NO DANCE PARTY at Eastlake Thursday November 9, 2023

Hello Dancers,  

    SORRY, but there will be NO DANCE PARTY this Thursday November 9, 2023, at Eastlake.  The Eastlake HOA slashed our dance schedule.  The next Eastlake Thursday night dance is scheduled for November 30th for the Cowboy & Western Night Dance Party.

A NOVEMBER BIRTHDAYS DANCE PARTY was at Eastlake last Thursday, November 2nd, with DJ Bing Villafuerte.  There were 45 in attendance, thanks in part to three 1st-timers.  Here are 7 photos from last Thursday's Halloween & Birthday Dance Party:

 

 

BY THE LAKE, ONE MORE TIME.  Early in the evening there were people posing by Eastlake, on the last Thursday before the end of Daylight Saving Time.  Daylight Saving Time returns in mid-March. In the photo above you see Janet, Nora, Annie, Rei and Edith posing.

 

 

 

 LINE DANCING was non-stop from 6 to 7pm, and off and on with ballroom dances until 10PM.  In the photo above, you can see Irish, Connie and Edna in the front line, more or less, enjoying a line dance.

 

 

 

 BALLROOM DANCING was plentiful.  In the photo above John and Faye were enjoying what appears to be a night club 2-step.

 

 

 

 GROUP PHOTO.  Well, there were 100's of group photos taken on Thursday night.  The photo above was part of a celebration of a performance of the Eastlake Dance Group, who danced a line dance at the UPI 2023 Dance-a-Thon Group Dance Contest and won 1st Place. Edith & I held a Certificate of Recognition from UPI and a photo of the winning Eastlake Dance Group.

 

 

 

 THE EASTLAKE DANCE GROUP, well at least four of them, danced at the party. You can see Roland, Lolit, Geraldine and Irish line dancing a "special number".  They were dancing the "Poco Loco" line dance ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LIN4oRZ9KYY ).

 

 

 THE BIRTHDAY CAKE & CUPCAKES (in the photo above) were more delicious creations by Veronica. The cake featured three layers separated by vanilla filling, and incredible decorations.

 

 

 

 BIRTHDAY CELEBRANTS Pat, Beth, Guillermo, Janet, Annie and Roland who have November birthdays, posed for the photo above.

 

 

 

REDUCED SCHEDULE & ON-GOING ISSUES.  Well, besides reducing our schedule (per above list), the Eastlake HOA is proposing the above additional difficulties for our dance parties.  Ruben and Roland plan to attend the November HOA Board meeting to request less changes.

Hello Dancers,  

    You are invited to a NOVEMBER BIRTHDAYS DANCE PARTY this Thursday November 2, 2023, at Eastlake Shores, 2050 Lakeshore Drive, Chula Vista. There'll be lots of dancing, fun, food, beverages, roses for birthday ladies and balloons.  It's a "private party" and this is your invitation. AND, it is our last dance party until the end of November, so please come, especially if you have a birthday in November. Dancers are welcome to bring a dish of food to share.  The miraculous DJ Bing Villafuerte will play for line dancing 6pm-7pm, and mixed ballroom & line dances until 10pm.  Dry and mild weather is currently forecast for Thursday night, again.  

 DIRECTIONS: Take H Street east to Eastlake Drive.  Go right one block, then turn right onto Lakeshore Drive. Then, turn left immediately into the parking lot of 2050 Lakeshore Drive.  The Eastlake Shores Clubhouse is behind the gated fence.

 PROPOSED CHANGES AT EASTLAKE.   The Eastlake HOA is proposing changes for the Eastlake clubhouse.  They are summarized above.  These proposals are additional difficulties for our dance parties.  Ruben presented a great explanation & analysis of the proposed changes during a question & answer discussion at the Halloween party at Eastlake.  He and Roland plan to attend to November HOA Board meeting to request less changes. 

 

 SCHEDULE DISRUPTION. After this Thursday, there will be three Thursdays with no dance parties at Eastlake.  However, the schedule pasted above shows that we'll have dance parties every Thursday in December, including a CHRISTMAS DANCE PARTY and a NEW YEARS MASQUERADE PARTY.

A HALLOWEEN AND OCTOBER BIRTHDAYS DANCE PARTY was at Eastlake last Thursday, October 19th, with DJ Bing Villafuerte.  There were almost 60 in attendance, one of the biggest parties of 2023, thanks in part to six 1st-timers, and a lot was going on.  Here are 7 photos from last Thursday's Halloween & Birthday Dance Party:

 

 BY THE LAKE.  Early in the evening there were people posing by Eastlake, most in Halloween costumes. In the photo above you see Guillermo & Gloria (1st-timers), Ric & Connie, Lolit & Michael, Annie, Irish, Janet, Beth, Rei, Nora, Faye & John, and Belen posing.

 

 

 BEFORE EATING, dancers posed for the group photo above. Nedy gave a remembrance of Helen Vergara who had been a dancer at Eastlake and who died earlier in October.  Then, Nedy gave a blessing for the food, thankfulness for bringing us all together. 

