Ng Immaculate Conception Sa America. In addition, he generously helped countless individuals in many ways. Nick was blessed late in his life to meet and fall in love with Eden (Maria Lourdes Solis), whom he married on May 23rd, 2017. She was a great companion and loving caregiver to him, as he had been to Norma, through his final days. Nick passed away from a combination of medical complications on Sunday, February 20th, 2022.
