Hello Dancers,
Cindy & Chito gave a FREE West Coast Swing lesson March 3rd, and "Locomotion" continued to reign as the line dance favorite. More details below.
TUESDAY NIGHT LINE DANCING - At the Point Point Joint line dancing this past Tuesday (March 1st) there were 16 line dancers, the most since late December. "Besame Mucho" line dance continued to get the most attention. The dancers enjoyed several other line dances, including relatively new favorites "Locomotion" and "If You Wanna Be Happy".
The Baguio Dinner-Dance is 3 weeks away (Saturday, March 26th), and Edith has tickets that she would like you to get. (reference: Upcoming Events)
THIS COMING TUESDAY (March 8th) you can join the fun at Point Point, 916 E. 8th Street, National City, 6:30-9:00, when Nina will again lead us through fun line dances. $5.
WEDNESDAY FILIPINO NIGHT at Lucky Star Restaurant on March 2nd was enjoyed by 20 dancers, plus about a dozen diners, so once again we had plenty of floor space. Although ladies outnumbered guys by almost 2:1, the ladies did not mind because the guys including even DJ Eric danced with them on every dance and several ladies did not want to dance. Nevertheless, the line dances got the most dancers on the floor, with "Cumbia Semana" bringing up 16 dancers, and "S'mera" and "Chilly Cha Cha" not far behind. Tango and meringue were ballroom dance favorites.
"Filipino Night" once again will be this coming Wednesday March 9th with DJ Eric at the LUCKY STAR RESTAURANT, 54th Street & University Avenue, San Diego. 6:30-9:30PM. $6 plus one drink minimum.
THURSDAY NIGHT DANCING AT POINT POINT featured Cindy and Chito giving us a FREE West Coast Swing lesson early in the night (March 3rd). Basic steps included the Sugar Push. They went on to more elaborate steps like the Bump. More free lessons are anticipated. After the lesson as the night went on, the crowd peaked out with about 45 dancers, with DJ Leo playing a mixture of ballroom and line dances. While several ballroom dances like "The Right Thing That We Do" waltz got over 20 dancers on the floor, once again the "Locomotion" line dance packed the floor with about 30 dancers. Swing, 2-step, tango, cha cha, and bolero were other favorites.
This coming Thursday March 10th, we hope to dance again at Point Point, 916 E. 8th Street, National City. Party dancing: 6:30-10 PM. The only admission cost is $10 which gets you a 2-entree buffet dinner, 2 soft drinks, and all the dancing you can handle.
TITA'S II to Open Soon? Rumors abound that Tita's II will open in one week. Well, that's progress. Last May the renovation was estimated to last four weeks. Meanwhile, Gapo II, a retail store subsidiary of the well-know restaurant, has quietly opened across the parking lot from Tita's II.

Then, at Point Point Thursday night, March 3rd, I surprised Nitz who was dancing in the back corner with Leo.