 

 

 LINE DANCING was non-stop from 6 to 7pm, and off and on with ballroom dances until 10PM.  In the photo above, you can see Geraldine, Lolit, Roland and Irish line dancing a "special number".  They were dancing the "All Summer" line dance ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QyT6fYDIc2Y ).

  WINNING COUPLES in Halloween costume posed for the photo above.  They were Dwayne & Eva, Michael & Lolit, Geraldine & Romi, Irish & Roland, Connie & Ric (who was taking this photo), and 1st-timers Gloria & Guillermo (who was adjusting his mask).  Four other couples were winners but they were not in this photo - Joe & Nora, Faye & John, Ver & Ditas, and Rima & Joel. Prizes were donated by Josie & Rei (who both handed out the prizes), and Geraldine.

 

 

 WINNING SINGLES in Halloween costumes posed in the photo above.  They were Yolanda (1st-timer), Rossana, Apple, Manny, Nida, May, 1st-timer Angie (Angelita), Janet, Annie, Nedy, Ver, and Sheila.   Beth and Karina were also costumed winners, but they were not in this photo.

A DANCE PARTY was at Eastlake last Thursday, September 28th, with DJ Bing Villafuerte, on a mild-weather night.  There were just under 50 in attendance, thanks in part to some from North County, and even DJ emeritus Mel Zaragoza from Riverside County.  Here are 5 photos from last Thursday's dance party, along with our reduced schedule for October & November:

AN ARABIAN NIGHT DANCE PARTY was at Eastlake last Thursday, September 21ST, with DJ Bing Villafuerte, on a mild-weather night.  There were just over 55 in attendance, thanks in part to at least 6 VIP dancers from North County.  Here are 8 photos from last Thursday's dance party, along with our reduced schedule for October & November:

 

 

 BY THE LAKE.  Early in the evening there were people posing by Eastlake. In the photo above you see Delia, Gemma, Nora, Irish, Annie, Connie, Estrelle, Alice, Liz and May posing, most in Arabian Night costume.

 

 

 

 BEFORE EATING, dancers posed for the group photo above, most in Arabian Night costume. Beth gave a blessing for the food, and thankfulness for bringing us all together.

 

 

 

 LINE DANCING was non-stop from 6 to 7pm, and off and on until 10PM.  In the photo above, you can see Connie, Geraldine, Charito and Roland in the front line, more or less.  It was the long-time favorite "Bachata Risma" line dance ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KfyfvUpkbqo ), which some of us know as "Borracho Y Loco".

 

 

 

 BALLROOM DANCING was plentiful during the night.  In the photo above we see Sheik Joe dancing with Princess Gemma to what appears to be a cha-cha.

 

 

 

 BELLY DANCING.  Well, in the photo above Huda and Janet were demonstrating their skills at belly dancing, which is a dance type popular in Arabic culture.

 

 

 

 ROMY SANG to enthusiastic admirers Charito, Annie and Irish in another special number.  He sang the swing dance song "Pretty Young Girl" ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-eMnHTAjdk ), while dancers danced to its swing tempo.

 

 

 

 WINNING COUPLES in Arabian costume posed for a photo.  They were Victor & Apple, Geraldine & Romi, Irish & Roland, Connie & Pic, and Lolit & Michael.  Two other couples were winners but they were not in this photo - Tex & Mayeth, and Joe & Nora.

 

 

 

 WINNING LADIES in Arabian costumes posed in the photo above.  They were Delia, Janet (sitting in the background), May, Estrelle, Charito, Rossana, Gemma, Annie, Sheila and Huda.  Beth and Eden were also costumed winners, but they were busy along with Josie judging and awarding the prizes.

 

 

 REDUCED SCHEDULE. Well, we learned on Friday that the Eastlake HOA had other plans for many of "our" Thursdays in October & November.  Concrete repairs will take place in early October, and other Eastlake people had reserved Thursdays in October and November.  The above schedule was posted in the Eastlake Facebook on Friday night.  So, I hope you come this coming Thursday, and October 19th (for combination October Birthday Party and Halloween Costume Party), November 2nd (for the November Birthdays Party), and November 30th (for Cowboy & Western Night), all assuming there are no more changes to the schedule.

It's a "private party" and this is your invitation.  Dancers are welcome to bring a dish of food to share.  The fabulous DJ Bing Villafuerte will play for line dancing 6pm-7pm, and mixed ballroom & line dances until 10pm.  Dry and mild weather is currently forecast for Thursday night, again.  

 DIRECTIONS: Take H Street east to Eastlake Drive.  Go right one block, then turn right onto Lakeshore Drive. Then, turn left immediately into the parking lot of 2050 Lakeshore Drive.  The Eastlake Shores Clubhouse is behind the gated fence.

BIRTHDAY CELEBRANTS Eden and Myra (Veronica), who both have September birthdays, posed in front of 3 birthday cakes, along with Edith, who greeted Eden and Myra, and she summarized the history of this Thursday night dancing association, and gave a tribute to Nina Anson who has a September birthday but lives in Northern California after being the Thursday night Director of Finance for many years.
